The twins evidently have just caratini that they think is Major league ready next season if Jeffries leaves. that is very likely to happen. was his defense terrible when he did catch? was he not hitting when he went to bat while Jeffries was injured? he definitely hit the ball over 300 average. I thought he caught fairly well. frankly, I don't know why he didn't get more playing time because he showed himself to be a good player. not a superstar but a good player and a great attitude. I'm going to go out on the limb and make a really stupid statement. that's what everybody thinks because I think next season until the first round pick is ready. this guy can take up the slack. I think that's why they keep bringing him back.

making changes towards the eight players in the field. suddenly there's some good AAA coming up. it's not just one or two people. so what do you do with everybody else? they are still pretty young players say the last 2 years the same guys mostly.. caratini makes a nice team effort but improvement is needed like throwing people out and hitting the baseball. first base in my opinion needs to be traded. I love Mr. Lewis's enthusiasm but you have to hit the ball. I'm surprised that is defense at first, not perfect by any means, but he's made some real good plays over there. the second base you know Mr. Clemons is hitting in the 230s but he has decent amount of home runs and RBIs and he can play most anywhere adequately. shortstop Culpeper definitely makes some errors, but he looks good at the plate. doesn't he Houston? I think he gets a lot of stolen. bases hits the baseball really well and plays extraordinary defense. so maybe around August. if we get lucky he could come up then Culpeper would move to second. what do you do? sit Clements on the bench. third Base I look for more next year out of Lee because he's improving everywhere the game requires. then there's the outfield Rodriguez. made an extraordinary catch last night and he really got excited but you can't get excited about his play at the plate. so far he is below average strikes out too much. we do not want another Sano. but Rodriguez must stay on the team. so there needs to be a lot of improvement before spring training starts for his hitting. If Bell does not return then at such a young age but Keaschell I can't get to be top top quality outfielder. that's the DH and try not to be so aggressive on the basis. He's made outs doing that. he is phenomenal to watch out there though. sometimes I have read complaints about Bell Daddy's just not that good or whatever. well, he leads the team in RBIs everybody. I think he's at 93 right now. if I could have a team of 90 RBI people I would certainly sign everyone up to play. who can do that. That's a super successful season. of course we have Mr. Roden. fun guy to watch at the plate. maybe he would be next in line for outfield. certainly should make the team. not the best player but I really like Mr. Martin. he was hitting 333 when the decision was made to have him play against right and left-handers. when you have like 50 extra left-handed hitters so to speak that are all good. you should be able to get some good pitching in a trade. that way they're not all down there wasting away in AAA. seriously on Mr. Lewis I don't think the twins are going to get a lot for him in a trade. oh yes, I must mention Mr. Jenkins attempt in central field. honestly, I did not think he was going to get to that ball but he over got to the ball because it hit him in the heel of the glove. that's a hard play to make when you're moving that fast and you're in the air, but it would have been incredible if he could have caught that. some players are going to have to move on in order for these younger players to take their place that we need to do. we have Mr Mendez waiting. we have Mr. Gonzalez been sent back down twice waiting. you know I really like Mr. sabato but he may not be able to hit well enough. defense is not fantastic I understand, but wouldn't it be great if he could play a little defense and hit 30 home runs. then you got a good first base situation.

The local Richmond news probably 30 years ago talked about going to Baltimore and a family of four. would have to spend $200 to see a baseball game that that was excruciatingly high price. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a game. it's not a doctor giving you a transplanted heart. how much money should the doctors have made when rod Carew got a new heart and a new kidney all in one operation? what is that worth? He's not going to get probably $350,000 for that day's work is he? let's take how people dress up at the football games. yes, I'm a Vikings fan also since 1968. players see all this nonsense grown men or out on the field wearing like Oakland raiders fans grown men looking stupid. why? because the players are laughing at them all the way to the bank, it's not high school. it's professional. they play for who gives them the most money. they don't care about Oakland when they play there. we need to wise up and boycott all Major league sports to make it feasible. nearby is the lowest level of Madeline ice hockey tickets. average $100 a game. it's pretty close to that with AA baseball used to sit behind home plate in Richmond when the Minnesota twins AAA team came to town $11 behind home plate. that's $100 now. it's minorly sports. what is it? you don't understand. it's breaking my heart. you're willing to give up all this money.

okay let me try to do this. seemingly a lot of people don't care what the prices are when I talk prices on here. prices are crazy and 75% of the stadiums. if you sit way up high you do okay. living in Virginia. my closest team was Baltimore so for about 8 years I got a seat like the third row right at the beginning of the upper deck behind home plate. you really aren't that far away up there. if you're in the third row, the price was $20 for 8 years in a row. The cheapest place to see a ball game as far as I know during all those years is the Baltimore Orioles because the owner said he did not want to buy players that cost so much and didn't make it too costly for the clientele to come to a game. so what do you want him to buy the $50 million a year player? or just put a good product on the field so you can afford to go to it whoever you are? The very first free agent I think was Jim catfish Hunter in Oakland. the person who started all this heavy money was George steinbrenner and he paid Jim $350,000 for one season not even ever heard of before. I think a lot of guys would play for that right now

I think Jackson got DFA'd again but I really like the guy. I think. Houston when he comes up will move Culpeper to second base because Culpeper isn't above average shortstop and Houston is from what we know. A+. He's also hitting pretty good.

we have a problem. I'm talking about all of baseball. Bryce Harper would not shake hands with a commissioner because the commissioner is talking salary cap yet. Harper makes $30 million a year for 10 years. how many tickets do you have to sell to give this guy his $30 million? and what's this? jerk complaining about salary started to escalate in the 1980s. you know the first $6 million player was Kirby Puckett not a New York player or a Los Angeles player. it was Kirby Puckett. if the cost to pay a player averaged $1 million a year, the players would still jump on that because they're not likely to make that much not even close in a year anywhere else. Derek Jeter a really good guy was on David Letterman and he was asked about baseball and his reply had to do with money where he said crazy money and he was making 15K. why do people think it's okay to get screwed at the ballpark basketball football? there are a lot of $2,000 seats in the national basketball association. wouldn't you like to sit close to the field just once? take a family of four pay $1,200 plus concession in parking. you want to do that? because if people don't they wouldn't be baseball salaries like this anyway.

I'm thinking how to say this. all the major sports are about spending money to put a winning team on the field of play. with baseball it used to be how well you can evaluate your draft picks and how well you can determine what you think. a player is going to be like next year by trading for him. no sport is harder to do with that than baseball. but now it's become more about how much personnel to put on the field you can buy instead of using your brain as a general manager to decide who to trade for who to pick in the draft. most of the time money will make a difference, but don't ask the New York Mets that. this all started with the New York Yankees. George steinbrunner was willing to put out whatever he had to to win baseball games. I don't think he even thought about with the farm system was like let's just buy a championship. personally, I don't think winning that way. is any fun at all but today if you depend on your draft picks and your trades with $100 million team salary to get over the hump, it's not going to happen. so you have to go out there and put out these millions and millions of dollars. we need a salary cap like the NFL has in every baseball. player wants to run to the hills and not play next year. if there's a salary cap well it's not going to put you in the $95,000 a year range for income. the salary cap is still going to pay you crazy money just like the NFL does but it might put a few more people in the stands cuz maybe the $300 single game seat could be $150. players don't think about your greed so much as the people that come to see you. you're still going to make tons of money. yes, I want to see the Minnesota twins win a championship since I've been filing them since 1965. it's been a long time. but my two vehicles used to have twins on their license plate here in Virginia. I have removed that I don't have any interest in wearing twins clothing to a ball game anymore because of the greed. seeing grown men dress up like they do at a football game. Right now he looks like a pretty easy out. he's one of those when he does hit it. it's a thing of beauty, but how often will that occur? Dave Kingman comes to mind New York Mets I don't know when maybe late 1970s not sure. he would put 40 home runs on the board with a 210 batting average. there had to be a lot of time up to bed when the team needed a hit and he wasn't able to supply one. The people that evaluate like the hitting coaches working with the player. they know all this. so let's see what they can do with him over the winter. otherwise it's not going to look good next year.

Yes I couldn't agree more. Rojas after that one outing where he walked everybody. he's done very well at the major League level and then he gets sent down to AAA. why? if a 4.74 is your picture of the year, the pitching part of your amount of leagues is got to be pretty bad. I mean look at the ones who got honorable mention. so many of those were over four on there and red average. for that to be successful, your offense is going to have to score at least six runs a game.

on Bailey over what was this three seasons ago? middle of the year you had a 2.61 era and then everything collapsed. I love watching this guy pitch because that was exhibited Sunday afternoon which is he just lobs the ball in there and they swing at it and miss it. there was a similar picture in Baltimore, probably 1970s. I can't remember his name. Great young man. he threw the ball super slow and he was very successful. Bailey over has a higher and run average right now, but I am still convinced he can be a really good Major league pitcher. Lord knows he's a great team player. he did look good as a long reliever yesterday, didn't he?

in baseball it's hard to know and there have been some bad trades and some good trades in the past 50 years. but that thing with varland unbelievable so bad. but there is a butt. I don't think it's going to be a total loss. Rojas has pitched well. after his initial walking everybody you see the potential even when he's walking somebody the movement on his pitches. when he strikes them out, they are out and now after his latest injury. yes I would love to see him on that man one more time. let him throw that ball for a while. I think he could be a dynamic starter. that is if he has the strength to pitch that many innings at one time.

at this point with Jenkins, I like to pay close attention to every swing every non swing and he is not very close to putting it together. we always read people saying bring them up because they have nothing left to prove where they are. this is the hardest sport to truly evaluate and it come out right every time but there's more movement on those pitches in the major leagues and he's having a lot of problem catching up with them. He's a fantastic young man however. enormously respectful so I think he fits the persona of a Minnesota twins player so I'm really hoping for him to get it going. Right now though, I don't know if he's going to make the starting lineup next year. I like to see Mendez come up and get a few starts.

in that recent message I'm referring to before we knew Joe Ryan's ability to pitch was going to fall apart. he could have two more starts and not even give up a run and I don't think you could get as much for him as you would before these issues he's currently having.

there can certainly be plenty of opinions on this. not that one's more right than another. I have my opinion and let's go back to when free agency began and salaries went as high as the Moon is from the earth making everybody have to pay through the nose to go to sporting events. ultimately whatever game it is you're paying big bucks for. it's still just a game. I am a major devoted twins follower since the middle 1960s. The Minnesota twins have hired back then and even now some of the greatest young men on and off the field which is why I follow the twins all the way from the state of Virginia. to my point is there used to be the players generally stayed with the same team and the fans knew who their team was and wanted to support those people. with free agency there is a continuation of players changing the teams they play for because they can with the rules. when there was no free agency, sometimes the players might not want it to stay on that team, but the fans didn't always know that they just rooted for them. to have removed the number one and number two starter both or either one of them I feel would have caused major dissension amongst the fans trying to get them to the ballpark because of the previous several years. hey honey you want to go to the game tonight. oh well sweetheart. who's playing? we'll see when we get there. well that's a slight exaggeration but I feel they should have kept both players and they did. and another reason why is when their time comes where they can be a free agent. the Minnesota twins can't afford to pay most of them, so you better keep the ones you can as long as possible when you live in that situation so the fans can get some kind of familiarity with what in the world is on the ball field.

I see Alex Jackson as a great team player but he just doesn't get to play. whenever he has played he has excelled and I know this isn't his history but sometimes you don't want to look at the past. you look at the present and think about the future. do not let this player go. and being out of contention give him a few starts. see if he can keep his batting average around .300

very good reply here. I'm reading this article and I'm stunned by the conversation that culpepper is a great defensive shortstop. I haven't seen that. I'm watching the games. he makes mistakes well. it may be the most mistake-prong position in the game. you're going to see errors but some of it is not Major league ready baseball. nothing about him. I think he's a wonderful young man but from what I read I've never seen Houston play. he is the most elite defensive player in the organization. wow! who wouldn't put him at shortstop just because culpeper's arm is a little bit better. no, you put Houston at shortstop. let him compete with the best offenders in the game of baseball. That's what it sounds like he is so go for it. put Culpeper at second and if brooks lee leaves yeah put him over on 3rd. I think Lee has improved a lot this year. he's so good at third base and his hitting has improved. he's getting a good amount of runs batted in also. wherever you put them, you got all three of those guys on the field. then have an 80 RBI first baseman All sounds good.

when I've seen him running the bases sliding in the second for example, the man looks like a superstar. maybe he'll flounder around just like Walker Jenkins house so far, but maybe not. it makes no sense to not have him up seeing what he can do when next season he has to make the roster. it doesn't sound like they intend to keep him unless they bring him up in the next few days.
