  1. I was actually hoping for Turner, but I am happy with Gordon.
  2. People seem to be down on him, but I am excited about his prospects, he is adjusting well to being a professional, i can only imagine if the Twins fanatics had Alex Jackson to complain about he hit .158 in low A before being sent down to Extended spring training and now is in rookie ball for Seattle.
  3. Wow, 85 wins was quite a prediction......I cant say i made a prediction, but I was hoping for a .500 season before the first game of the yr................but I am happy with the record and can see our flaws, so will ride the ship as long as it stays afloat, and hope for the best, and knowing that 2016 could be ONE of our years.........The front office has made alot of moves thru out the year, and happy that they are not staying pat when things go awry, and that they make changes.......altho not fast enough for some Twins fans. I am happy it is the all star break and I am not thinking of football season
  4. I should have just looked it up LOL , not a Trekkie here.
  5. Apparently i missed a movie????? I have no idea what this means LOL
  6. Of course it matters, as far as comparisons sake.............example , lets say Matt Harvey was drafted 60th overall and both the Mets passed on him at 30 and Twins at 31, but the Mets got him with the next pick, and there 30th pick didnt pan out ,why would that make the Mets better at evaluating if they also missed him with the first pick.........I could have come up with a better example, but i am working and have not draft info in front of me to look up someone who was actually drafted in that range that made a big impact..............Or better yet, I believe May was drafted in the 4th round, so all the teams made a mistake in evaluating???? I think not, some people just mature differently, and some people take to instruction differently..................But really the only evaluating that means much is if you miss badly on a early 1st round selection, if that happens consistently comparably then you have Director of Scouting problems.........I rambled, so hopefully i made sense, i will clarify if anyone has a problem with this LOL
  7. If the Twins are in it at the August trading deadline, I would go for a Pierzynski trade for offensive purposes with him being a lefty........Ideally i would like to trade for Lucroy, dont know right now what I would give up or what it would take.
  8. I tend to disagree with you most of the time Dave ..........but i think this makes alot of sense, as if we dont have good playing time for Arcia, might has well have him get his reps in at AAA , wait for an injury or poor performance..............we are playing well right now, dont rock the boat.
  9. You can say this for every single team in baseball, even St Louis.......mistakes are made by every team at some point, I am just thankful we have competent leadership, i prefer that over some of the what have you done for me lately commentary.........I have learned to TRY(i still do too) not to be so quick to criticize.........as i have seen this yr, MOST of the moves people have clamored for have come to fruition with the prospects especially........... just not fast enough or early enough for most people..............I have been happily surprised when they have tried something and it didnt work they have retried and reworked to make the team better.........it may come crashing down, mostly because we are not that good, not because we are making the wrong moves, altho all moves that dont turn out will be second guessed..................that is the nature of sports. We all want to be GM
  10. But you forgot what it feels like to be 12 games out and waiting for the Viki.......Timber......i mean the Wild season to start???? Remember we are not that good this yr, or not suppose to be, so someone is pulling the correct strings, because if things were being done by average management we would win 75 games, at least that is what all the prognosticators said.
  11. We could have the 1st or 2nd best record in the American league and still some people wouldnt be happy......................OH!!! We do??? Wow!!!!
  12. Well, if the Twins win today, they will have gotten to 9 games above .500 with no plan............I would say they have a plan, and they are utilizing it, whether we like it or not..........I also would prefer May in the rotation, and he will most likely be back in there, but the Twins will give Pelfrey a 2 week break with the All-Star game break, and if he doesnt come back into the form he had been showing before the last handful of games, then I would bet you will see May back in the rotation shortly thereafter, and Pelfrey banished to the bullpen , waiting for an injury or someone else to implode. You can never have enough pitching and I , for one like that we have to argue who should and shouldnt be starting, because we have worthy candidates.
  13. You mean that pitcher that has only 3 outings 4 IP and given up 1 hit and 1 walk, I love that kind of being lit up for my pitcher!!!! .........................but i dont want him either.
  14. If Hunter was willing to be a 5th OF, I would take him, but if not, hope he retires and you can have him as a coach, but i dont think he would go anywhere but to the major leagues to coach, and he would probably take a couple yrs off, as i know he has at least one kid, who plays sports that he might want to watch.
  15. He is on the Disabled list and will be till he is ready for a rehab, and after rehab(dont know how many games rehab is) they will decide whether to option to AAA, AA or keep him on the Major league roster.......while he is injured he is accruing major league service time.
  16. 3 yrs ago Cedar Rapids maybe did have the best record in the Minor leagues, i didnt look it up, but they were not a affiliate of the Twins then(Beloit)..................I guess I dont know where your memory is but 3 yrs ago Buxton was in Rookie ball and Sano and Rosario were in Beloit(Low A)
  17. Well, i would pencil in Milone and Nolasco to start every game if this is the case
  18. Um, YEA, um, scratch this idea!!!!!!!!
  19. Tho I dont want to trade for Tulo, unless he is almost given away, but I think a trade would have to include at the minimum IMO , Gordon, Gonsalves, and Kepler for them to do it......and i dont want to trade that away for Tulo and his contract.
  20. No where in there did i say he cant play 3B, but Plouffe is an very good defensive 3B, why replace him, unless you trade him, and i have no prob with a trade if we get some value back..............Just remember this is one mans opinion
  21. Well that is fine, but he is athletic, why not play the field.......and i dont have a problem as long as it is not full time DH, and he gets some time in the field.
  22. Another trade idea, and we are not trading anything of Major league value this inseason as long as we are in a hunt for a Wild Card or division title.......but maybe more for offseason, but I am a Braves fan also(but much more a Twins fan) ..................but Plouffe to Atlanta, they need a 3B badly and maybe we could get Peraza to be our SS, very good player and a true SS blocked by the best defensive SS in baseball.......And this next idea would never happen now, he is a probably a Twins untouchable, but Dozier for Atlantas 2B Jace Peterson and Jose Peraza(31 on MLB 100 list).
  23. Here is my hope for whole the starting 9 and defense for 2016 1 Buxton CF 2 Dozier 2B 3 Hunter/Mauer DH 4 Sano 1B 5 Plouffe 3B 6 Rosario LF 7 Hicks/Arcia RF 8 Suzuki C 9 Polanco SS D Santana and Escobar Utility Now altho i prefer Hunter retire, i dont think he will, but if he did, then Vargas in place of Hunter.......And you know the Twins will not put Mauer at DH for most of the days, but I want Sano in the field..............If this all happened we wouldnt have much waiting in the immediate wings, Kepler and who else???
  24. I appreciate the breakdown, I am a little surprised that Slegers is so low, I would have him higher, as well as Bard, but each of us has our own ideas, but I like lists like this to see what is out there and other peoples thoughts, Thanks.
  25. I agree that scouting is most important, and would be the separator, all things being equal, but if X team can sign 8 players for whatever they want, and team Y only signs one because they stay inside the limit, then team X is going to hit the lottery more often................and one could argue that scouting will not always be the separator either, unlike the draft, because if you really like certain players, they could all sign elsewhere...................I mean all the Domican players grew up hearing about the Yankees, so would you rather sign with the big name Yankees or Dodgers or the little heard about Twins??
