  1. Unfortunately a raw prospect like this won't be to the Majors for 4 years and that would be a fast timetable. This is an AAP to follow for the next several years.
  2. Congratulations, Happy Anniversary, Happy Birthday, Happy Valentines day!
  3. Im hoping that a lot of names disappear off this list at AAA and MLB by mid season as AA guys push up and push others out. We can hope some names like Santiago, Santana, and Hughes do so well that we can trade them for more upside depth in the system as well. I believe our hopes and prayers rest with the ability of Falvey/Lavine to change our system so that our pitchers develop for a change.
  4. Thanks for sharing that article Thrylos. Fascinating. You would think the Twins could afford to send a million that way some day for some upgrades and amenities.
  5. I think you are talking about last years organization and I for one am a lot less certain this is true with this years organization.
  6. Seeing only 4 OF at AA, 5 at MLB, AAA, and A+ and 6 at A-... Any chance of one moving up from A+ to fill out AA and one of the 6 moving up from A- to fill the new hole at A+? Seeing this shortage of AA ready players helps me understand the FA MiLB signings as filler especially when none of the AA to AAA guys wow me. Looks like the best we have is 4th and 5th outfielders in our future. We NEED Rosario, Buxton, and Kepler to succeed!
  7. I like our position at catcher better than any year since Mauer went down. Not having a backup plan for what became Mauer's catching demise was a huge organizational mistake. I like this year having Castro as the starter and Murphy as the backup with Garver on his heals. If Murphy stumbles, Garver comes in. If both stumble we have Chris Gimenez. If both do well, we have someone to trade away mid season.
  8. I completely get this. I am disappointed but have nothing specific I can point to and say "that should have been different". I am actually really big on our new catcher signing hoping a better receiver can be the on field pitching coach these young pitchers need. I wanted a SS signed. ANYONE that could be a defensive upgrade. I REALLY hoped they did not sign one of the free agent SP's. We have enough mid-rotation, veteran SP's. I'm glad that did not happen. I hoped Santana and/or Dozier could be flipped for High End MiLB SP talent. I didn't need/want MLB ready but it needed to be a fair trade for a potential 1-2 SP plus other prospects. I wanted a better 4th/5th outfielder signed. I guess that could have happened but I don't know what $ numbers were offered and rejected. Ok, heres the move I AM disappointed in, DSan needs to be cut loose. IF he makes the 25 man roster.... I don't even know what to say about that.... Just holy wow, he's still here? So, I couldn't say a lot of things should have been different but it was disappointing especially after the promising start of a quick Catcher signing and a couple of necessary cuts.
  9. Why not just simply track number of pitches? That with K vs B rate, and Balls in Play give a much better picture of a pitcher than innings. I have wondered why pitchers were measured by innings instead of pitches for many years going back to the 80s and 90s. It's like tracking Wins which is punishing good pitchers on bad teams. When the guy throws a 25 pitch inning because of 2 errors behind him, its Not his fault he didn't get into the 8th inning...
  10. Had a great time. Brought my friend Norm Peterson who quickly became a crowd favorite just for the sake of his name (and winning at rock paper scissors). His interest in TD took a sharp uptick. Thanks for making him feel welcomed! Jack really is just an every day geek like most of us (except he likes the Packers, BOOO!!) He was approachable after his time on stage and Great choice of guests LaTroy was awesome. Too cool for most of us to hang out with in the real world but for a night we were with the cool guy. (Boy did the ladies heads follow him everywhere he went...) And, Bonnes, you married over your head, good for you! (Trust me, I out kicked my coverage as well!) Tell the Mrs. I enjoyed chatting with her between waves of people coming in the door.
  11. This article is another example of why we need something more than a "like" button...Lets bring back the "(insert name) Would like to buy (Insert name) A steak" button.
  12. Topic Missed: The Grass was not greener on the other side Falvey and Lavine fail to make improvements to the organization as a whole. The Twins lose all sense of identity they had not already lost with nothing positive to replace it and the death spiral leads to contraction. Target field sits empty for three years until a failing Florida team is relocated to "Greener Pastures"
  13. I was disappointed that the podcast ended mid sentence...
  14. I am a little surprised to see Molina ahead of Balazovic and Clemensia considering you have him pretty much slotted as a utility guy with a light bat. I just don't see the upside over the younger pitchers other than he has already shown he should be advancing to High A.
  15. This has to be one of my favorite interviews you have done. I hope he gets a shot at a cup of coffee some day.
  16. Hopefully Falvey will have seen the benefits from this years event and give you more time next year...
  17. Well, I just looked through the "25 man" and "40 Man" rosters (which have 40 and 56 players on them respectively) and it becomes REALLY obvious looking at them that we need an upgrade at 3rd/4th OF (depending on your view of Rosario). The Youth of Buxton/Rosario/Kepler supported by Grossman-DSan-Palka-Granite is not acceptable... not much better when you count Schuck. Short Stop looks similarly desperate. Polanco-Escobar-Vielma-DSantana does not look like a depth chart acceptable in MLB. The other non-roster invites do not make it look any better. One thing REALLY obvious to me is DSan needs to be cut and someone signed at either SS or OF. I like Rosario. I would love him as a 4th OF. I know Im not saying anything revolutionary here but when you actually look at those rosters... Holy Wow!
  18. Interesting that they moved him immediately to second after signing him and then trying him at third at instructs. Is this a sign that they see him as a utility player as his top end?
  19. This is my 3rd or 4th straight year...I can't remember for sure. I know I had one before you started with the cool covers...I think my first was an all red cover.
  20. I was hoping a Dozier trade would happen first so the new prospects would be included. Book ordered. Can't wait for it to arrive. Yeah, I went paper copy. Im old school that way.
  21. Thanks for the reviews Nick! Very honest and fair assessments of this year. I'd lean A- Santana and C- Santiago or C+ if you look at his whole year and not 3 games towards the end taking bad advice from the new coaches.
  22. Nit picking the Ryan GM bright spot comment... Don't forget Nunez. As for others nit picking grades, the hard part is averaging out Offense vs defense and all of that vs the rest of MLB. Then there is grading based on where they are at in development. So, vs the rest of MLB defensively where do you rank Buxton? That raises his grade significantly. Vs the rest of this teams OPS and OBP, where is Grossman ranked? That raises his grade despite the awful defense. Not comparing him to Big Papi, but he was on teams Solely for Offense. We did the same for Nunez didn't we? Discussing these young players offensively, I never expect MLB rookies or sophomores to be fully MLB ready. They always have slumps and figuring it out time. Year three to me is when I start expecting consistency and when I start to think we know what we have. That said, Buxton is following his pattern he has shown at every level. He's adjusted slower to MLB but he has also been jerked around more. Kepler will need to make a sophomore adjustment as pitchers obviously adjusted to him already. I think he will be fine...by June or July. This is Rosarios make or break year for me but I have a lot of hope for him. Santana needs to go, I'm done. Grossman, I hope he can get hot and can be Nunezed for a low A lotto ticket to some desperate team that doesn't care about defense
  23. Generous on who? These sound mostly fair to me though I think I'd give Sano a C based on defense pulling down that offensive B-. I think we want to grade the offence worse than we should as a whole based on the record where as we had an OK offence with terrible pitching.
  24. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins Nats part of this definitely sounding like spin. Would cards or Giants have interest in Santana and could Santana be part of a " creative" trade? Just me wondering out loud but too lazy tonight to look at rosters...
  25. Very well stated! Who knew Dozier would hit 20+ home runs repeatedly? 42? Saying Ugh about having the same core hitters in 3 years is forgetting the growth potential of Rosario, Buxton, Sano, Kepler, and Polanco. Some may not grow into that potential. Rosario could be a Cuddyer type player. Buxton could become Delmon Young. (Yes I vommitted in my mouth saying that) Wade might not make the majors but I am inclined to bet on him. We really just don't know though and no amount of analytics can 100% forecast any of it.
