Right now he looks like a pretty easy out. he's one of those when he does hit it. it's a thing of beauty, but how often will that occur? Dave Kingman comes to mind New York Mets I don't know when maybe late 1970s not sure. he would put 40 home runs on the board with a 210 batting average. there had to be a lot of time up to bed when the team needed a hit and he wasn't able to supply one. The people that evaluate like the hitting coaches working with the player. they know all this. so let's see what they can do with him over the winter. otherwise it's not going to look good next year.

Yes I couldn't agree more. Rojas after that one outing where he walked everybody. he's done very well at the major League level and then he gets sent down to AAA. why? if a 4.74 is your picture of the year, the pitching part of your amount of leagues is got to be pretty bad. I mean look at the ones who got honorable mention. so many of those were over four on there and red average. for that to be successful, your offense is going to have to score at least six runs a game.

Week in Review: Walker's Awakening
killercarewoliva replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
on Bailey over what was this three seasons ago? middle of the year you had a 2.61 era and then everything collapsed. I love watching this guy pitch because that was exhibited Sunday afternoon which is he just lobs the ball in there and they swing at it and miss it. there was a similar picture in Baltimore, probably 1970s. I can't remember his name. Great young man. he threw the ball super slow and he was very successful. Bailey over has a higher and run average right now, but I am still convinced he can be a really good Major league pitcher. Lord knows he's a great team player. he did look good as a long reliever yesterday, didn't he?- 12 replies

in baseball it's hard to know and there have been some bad trades and some good trades in the past 50 years. but that thing with varland unbelievable so bad. but there is a butt. I don't think it's going to be a total loss. Rojas has pitched well. after his initial walking everybody you see the potential even when he's walking somebody the movement on his pitches. when he strikes them out, they are out and now after his latest injury. yes I would love to see him on that man one more time. let him throw that ball for a while. I think he could be a dynamic starter. that is if he has the strength to pitch that many innings at one time.

Week in Review: Turning the Page
killercarewoliva replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
at this point with Jenkins, I like to pay close attention to every swing every non swing and he is not very close to putting it together. we always read people saying bring them up because they have nothing left to prove where they are. this is the hardest sport to truly evaluate and it come out right every time but there's more movement on those pitches in the major leagues and he's having a lot of problem catching up with them. He's a fantastic young man however. enormously respectful so I think he fits the persona of a Minnesota twins player so I'm really hoping for him to get it going. Right now though, I don't know if he's going to make the starting lineup next year. I like to see Mendez come up and get a few starts.- 24 replies

in that recent message I'm referring to before we knew Joe Ryan's ability to pitch was going to fall apart. he could have two more starts and not even give up a run and I don't think you could get as much for him as you would before these issues he's currently having.

there can certainly be plenty of opinions on this. not that one's more right than another. I have my opinion and let's go back to when free agency began and salaries went as high as the Moon is from the earth making everybody have to pay through the nose to go to sporting events. ultimately whatever game it is you're paying big bucks for. it's still just a game. I am a major devoted twins follower since the middle 1960s. The Minnesota twins have hired back then and even now some of the greatest young men on and off the field which is why I follow the twins all the way from the state of Virginia. to my point is there used to be the players generally stayed with the same team and the fans knew who their team was and wanted to support those people. with free agency there is a continuation of players changing the teams they play for because they can with the rules. when there was no free agency, sometimes the players might not want it to stay on that team, but the fans didn't always know that they just rooted for them. to have removed the number one and number two starter both or either one of them I feel would have caused major dissension amongst the fans trying to get them to the ballpark because of the previous several years. hey honey you want to go to the game tonight. oh well sweetheart. who's playing? we'll see when we get there. well that's a slight exaggeration but I feel they should have kept both players and they did. and another reason why is when their time comes where they can be a free agent. the Minnesota twins can't afford to pay most of them, so you better keep the ones you can as long as possible when you live in that situation so the fans can get some kind of familiarity with what in the world is on the ball field.

I see Alex Jackson as a great team player but he just doesn't get to play. whenever he has played he has excelled and I know this isn't his history but sometimes you don't want to look at the past. you look at the present and think about the future. do not let this player go. and being out of contention give him a few starts. see if he can keep his batting average around .300

very good reply here. I'm reading this article and I'm stunned by the conversation that culpepper is a great defensive shortstop. I haven't seen that. I'm watching the games. he makes mistakes well. it may be the most mistake-prong position in the game. you're going to see errors but some of it is not Major league ready baseball. nothing about him. I think he's a wonderful young man but from what I read I've never seen Houston play. he is the most elite defensive player in the organization. wow! who wouldn't put him at shortstop just because culpeper's arm is a little bit better. no, you put Houston at shortstop. let him compete with the best offenders in the game of baseball. That's what it sounds like he is so go for it. put Culpeper at second and if brooks lee leaves yeah put him over on 3rd. I think Lee has improved a lot this year. he's so good at third base and his hitting has improved. he's getting a good amount of runs batted in also. wherever you put them, you got all three of those guys on the field. then have an 80 RBI first baseman All sounds good.

The Comprehensive Guide To Twins Daily
killercarewoliva commented on Brock Beauchamp's guide in Guides & Resources
when I see I have a reply or two from something I have said I can get to the first one but after that anything else is gone every time. I cannot read or reply to anything but the very first one. -
when I've seen him running the bases sliding in the second for example, the man looks like a superstar. maybe he'll flounder around just like Walker Jenkins house so far, but maybe not. it makes no sense to not have him up seeing what he can do when next season he has to make the roster. it doesn't sound like they intend to keep him unless they bring him up in the next few days.
-
I might not be the smartest guy in the world on this, but Jackson hits the baseball very well and is an adequate catcher unlike his past. somehow he's doing well when he gets the chance and he rarely gets to chance which means his average should be very low but it's not. we see constant articles. advocating players moving to the major leagues because they're mentally. statistics are so great. then they get to the major leagues. come to find out those pictures have a lot more movement on them and the batters with the 400 average in AAA find it real difficult to have any sort of adequate average of at the major league level. we all love Mr. Jenkins. he wears those his nice t-shirt with Jesus on it. a great young man, but it's back in average so far is .130. I feel 100% sure he's going to be a great major. leaguer but trying to put Mr. lackey on the major league team next season by what he's doing in single A I mean who is writing this stuff?

I am looking at a team of average to above average hitting. two people who might reach low 80s to upper 80s in rbi this year they can put some excitement on the field. like and Clemons. lots of bonehead mistakes on the field though. Culpeper looks like a great future player but he really has to work on that defense. correct. we lost some good pitching especially Abel on the new pitching group. a little more healthy going on next year with the starting pitching we could have an excellent group of five. I feel we gave too much for Hoffman. it was like this was our lights out closer. well he's not exactly that. rating each position for offense and defense. how many star guides do we have on the field? we have some sort of adequate guys on the field. we need more power in the lineup. we're not hitting 307 homers anymore. I would like to see Rodriguez come up for a couple of weeks who goes down well since we have been Ross up maybe real good guy kriedler just because he's he's no hitting but please dfa our third catcher Alex again. he had a chance to play a little bit and got another hit over 300 hitter. I don't think we'll have Jeffers next year, so this guy is sorely needed until one of the new catchers is ready. I love watching him come to bat. 24 million a season is probably low. crazy money baseball for Jeffers. I do not believe that kind of money should be spent. plus it would need to be several years. at least then we can't play the new guys because we're not going to put $24 million plus on the bench. Yes I realize you need two catchers but at that money he needs to be a guy that plays about 65% of the time. I seem to be seeing a much better situation next season. there is a lot to like to put around Buxton in the outfield and when he's hurt there is good replacement people. what did we see? four guys from AAA on the field came before last? I looked at that as a better representation of what this team has available. there are so many Major league ready outfielders that bat left. you can't just leave them sitting down there and you can't play but three at a time. so what you have to do is get some pitching for some of them. I think a lot of great improvement can be made with all that left-handed hitting. okay got to go

I made a comment about Culpeper that he just wasn't getting much of a batting average going then he took off. hopefully Jenkins can do the same thing because he's finding Major league pitching to be a bit more difficult. everyday. he's killing the ball at AAA but right now it's average as well under .200. like Culpeper that's just a few games. give it a little more time. let's get a little more lift on the ball.

baseball used to be four starters. trying to remember the orio's head. Dobson cuellar Palmer I can see his face the fourth one and the all were 20 game winners all on one team. so we're worried about a starting pitcher throwing over 100 innings at that time. 300s was possible. let's say he gets $10 million because he has a winning record and throws 100 innings and wins seven games. as it is now you can have some 200 inning people and they're paying 20% of the team's games and they can make $25 million at 20%. this is crazy. so if you're lucky real lucky the guy picks up 20 wins but we play 162 games. how is that worth all that money? they need to be able to do something else on the field and some of them can. Go back to high school level. they're pitching great games and might be the star hitter on the team also and play shortstop when they're not pitching then they might be worth the money at the current market. but if a guy can't pitch 100 games without having a sore arm, maybe he needs a different profession or take a salary of $50,000 for the year.

The Future is Now for the Minnesota Twins
killercarewoliva replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I cannot come up with a place for Luke to play at. that can be tolerated if he can hit 330. on the Jenkins first night, I think it was the walk. you know the pitching is going to try to get a batter to chase and he was offered a pitch that was outside but close and I think a lot of guys would have swung at that but he did not. for first day in the major leagues. that was quite impressive.- 67 replies

The Future is Now for the Minnesota Twins
killercarewoliva replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think they gave up too much for a Hoffman. look who took his place with Toronto because he just wasn't getting the job done that well. he gets the batter to chase a pitch that's not exactly in the zone. I haven't seen him do a lot of that since he entered the twins dug out. this was supposed to be our big catch for the bullpen. earned run average around 4 is not a big catch and you don't give up a possible superstar for that.- 67 replies

I can't seem to get these videos but to answer the question in my mind he was given minor league picture of the year with an end-run average over Four. The talk is on TV he has all this outstanding potential and he does get some strikeouts. the strikeouts aren't going to win you every ball game. you have to be able to get outs other ways and he can't seem to do that. so has he slept no because of injuries. he was brought up too soon to pitch on the major league level when he's not ready for that. so let's not fault him. injuries happen quite badly for this team when it comes to pitching. in other words, don't ask for so much from a Madeline pitcher when his run average is well over to do well in the major leagues.

Is This The End For Trevor Larnach?
killercarewoliva replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes, that brings up a point that I've tried to make in my own mind. so let you a nice gentleman. get me started. we are overloaded with left-handed hitters who can hit really well but who is scouting these guys? we have the second basement who went to rightfield and when boxing's not there. sometimes he's in centerfield and the ball just goes over his head or he just can't field the ball very well there are a number of examples of poor defense in the field. didn't are scouting people notice that before they drafted these guys? or were they just looking at someone who can bang the ball hard? and don't worry about the defense, we'll teach that to them later? I just don't understand because the Minnesota twins used to be known for great defense. how many games has the team lost this season because of the defense? might be tied with Chicago for first place or a little better if they could play their positions.- 29 replies
