  1. Even if that's true, it doesn't change my point that you don't remove him in the first place if you think he'll make the mlb club this season. Of course, unforeseen events could change that. But, it's highly unlikely, IMO.
  2. If Melo had any chance of making the big leagues this season they wouldn't have removed him from the 40 man roster a couple weeks ago.
  3. And he's played about a total of 1.5 seasons of the last 5 at 3B due to injury, or moving positions due to roster decisions. The eye test shows a guy who can handle the position once he gets some consistent reps. I realize you haven't wanted him there from the start, and were angry that Plouffe wasn't brought back to play 3B, it might be time to eat some crow on that one. I think he's available if he's an upgrade over Sano.
  4. No, he shouldn't be DH now. He's been adequate at 3B.
  5. I actually think that might not be enough for Quintana. He's not an ace, no, but a really good number 2, would be a staff ace on several teams. He's controlled beyond this year, and starting pitching is expensive in July.
  6. I have zero interest in trading Gordon. I'd be open to trading any of the other SS you listed.
  7. I could be thinking of someone else, but I think Rooker has already played with a wood bat.
  8. Where do the Twins rank among teams in attempts per opportunity? Is it possible that his lack of aggressiveness is a reflection of the team philosophy?
  9. That we me, and I've never suggested he's a bust. Far too early for that, also far too early too get excited about anything he's done in a league he doesn't belong in. He will be lucky to have ABW's career. (Opinion of course) What are the odds on a guy picked where he was? Maybe it's higher than I think, who knows. I'm just not a big believer, looking at his strike out tendencies, his strategy of just sitting fastball, and his priority of individual award ceremonies over actually going to work. That doesn't mean I'm writing him off as a bust though, these things are just opinion and not fact yet. If/ when I'm wrong I'll own it and be happy for him and the team. I don't feel like I need to be called out for my opinion though. If I had a positive opinion of him in this same small sample size nobody would think twice. But if it's a negative opinion then its, "whoa whoa, sample size dude!" And, of course if I waited for a large sample size to give my opinion out would be, "well yeah but that's hindsight bro, didn't hear you complaining when he was mashing in Elizabethtown."
  10. I think the Sale trade was an off-season deal though, correct? I think with the trade deadline premium they could get close to as much for Quintana.
  11. Polanco also has not been "consistently bad". He's had moments, but overall pretty good defensively.
  12. Well there are only 32 guys in all of baseball that are at .300 or above right now. Last season only 25 guys in all of baseball hit .300 or better. That is pretty select company, and "not too shabby" is pretty faint praise.
  13. You are actually paying them MORE than what the league values them at, not less, because you are drafting them higher than they would have otherwise gone. That isn't a snub at all.
  14. How many hitters in all of baseball hit over .300? I don't think a guy needs to be an elite hitter to be described as not too shabby.
  15. Too small of sample to look at OPS, especially when it's relying almost exclusively on HR. (And even if you did,.845 is not very good for SEC hitter of the year 22 YO against rookie ball.) His bb and k aren't just not great, they are awful. He'll be lucky to have ABW's career, IMO.
  16. I despise the HR derby and hope Sano pulls out. (He won't) It wrecks young players swings for quite some time after the derby.
  17. Well I'm not going to judge the FO on one pick. Though I do already think Rooker will absolutely be a bust. I realize I'll take heat for judging that pick so quickly, but I do, and if i turn out wrong I'll own it.
  18. Its not that complicated. No need to look at strength of schedule or padded record or any of that. We played them head to head and it left zero doubt they were the much better team.
  19. No, it's not disingenuous. They could have used that roster spot on a position player. They chose to use it on a relief pitcher. They are carrying 9 relievers.
  20. I would say at this point, it's not possible that Rooker takes over in 2019, or ever. Let's wait and see if he can actually figure out rookie ball pitching before we start peciling him in anywhere else.
  21. Correct. It is the player who made the last out the previous inning. Link: http://www.trentonian.com/sports/20170614/jay-dunn-mlb-is-testing-new-rule-in-minors-but-game-is-better-without-gimmicks
  22. IMO, the All-star game should be awarded based on results that actually happened. FIP and fWAR should have zero bearing on an all star argument. The K rate is a legit concern though.
