  1. Being worried about losing Worley, Deduno, or Diamond is actually a sign of progress. One makes the rotation, one becomes long man, one goes on DL? Kris Johnson, and his 3 options, was brought in to address this possibility. It will work itself out.
  2. They would not let him start and basically had him pitch in mop up situations. Obviously I don't know, but I would guess they asked him to work on his 3rd pitch etc. In comparison, Meyer never pitched an inning after signing out of college.
  3. How do Tanaka, Garza, Santana, and Jimenez compare, just to put things in perspective? You realize most look at scouting, make-up, and stats before assigning a number? As I have previously posted, he's a solid #3. I'm sure you know there are roughly 40 1's and 2's combined in all of baseball.
  4. College Catcher of the Year, 4th leading hitter in the SEC at .372. I don't recall him being much of a reach. The Twins were linked to every top catcher in the draft and this is the one that fit their draft board.
  5. I would take a longer look. Shane had him at 42 or something and I commented in depth. We need a fast rising starting pitching prospect and I'm guessing this is the one. 2011 Cape Cod pitcher of the year.
  6. Good stuff you guys! I'm watching Turner, Eades, and May.
  7. That ship has sailed or sunk. Three 90 loss seasons in a row, and Ryan should sign a pitcher whose arm may fall off for 8M with a team option for 4M if he fails to make 7 starts.
  8. It looks like Hughes is our next target. Nolasco, Hughes, Correia, Deduno, Gibson Flip Correia at the deadline and insert Meyer.
  9. Calling Swarzak and Duensing starters was just pretend. Diamond, Worley and Deduno are out of options. It will play itself out.
  10. I see it the same way. If we fill another spot in the projected 2015 rotation this winter, it will be via trade. I hate to see us deal our young prospects, but Berrios, Thorpe, Polanco, and Kepler have to be attractive to the right suitor.
  11. Nolasco is a solid #3 on any team not named the Dodgers and Tanaka and Garza would have a hard time squeezing into the #2 for a championship caliber team.
  12. Jay, thanks for your response. I would have thought differently.
  13. The trade market is far larger and much more varied than the free agency market. Like King Theo says, there is no free agency for young players. To get a #2 like Bailey, with an agreed upon extension, I would make all but our untouchables available.
  14. Good job! The only thing I would add is, how the Tanaka deal plays out complicates this free agency period. No way the top tier starting pitchers will sign until that is resolved.
  15. Nick, you hit it on the head!
  16. Good job on your first post!
  17. Before you call someone a liar, don't you think it would be best to have better than 3rd or 4th hand info. Terry Ryan is one of the most honorable people in baseball, even if our favorite team has lost 90+ games 3 years in a row.
  18. I agree, this is the one to get.
  19. The Padres signed Perez, BA's 19th rated prospect for $635,000. Last I heard, your favorite team had spent 3M of the 4M, and then signed at least another player or so. Best guess is they have less than $500,000 left to spent by 6-30-2014.
  20. I agree. I'm guessing they are waiting to see how Tanaka plays out.
  21. Dave can't answer your question, but I would play the best defensive SS we can find next to Sano, for at least the first year or so. Florimon works. I have no doubt an upgrade at SS is on Ryan's to-do list. There is a college SS in the top 5 in the 2014 draft, and I believe King Theo will listen to offers for Starlin Castro at some point in time.
  22. If the Twins think Crow can start, I would use our 5-15 prospects. He came out of the same draft as Gibson and was a highly regarded starter. I never understood why they didn't develop him as a starter, except for the fact they could get immediate value as a relief pitcher. Kansas City hasn't made the play-offs in 28 years. Some organizations take more shortcuts than others.
  23. Pinto has been in the Twins Organization for 8 years. They may do something you do not personally agree with, but it won't be stupid. Sharing duties with the top remaining free agent catcher instead of throwing him to the wolves makes a lot of sense. IMO Salty and Pinto helps make our favorite team, strong up the middle.
