  1. He is a descendant of yours? Are you close to Chief's age?
  2. Some say she is on an island somewhere composing a symphony reflecting the highs and lows of being a baseball fan. I have also heard she is in jail.
  3. You are lucky the moderator Chitown is not around anymore - she could be intense and you would be facing serious consequences.
  4. I think baseball more than any other sport, even your favorite players are going to aggravate you from time to time. The chance of failure is about 70% regardless of their game-plan, and it is easy to second guess them once the at-bat is over.
  5. I think James J could be pretty controversial for a game thread. Best stick to the abusive cat with gluttony issues. http://facts.zone/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/U.S.-President-James-Garfield-could-write-Greek-with-one-hand-and-simultaneously-write-Latin-with-the-other..jpg
  6. Understood - no more Garfield Heights discussion.
  7. One of my college roommates was from Garfield Heights. He stayed in Minnesota after graduation and usually tried to find a job on campus during the summer. He never really seemed like he wanted to return.
  8. Teenage girls are usually pretty laid back about their hair -- you must have been pretty surprised at her reaction. My sisters were in high school during the home perm era. It did not always (ever?) end well.
  9. I am not a huge Barbara Bush fan, but how classy of Trump to finally acknowledging her health problems by just retweeting the RNC tweet - no words of his own. Although when you keep tweeting about your poll numbers, it is hard to spend time on other less important, less narcissistic issues. Speaking of the RNC, the fact that they set up a web-page calling "Lyin Comey and have adopted Trump's name-calling tactics will make it a bit harder for them to distance the party from Trump if his Presidency collapses. He really is the party and whether they pretend otherwise or not, they have adopted right down to his dog-whistles and his questionable endorsements.
  10. I was just going to post about Hannity. I know you should not wish ill on anyone, but I would not be overly upset if Hannity somehow went down in all of this. At a "journalist", should not he have revealed his connection when reporting stories involving him? It might raise questions of whether he is impartial and non-biased.
  11. Don't you think you are insulting Morons by calling him this?
  12. They are off.... (I am assuming that is a chocolate cigar in Mauer's mouth).
  13. Has anyone asked Chief if this is how the last few ice ages started?
  14. I think he if gets a few more solid years at 1B it will help him, not necessarily because the numbers will HOF worthy, but it will help show that his subpar seasons with the big drop-off were due to the concussions. It also adds to the story of someone who always was at the top of his game sticking with it and playing through some bad seasons and having a bit of a come-back.
  15. As someone who grew up in northern Minnesota in some bad winters in the seventies and eighties, this might be the longest winter ever. If we were going to have multiple games cancelled due to winter-like April, why couldn't it have been 2016? Then the snow would have been seen as a bit of a blessing.
  16. That would really help his OBP.
  17. I would hate to think he would get penalized due to the fact that he slipped under 50% because he was able to play at a major league level into his mid to late 30's. That should not take away from what he did while he was catcher.
  18. They are the ones more likely to call sports radio and log on to leave comments following a Trib article. I think the perceptions is further emphasized by one or two radio hosts seeming to not completely objective in their Mauer critiques which has helped feed into and encourage some of the more vocal critics.
  19. Military actions like this to help stop atrocities are complicated issues, but it seems like in the end we don't end up helping people and often make things worse. I also don't trust Trump's motives of why he is really doing this. I am sure my anti-Trump bias colored my viewing of his statement last night, but it seemed to me that instead of being burdened with the grave responsibility of this sort of action, he seemed excited and has been wanting to play war all along. Right now he is tweeting about how great we are and how no one will be anywhere as good as us. He is taking the moment to brag. Everything is about being the best and a winner to him. We have someone with the emotional maturity of a 5th grader making these decisions.
  20. I think you are just being respectful of the Twins Daily site where math is generally frowned upon, and counting is veers dangerously towards math (although the no-math rule might be more of a game threads policy).
  21. I think they are predicting tonight and tomorrow almost sure to be cancelled and a strong chance for Sunday as well.
  22. It is too bad they probably won't be able to build on this momentum and take a few more from the Sox since the weather gods show they do not care about the Twins and their home stand. Hopefully winter will be over by the All-Star break.
  23. It is nice that Joe's 2000th hit was one that mattered on a team that has some hope rather than a meaningless hit in a game we were sure to lose and in one of the dark seasons. Also nice that it was at a time that he finished the night leading the league in batting average and batting over 400. Not that the 400 is sustainable (although that would be nice).
  24. Nothing like pardoning someone who was convicted to lying to the FBI to send a message to potential witnesses not to worry about lying in their testimony... JUST IN: Pres. Trump poised to pardon Scooter J. Libby, former chief of staff to Dick Cheney, sources tell @ABC. https://abcn.ws/2IPMolJ
