  1. Sport invented by the Greeks in the original Olympics.
  2. What in the world has gotten into Baltimore? They clobbered Boston.
  3. It's what I tell myself after I've had a truly bad meal. Meals that were memorably bad. Meals that make one pine for the haute cuisine of McDonalds.
  4. Well, color me surprised, Perez made it through 6 innings. Nice, job, sir!
  5. Need a bad meal once in a while to better appreciate the good ones.
  6. I already did and now want a refund. But, I guess "you broke it you bought it" applies.
  7. Yo, would you mind editing "March 15" to be "April 15?" Thanks.
  8. Crud, tried to do a riff on the Ides of March and screwed up. With any luck, a mod will notice and fix it.
  9. Disclaimer: The start time is taken from MLB.com. This post in no way endorses these weird start times. Thank you for your understanding and please tip your waitress. Regards, Not the management.
  10. Today, I thought I'd check in, and see how the Twins are faring in the standings: Surprise Surprise, the Twins are in first place in the Central. However, it is March, March 15th to be exact and, the long-time nemesis for the Twins are in town. Of course, it appears the Jays are trending down right now, though they do play in the AL East. Having watched the Twins early in the season, I've yet to figure out if the Twins are finding ways to win or if their opponents are finding ways to lose. Maybe a little of A and a little of B? No matter, the Twins lead the Central and have a respectable record. Pitching for the Twins: Martin Perez Pitching for the Blue Jays: Matt Shoemaker. Play ball!
  11. Due to prior commitments, your humble host will be out doing stuff outdoors. Lineups, as seems to be the norm for this particular game thread author, will be the responsibility of one of my two faithful readers. (Okay, yes, I may be a bit generous in my estimate of faithful readers) *Disclaimer: Reading this in no way represents the views of the owners of this wonderful blog. The views expressed are purely my own, unless I'm off my meds, then please blame Irene for not keeping an eye on me.
  12. Despite the outcome of the last game the Twins played against the Mets, the Twins still came away with a winning road trip. An outcome that was lacking last year. Unfortunately, the Twins return home to play the Tigers, managed by ex-Twins manager, Ron Gardenhire, who appears to have his club playing well. At least, according to the standings. And, more importantly, the Twins get to put the silly "futility player" of the NL behind them. Yes, I mean the lack of DH where the pitcher "hits," hence, "futility player." With that, we move on to more pressing matters, such as, pitching. Specifically, starting pitching. More specifically, the starting pitching today. Twins: Michael Pineda Detroit: Tyson Ross. Looks to be a good one...for a Twins win, amiright! Play ball!
  13. The problem I see with what I consider to be the "all or nothing" approach to hitting is that it devalues putting the ball in play. Okay, two strikes, put the ball in play, make the opposing team field the ball, rather than striking out.
  14. I couldn't watch the Twins either and turned it off. Uggh.
  15. Had to turn it off after that last Perez walk. I'll check the box score later, maybe.
  16. As has been mentioned, the pen has been heavily used this road trip, which is why a fresh arm was brought up. Vasquez has control issues, according to Bremer, as in he's hit and walked batters in past appearances. I get hitting one guy but being completely unable to throw strikes? Not sure this kid is going to make it.
  17. I'd rather have seen Duffey over Vasquez this evening.
  18. I've always liked baseball because inevitably I see something I've never seen before. In this case, I could have gone my whole life without seeing that.
  19. I'd rather have taken my chances with Odorizzi at this point.
  20. De Jong and Vasquez both need to be gone.
  21. I'd rather have seen Duffey after the outing by De Jong.
