  1. See the thread.......Early Judgement: Things Haven't Changed in Twins Territory dated 11-20-13.
  2. I'm guessing they are just kicking tires, but I like this move. Salty and Doumit, then Salty and Pinto. It's great to add power at catcher and DH. This won't impact our search for starting pitching, we have all kinds of money available. The problem with pitching is finding value, not money.
  3. We need Worley, Diamond, Denuno, or Johnson to fill the 5th spot. It's not too much to expect Diamond or Worley will bounce back and/or Denuno will be healthly. IIRC the first 3 are out of options which is why Johnson with his 3 is a smart move.
  4. Arroyo has no chance of not being a difference maker.
  5. I would see if King Theo would take Berrios and Thorpe for Starlin Castro. It looks like they are moving their ETA to 2016 and a salary dump may be attractive.
  6. I agree. It was a marginal plan at best that played out much worse. Ryan ultimately parlayed it into the 5th draft pick. Strengthening PLAN B with Johnson and his 3 options is a solid small move. Duensing and Swarzak starting is PLAN C. It will all make a lot more sense by spring training.
  7. Did you get an opportunity to review Seth's projection of what our favorite team will look like come the season opener in 2015? I can't get Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" to stop playing.
  8. Let's not pretend the Twins were interested. Most teams in baseball have no interest in him because they are convinced his arm is going to fall off.
  9. No need to get too frustrated or disturbed. In 2009 we signed Sano, Polanco, and Kepler.
  10. I think the definition of insanity is coming to conclusions 11-12 days into free agency. You the know the trade season is still 30 days away right?
  11. We are going to be waiting off and on next season, for many of our top prospects to make it to Target Field. The last thing I want to do is wait for a starting pitcher whose arm may fall off. Gibson and Meyer will provide enough upside.
  12. Five on the list are International signings. Does it really matter to you what country they come from or who the GM was?
  13. You can't be higher than #1. Ryan will do what it takes. The trade market has got be 5-10 times the size of free agency. Why would you tie his hands behind his back?
  14. The goal never was to have the top farm system indefinitely. Of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 drafts, only Buxton is in the first wave.
  15. The trade market is so large and diverse, it's really hard to say. I wouldn't be surprised if he went after a Meyer type. The minimum requirement is a starting pitcher ready to go by the start of 2015. The right partner will find our 5-15 prospects very attractive.
  16. 5 are starting pitching prospects and 5 are International signing. We may have been late to the dance a decade ago Internationally, but have more than made up for it. This is a competitive advantage for us going forward. Also, the more recent change in looking for more power arms, appears to be meeting with some success.
  17. Really? Are you one of the ones that got upset when the Twins accepted cash for Jamey Carroll rather than a PTBNL? Maybe it's my business background, but I don't sweat the small stuff.
  18. I think most Twins fans looked on this trade with profound indifference. Terry Ryan panic, not likely.
  19. Pretty good stuff!
  20. The way to get around it is with our 5-15 prospects. Every deal has a walk away price and the night is still young. Let's see how this plays out.
  21. RB, when you ran over the Business Manager carrying her coffee, did you get one of those sticky things for your helmet?
  22. No one said they are mutually exclusive, but they are far from the same thing. We can't even agree on this board with approximately 300 regular posters on how to proceed.
  23. Terry Ryan's priority is to avoid a long rebuild and build a team which can contend in the Central for many years. Fan issues necessarily come second.
