    I too love Madden as a choice too but are you convinced he’d come out of retirement??? For the Twins??? He’s got the magic touch.

    I have to say, Kurt has one really great thing going for him...he played for 2 years under Joe Madden at the LAA. Joe must have taught him something....anything. He's a born teacher. If Kurt tries to mold himself along the lines of Madden (instead of Mollie) he would be in very good company. Nothing against Mollie, but he was a far, far better player than manager. He also played under coach Bob Melvin, another catcher. So, just saying...yeah, no experience, but a good pedigree of teachers along the way.

    The 2025 collapse is even worse when you consider that the same collapse happened just last year. This means that the team refused to learn the lessons of 2024. The team refuses to adapt. The game plan (and the team) was virtually identical. Failing over and over and over, tells us that the Twins management/coaches are intransigent, insular, and unable to learn from mistakes. Insanity. They think they are the smartest guys in the room,--with some secret superhero powers to overcome systemic failures. The Pohlad's are their enablers, having bought into this secret bullcrap. Until they deal with this, we are destined to repeat the losing seasons...we are going to be the next White Sox or Rockies. You can blame Falvey for this insanity, but you have to remember that the Pohlad's are the enablers. I certainly believe that Falvey's choices are constrained by the Twins small market budget. That's just as true for Milwaukee and Kansas City. There are plenty of successful ways to handle a small market budget...but Falvey has one focused plan in his head and refuses to deviate. His trades and Free Agent choices have been mostly failures. Most of his big-time acquisitions/trades have been horrific failures (Lynn, Hughes, Happ, Shoemaker, Wade, Donaldson, Rogers, Rooker, Rortvedt, Mahle, Correa, etc). Cruz was the one great move. These moves are crucial to small market teams. His draft picks have been good but there are some really super bad ones mixed in there...like Sabato, Noah Miller, Cavaco, etc. Overall, the plan on Falvey's part has failed far more often that it has worked. And, add in the inability to turn high draft picks into high performing MLBers, it's a recipe for sustained failure. Until Falvey can change, we are in for more failure, regardless of who the head coach is.

    He would have a great career setting up beach chairs every morning at a Sandals Resort. Every day they.would be newly positioned in fun but confusing ways! Or he could be a customer service rep at the Best Buy help counter. He’d be perfect at dishing out total nonsensical, incredulous claims about the fantastic picture on the broken 65” Sony 128K TV that someone is trying to return. After listening to him, they are likely to just take the TV back home and stare at the blank screen. Rocco has a bright future! Just ask him!!!

    Tell me… what’s so bad about a manager chewing out a player for screwing up on the fundamentals…like runn in ng the bases? Or spending some time with the troops hitting fungo’s once in a while???? maybe if Rocco looked up from his spreadsheets for a few minutes and actually got out there with the players, and held them accountable, he might still have a job??? I realize this is a big organization with lots of moving parts. But management books abound with CEOs who would walk the production line and visit with the workers. Not every day, but that presence is huge. Rocco was just not present. How many times I saw a shot of the dugout and the players are never talking with him. Maybe Buxton or Correa but it just seemed like the culture was don’t talk to me unless I call your name. Just disrespectful! Please find a manager who is present, who respects and teaches every player from the rookie to the vet. And that respect includes calling out a player now and then, in whatever way helps them learn, grow, excel, and be the best MLB player they can possibly be and the best man that can be.

    Yeah. Like TRY NOT TO SUCK! I take a slightly more uplifting approach which is to live up to your god-given talents, but Joe is saying the same thing and holding them accountable at the same time. Wallner, you are far more talented than you play. Try not to suck! Royce, you were a 1-1 because you have so damn much talent. Try not to suck! Lee, come on, Try not to suck! Miranda, what happened? Try not to suck! etc…

    And also get input from TK about coaches that will teach fundamentals and hood players accountable. Rocco was horrible inept at both. BYW, I don’t buy the excuse that all of Rocco’s sub-coaches are supposed to do these jobs while Rocco sets the path, the tone, the culture. That’s pure BS. Rocco is still responsible for the job getting done. He’s still accountable for how his coaches failed him, the team, the fans and the owners. He’s not a scapegoat. He was in charge and failed miserably.

    I like Hunter too, But not sure he has enough experience coaching. Skip is a very interesting choice. He was manager of the year in 2023 but took 24 off for a family emergency. But then again, Rocco did well in his first year....so there is not a lot of history there. One change I would like to see is more of a "brain trust" surrounding the new coach. Rocco just seemed somewhat insular. He made all the decisions in his internal spreadsheet--seemingly without input from others on the bench. A couple of Head Coach advisers might have helped keep him from constantly pulling Wallner every time a LHP cam up or bouncing players from position to position.

    He is the head coach. All of these systemic failures land at his desk. He is the one fully responsible. Remember TK went through every team in the minors to get everyone, coaches, managers, players, all on the same page as the Twins. Did Rocco ever do that? We all keep saying it is a tremendous jump from AAA to the big leagues. Its true. Almost every player comes up and immediately slows down because of the jump in talent and skill levels in MLB. Its the coaches job to help that player with the transition. Period. Rocco may have handed off these responsibilities to other coaches working for him, but that doesn't absolve him of responsibility! He still has to make sure they are getting the job done. For player performance, the buck stops at Rocco's desk.

    There is plenty of blame to go around. Strong blame goes to Joe Pohlad (for being such a moronic public speaker) and Falvey (who just can't figure out how to continue to change with the changing MLB landscape). But, everything ON FIELD, regardless of what players he was given, was Rocco's responsibility. And, there was a significant decline in player performance, particularly over the last three years. This was simply overdue! Shudda happened a year ago!

    At some point he had to stand up and take an interview. That trade deadline trading frenzy needed an explanation. Sadly, he stood up and said ….well, nothing. Maybe he just said “just trust me.” Hoping that it was even remotely possible. I believe that once he started trading, and the other teams picked up on it, they all jumped on him proposing any sort of trade. It became a feeding frenzy. And Falvey just kept taking those calls. I can’t believe he didn’t trade Ryan almost as much as I can’t believe he did trade Varland! Because Varland is an excellent young pitcher just coming into his own in the Biggs. So if we want to believe all this youth movement BS, then why did he trade Varland? That trade was an abomination. so how can we trust him?

    I just figured out what is going on with the Twins! I now understand the peculiar decisions made by the Pohlads and Falvey. It was right in front of me all the time! Sorry I missed it, but now we can all relax and make sense of the direction that the Twins are going. I am looking forward to it! It is now obvious that the Minnesota Twins are aiming to become a BananaBall franchise! YAYYY!! This will be so much fun! I can't wait to see the team in yellow plaid skirts and love the idea of fans who catch a foul ball will record an out. This is gonna be great! Coming early next spring (or maybe they are already there??). www.bananaball.com Now, the Twins might have to change their name but you tell me....is the name "MinnesotaTwins" good enough for Bananaball or do we need a new name? Any ideas?

    Here are the Joe Ryan splits first half vs second half (the AS break-as close as I can get to the trade deadline). Ryan’s Win/loss went down by 250 pts. ERA almost doubles. Hits per inning pitched went up by 30% and HRs per IP doubled. BA, OBP SLG OPS all substantially increased. There is almost no pitching metric that didn’t decline after the deadline. it’s probably even worse than this simple analysis because he Ryan had some fantastic starts in July before the deadline but in the 2nd half (like Colorado on 7/20—11Ks!).

    I did—not sure I get the insight. He believes he came back too soon. Was it HE that rushed back to help the team or was it management that said “You’re up, Royce! Go get em!” Who was desperate here? That said, it is obvious as heck that Ryan wants out. He just totally checked out after the fiasco at the trading deadline. Remember, he was told he was traded then Oops, sorry, never mind. And Varland was traded. Makes no sense. Ryan is a very good SP and he certainly deserves better than the BS that the Twins management and ownership are spitting out. So do us fans!

    You hit the nail on the head!!! What player wants to play for the Twins now? Just the rookies. Look at Ryan’s performance after the trade deadline (with bizarre Ryan’s rumors). He caved. And I don’t think it was intentional but, so sorry to say, he’s been mailing it in. Like most of the team. Pohlad/Falvey blew up the team, Rocco lost all control of the players, and they just gave up. There are maybe 2-3 that are trying. This all starts with Pohlad/Falvey and ends with Rocco. I’m can’t blame the players one bit! Imagine how the felt watching this absolute destruction unravel in real time. I have to believe they felt humiliated, dejected, sick to their stomach. What I just cannot figure out is how this possibly makes the team more attractive, more valuable, to potential buyers. Any ideas??? It’s not the players. It’s the management.

    There is still time to catch PIT. But so what if we do. It won’t improve the Twins for several years. This whole team, top to bottom, is an absolute mess! I can’t imagine why anyone would want to buy into the team unless they can start replacing people from top to bottom. And that requires majority control—but apparently they only sold 40%. Seems like they just wanted to pay down the massive debt. Or, more likely, the banks forced them to pay down the debt. Maybe the Pohlad goal was to keep the baby Joe entertained away from the rest of Pohlad other businesses/money so he doesn’t screw them up too??? Maybe this is all a game to keep the man-child contained? I am pretty sure they can see he is an idiot too. Why else did they have to step in on the Correa deal …other than because Joe couldn’t get a deal done. A deal that both sides wanted to make!

    Nope. Rocco is the worst Twins manager ever. I’d take Sam Mele, Gene Mauch or even Billy Martin over Rocco! At least they got their players to stand up tall and play their hearts out! Rocco has completely lost the respect of the team. They have no choice—they have to fire him. The sooner the better!

    Wait? Which franchise player? Killebrew? Olivia? Carew? Puckett? Viola? Or are you trying to blame Correa? I wouldn’t have laid that title on him but yes he was a bust. Wasted $$. Like so many other trades and FA that the twins brought in, especially over the last 2-3 years! What di we have for dumping 30-40% of the team a few weeks ago? And they think they are fooling us when they say it wasn’t about money….

    Sorry I missed that Outman came in in the 8th. But there is still an issue. At that point, Rocco should have been able to see that he would again come up in the 9th and with no bullpen, the CWS were likely to at least tie the game. in the end, I am soooo over Rocco. He’s become a pathetic robot to stats. Like a robot, he is even emotionless.
