  1. Most polls had Clinton as a near lock. Trump won decidedly. 538's analysis was spot on only because they predicted the polls were wrong.
  2. Here I thought conservatives stood for state's rights.
  3. What happened against Nebraska? I was told this team was legit.
  4. The polls in the Presidential Election showed us that when one of the candidates is a gross human, the polls can't be trusted. People say one thing when they have to say it to another person. In the privacy of the voting booth, it's another story.
  5. And regardless, if his behavior wasn't accepted, he'd lose by 60 points. But, he won't, and that is my point.
  6. It depends on how you define "landslide". I predict he wins by a minimum of 7 points, with 9 or 10 a slight but not insignificant possibility. To me, that's a landslide. Especially considering all the circumstances.
  7. Moore won't be held accountable. He represents a party, region, and religion that not only thinks his behavior is okay, but thinks it is exactly the type of behavior that makes you a "real" man. I'm sure I'll get pushback not to generalize, but the proof is in the pudding. He'll win in a landslide. Also, regarding Franken, I'm glad we got clarification on how many sexual assaults is too many. Seven. Six or less, apologize and you're good, seven, you gotta go.
  8. Well I, for one, will be disappointed if they don't spend it. It will cement the "cheap image as true. There is talent to spend it on.
  9. On the road, against the reigning conference champions, yeah, pretty much any W is impressive. This team looks like it's for real.
  10. Huge conversion there. Don't let up, score 6 here.
  11. Playing scared again. 1st and 25: -1 yard swing pass. 2nd and 26: -2 yard swing pass. Giving up on a drive on 1st down, in a 5 point game. Not a fan. I get it's a tough spot, but at least try to get 7 or 8 yards, and get yourself a 3rd and 9 or 10.
  12. I'm referring to later in the drive. They didn't use the sideline once. You don't win by playing scared.
  13. Awful clock management there at the end of the half.
  14. We're measuring wins above replacement. Not the same thing. Every team has a AAAA 1B/DH like Vargas, that could be plugged in and hit .250 with 20 HR's. Most teams don't have a guy like that who can step in and play SS or C.
  15. Well you are alone on an island, and I commend you for that. But, I disagree vehemently. There doesn't seem to be any question about how good of a pitcher he is. This isn't like signing a 16 year old, or drafting an 18 year old. This isn't a matter of betting on tools or stuff. He's ready to step into any teams rotation as a #1 or #2 starter. Of course anything can happen, but in the same sense that anything can happen with any player - whether FA or homegrown. As Chief said, there isn't a single GM in baseball that would say no at his minimal price tag.
  16. I feel the exact opposite. Nothing in life is absolute. Everything is, and should be, relative. In another thread, there is discussion about how many ballots it will take Him Thome to make it into the HOF. If he were even a below average fielding SS or catcher, we'd be debating whether he'd be unanimous, and whether he might be the greatest baseball player of all time. And rightly so. It's not hypothetical that a replacement level SS or C is going to contribute less offense than a replacement level 1B or DH, its a fact, and common sense.
  17. But a replacement level SS or C is going to contribute less offense than a replacement level 1B or DH. So, it kinda has to value their offense differently. If it didn't it wouldn't be wins above replacement, it would just be wins contributed. Which is fine, someone can create that if they want, but we are discussing WAR.
  18. Yes, plenty of legit ways to show Terry Ryan was a mediocre at best GM, and I agree he was. I just think hof players drafted isn't a very good one.
  19. I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of those 50 to 60 players were drafted by GM's that were out of the game by the time said player was inducted. You draft a guy, 3 or 4 years in the minors, a 15 year career, 5 year waiting period, you're talking 23 years minimum from draft to first ballot. This is a meaningless way to evaluate a GM.
  20. I really hope the new FO isn't falling into the same trap as the old FO, by making ANY decision based on the tiny, and IMO meaningless SS of Spring Training.
  21. It's peanuts. We're not talking about $200 million mega deal, or even $60 million mid tier. I think you are vastly underestimating how good of a pitcher he is. We'll see who's right, I guess.
  22. One less out per start and he misses it last year. He's absolutely not hitting 200 IP if he shows "severe regression".
  23. It's not like it's a one year thing. Every year it's another excuse why the Wild are just so unlucky in the playoffs. You know it's not illegal for our goalie to stand on his head and match Allen, right?
