  1. What does distance running have to do with conditioning his shoulder strength and flexibility? If he was a basketball or hockey player, distance running might be an applicable training methods. But, for a baseball reliever? Probably not important.
  2. Ryan has continually fell on the sword for the Pohlads, money wise. With laughably false statements like ownership has never said no to spending money, why wouldn't they keep him around while they print money while defrauding the tax payers?
  3. And that is where we got unlucky. If we had the record we have this year, last year. Or if Dozier was having a season like he was at this time last year, either one of those could have netted us a nice haul. Instead we are stuck with a player with little to no trade value.
  4. I think the point is that some players and management think a lack of conditioning is to blame for the injuries. If that is the case, then you absolutely can blame the player.
  5. I think you misunderstood. I think the suggestion is that the Pohlad's don't care if he stays or goes. So the onus falls on Ryan to step aside, which he will only do if he can name his successor.
  6. I'm sorry but I think you are wrong. Saying someone's job is secure is one thing. Flat out saying, multiple times, that an employee is welcome to his job for as long as he wants it is something totally different entirely. I'm not sure I've quite seen it put that certainly in any other situation in sports.
  7. I don't understand how the players is even an option. These players didn't assemble, coach, and evaluate themselves. Blaming the players is like blaming the McDonalds drive through guy because you don't like the taste of their burgers.
  8. The answers given here worry me even more than before. You had a good run Terry, we all get old and our careers pass us all by one day. Time to move on, please.
  9. He didn't say he was laughing at Mauer's struggles. He said he was laughing at the fact that it took 3 years of excuses for some fans to accept the fact he's no longer a good hitter. Those are two entirety different things to laugh at. Why did you ask him to clarify if you were going to ignore his clarification?
  10. Ownership has flatly said on no uncertain terms that Ryan controls his own fate, and has the position for as long as he wants it, regardless of performance. So, none of that stuff is "conspiracy theory" type stuff.
  11. If we are still going to use the SSS argument in late May, then why didn't Ryan go after any relief pitchers in the off season? His argument was that he thought one or more of the hard throwing youngsters would be ready very quickly. Getting any of them up here fast enough to justify not adding bullpen arms (#1 off season priority), was going to require trusting a SSS.
  12. I think they usually send them to Ft Myers because, a) the warm weather, and keeps them close to the team facilities.
  13. I think you misunderstand me, please re read my original post. Im not criticizing anything. Of course Terry had no option of trading him. I was merely lamenting our bad luck in ripping off 20 fluke wins in May.
  14. Well I guess we just disagree on this issue. IMO, Dozier last year is nearly a perfect trade candidate. (If our record was poor!!) Span still had multiple years remaining when we traded him, so I don't think the contract matters much.
  15. Yes of course he will have his struggles, I agree. But; 1) Chief is talking over 2 years, not immediately. I think by the latter part of that 2 years he'd be the far superior player. 2) Polanco could struggle quite badly and still be close to as good as Dozier is right now.
  16. Again,I know that. That is the whole point of my post. That last May prevented Ryan from being able to at least listen to offers.
  17. I'm not asking them to constantly sell high, just once or twice would be nice.
  18. Man, I realize some of these prospects have failed to perform this far but ouch, you must really have no faith in Polanco as a prospect. Dozier is barely replacement level at this point, if Polanco can't at least meet that he'll be a bust.
  19. Yeah, that's why I said last May was the worst thing that could have happened to us. It prevented us from having the option to trade him.
  20. I'm not a huge fan of Ozzie, but I think he might be just what this club needs at this point in time.
  21. Another reason why last May was THE absolute worst thing that could possibly have happened to this organization. Last year at the deadline he might have netted a pretty big haul. Of course, Ryan might not have traded him, we'll never know, but he could have. Now he MIGHT get a couple low A lottery tickets.
  22. He's had 84 runners on base (over 71 PA)this season, and has exactly 3 XBH in those 71 PA.
  23. I have to imagine the coaches have said something to Dozier about not trying to pull everything. Since he continues to do so, I have to imagine the team will also leak to the media that Dozier doesn't take instruction. Or, do they only do that with the young Latin players?
