  1. Very good point mike. I knew some day we would agree on something. The position player cavalry will arrive sometime in 2014, and the starting pitching cavalry in 2015.
  2. Parmelee and Colabello are going to be Bensoned. Hammer, Doumit, and Plouffe will be continuously on the block until traded, probably for starting pitching prospects. Arcia and Hicks are part of the core. As the OP stated, many questions have been clearly answered.
  3. I hope May can help Rochester in the plays-off, if not it would be great to see him at Target Field.
  4. I don't disagree with you. Ryan has been back 21 months and I feel he will make some kind of move to improve our dismal starting staff this winter. That said, I believe we can finish close to .500 next season with a below average rotation. I'm guessing he adds one, and possibly even 2 free agents if the September auditions fail. I'm hoping we can position ourselves, so when the parade starts in 2015, our starting rotation is very close to the major league average.
  5. Clutterheart, I think you're very close. I believe we will add a second tier FA, but good job!
  6. I'm not sure of what excuses you are talking about, but these 3 players merely represent 3 opportunities the Twins currently have. I certainly hope they find one they want and put together a successful bid. If they are unsuccessful they will have many more opportunities in the not too distant future. None of the 3 would be in our top 2 prospects and it's not even certain Tanaka would be in our top 2 pitching prospects.
  7. There is no service time game. The goal is to avoid a long rebuild period.
  8. My September goals are very modest. As of today Gibson and Correira are locks for next year's rotation. I don't care who it is, but I would like one more starting pitcher to cement a spot in next year's rotation.
  9. I agree. He didn't go to a big time college, he was only a 3rd pick, who I believe the Twins brought in for a closer look just prior to the draft. My guess is they view him as a high risk/high reward prospect. I believe they will take him step by step thru the organization at whatever pace they feel is best for him. The reward maybe an OF/1B/DH able to provide 15-20 HR's off the bench.
  10. As I understand it, the Twins are in Japan right now taking a closer look. I hope every thing checks out and the Twins make a bid. If that's the case, it appears there are 10+ teams interested and bids may well be in the 50M to 75M range including posting fee.
  11. The Twins do the have #1 rated farm system. What were you hoping for?
  12. Ryan has said on numerous occasions he will not spend money for the sake of spending money. He has never once blamed the Pohlads for not providing the money he needs to help the ball club. How much more honest can you be? Terry Ryan is rebuilding the Twins as quickly as possible with the full and complete support of the Pohlads. I've seen numerous articles in the national media acknowledging the fine work Ryan has done and predicting an early turnaround for the team. You don't have to like or agree with it, but that's what's happening, and the Twins are not the type of organization to panic and abruptly change course.
  13. They will have the bats by 2015. Only question is starting pitching.
  14. I probably should have made it clearer. I don't have the foggiest idea what the terms will be. I just know they will.
  15. I know the Twins will offer a Longoria contract sooner rather than later. I have no idea how long the contract we be for, but the only number that comes to mind is 100M. I think that other young guy who hits home runs may get one also.
  16. Correct. When we dominated the Central in the 2000's we didn't need them.
  17. There is no tanking or crying in baseball.
  18. The Twins aren't the only team desperate for starting pitching willing to take on salary. If it was that easy don't you think Ryan would have already done it?
  19. The Twins should be targeting starting pitching, and when they're done with that, they should target more starting pitching. I have little doubt they are already targeting their preferred choices in the second tier free agent market. Also, with the high draft choice they are earning, I'm sure they are following certain college starters much more closely than others. They will take the BPA, but with a draft projected to be 7-8 deep, a college starter would be ideal.
  20. I don't see it. 19 years old, only in America since 2012, has potential for an above average fastball. I'm not big on labeling players, cause I never see two who look the same. This is the type of transaction where Ryan and our scouts shine. I'm too lazy to look, was Hernandez ever 13th on a team's prospect list?
  21. Whom are we opening up space for? Correia and Gibson are the only locks I see in the rotation. Hammer is absolutely at his lowest value right now. Let's see how it looks at next year's trade deadline. Doumit is a versatile and valuable piece in the AL. I have no doubt he was, is, and will be available in the right deal.
  22. I don't think the Twins organization lags behind anyone or lacks for anything. The ownership practically invented money, and begged Ryan to come out of semi-retirement to right the ship. Ryan is recognized amongst his peers as one of the finest minds in all of baseball and if there was anything he needed, I'm sure Barbara Eden would show up in his office promptly.
  23. I don't think it's an automatic that Rosario will beat out Dozier. Also, I just read somewhere where Ryan said Rosario projects at every position. No idea what he meant by that. The Twins will deal blocked prospects and have vets to trade who were simply beat out by better players, but I don't believe that time has come.
  24. I think the greatest thing before sliced bread was the wheel. To this day people are still reminded they don't have to invent the wheel.
  25. Do I dare ask where you got the 6 years and $55M? I'm guessing you made a WAG, but will certainly stand being corrected. Edit: Just read an article in Rant Sports. All it said was it could cost $80M. No other details.
