  1. I just read an article where the Twins are 10th in season tickets sold and 17th in total tickets sold. With Sano and Buxton on the way, I can't imagine it's a major concern.
  2. I hope this isn't a paraphrase like the one where Ryan said he wasn't going to sign a free agent ever again.
  3. Holy Cow, Bob! What would Harry say?
  4. I'm not going to repeat post #10, but I wouldn't want to wait that long. Congratulations to the Indians, but I like our future much better.
  5. But they were competitive long term and 3 years of drafting high and they will be competitive again.
  6. All Ryan has to do is hit on the 3 draft classes where we finally had high picks. If you want a down and dirty look on how the rebuild is going just look at Buxton, Stewart, and our top pick in 2014. There is no magical formula to drafting.
  7. Let me add 2 thoughts. I agree you never want to put yourself in a position where you are dependent on one young starting pitcher. We were stuck this year waiting for Gibson, and we don't want to be stuck next year waiting for Meyer. That's why the wish list is Hughes+Tananka or the Cuban pitcher. If we get outbid in the International market, we need another FA starting pitcher better than anyone we currently have. The trade for a starting pitcher for a Hicks or Rosario type prospect and a major league reliever, I believe is a year premature and there is no need to spent 100M on Ellsbury to get in that position. Just my thoughts.
  8. It really is that simple. If things don't quite work out, there is still plenty of time before the parade starts in 2015.
  9. Let me clarify. If our scouts give the okay on a starting pitcher or pitchers, IMO we should spend the money on said starting pitcher or pitchers until there is no more money left. With Dozier, Rosario, and the $750,000 invested in Polanco, I'm cool with the situation at 2B.
  10. Mike, in your own words, could you share with those keeping score at home, exactly how these 7 tried, true, and proven professionals caused the need for the rebuild?
  11. After 22 months of rebuilding, with only 19 months left, your blueprint for success is off with their heads? This is just lazy and a proven way to extend the rebuilding indefinitely. I would really encourage you to read the positive articles the national media is directing toward our tried, true, and proven organization.
  12. This is one of the reasons why I had no problem with not signing Guerrero. A starting pitcher becomes available from a "somewhat predictable nowhere" after we argued for 21 pages to sign the Dodgers projected 2B.
  13. I'm just starting to take a look at the way too early projected picks. 4th would be great, but 5th will work just fine. As an OP has stated this draft is made for us. At a quick glance, I see our C or SS of the future, or an ace.
  14. Stay the course. Panicking after 22 months would prolong the rebuild indefinitely which is what occurs in poorly run and/or inexperienced organizations. This same group successfully rebuilt the Twins within memory and will do so again. The strength of our farm system and the speed of the current rebuild has already garnered attention from the national media. Good second post the_youngster! If things were different, I'd grab Ellsbury also, but not for the projected 100M when outfielders will shortly be an organizational strength. I want Hughes also plus one more starting pitcher from free agency. Tanaka would do just fine. Once again good job.
  15. 6. Think about the Swiss.....the Swiss think Americans have a poor work ethic and have too many holidays.....the guys and I work for the Swiss.....they pretend they pay us well and we pretend we're working.
  16. That could be, or it could be after only 22 months back from semi-retirement, Ryan is admitting the rebuild isn't done, and he prefers to have a tried and proven manager to lead our beloved Twins back to past glories.
  17. I really don't care one way or the other, but it makes no sense to fire a tried and proven manager. I saw a rumor that King Theo may have Gardy and Girardi on a short list.
  18. Why would the Pohlads renege on their sacred oath to the taxpayers of Hennepin County based on hypothetical other teams? I have no reason to believe they do not carry the money forward. Surely the media would report such a transgression.
  19. Maybe, maybe not. It was recently brought to my attention on another thread, that the Pohlads made a commitment whereby on average payroll would be 50% of revenue. It one believes they made a firm commitment, it only follows that any shortages are added to the following years. It's a double-edged sword. You either believe they made a commitment to taxpayers for help with the funding of the new stadium, or you don't.
  20. I agree this is the first time I have heard they are showing interest. I believe I also read there is a showcase in the DR for those who were previously underage.
  21. Did you get a chance to read post #3, where Seth posted he agrees 100% with Ryan on Free Agency? I bet if you ask nicely, he will explain it to you. Several of the young lions on the board grossly misinterpreted, as is their nature, one Terry Ryan quote concluding that he would not spend a single penny on FA's now or forever. Fortunately several of the old school posters were on hand to show them the error of their ways. Indeed Ryan will sign one, if not multiples of free agent starting pitchers this off season.
  22. I don't think we are going to be horrible next year. I think we will make the leap to not very good.
  23. Some things I only do for money. If you're talking an ownership interest, have your people get ahold of mine.
  24. IMHO, rebuilding is one of those things in life, where if you have to ask, it's probably impossible to explain it to you.
  25. The limitation is the GM's ability to find and sign value. King Theo recently said something interesting about how people thought you merely had to "X" a box to obtain the FA's you wanted. Only 30 GM's in all of baseball, there's a never ending supply of fans who know a better way.
