  1. Split DH is split into 2 separate gates. They clear everyone out after the first game, and a new ticket is required to get in for the second gate. A traditional DH is 2 for the price of one. They don't clear the stadium, and your original ticket gets you in to both games.
  2. I would have no problem giving Diggs that kind of money. He's a special talent, IMO, underrated. He hasn't put up gaudy numbers, but I think that changes this year, with Cousins under center. PFF had him as the best WR (at one point, not sure where he finished) in the NFL at catching contested passes.
  3. Those guys also won't succeed if they don't improve their walk rates. The main takeaway, for me, would be that it's far too small of sample sizes to take much away from any of these players performances so far, including Bard and Chargois, good or bad.
  4. Letting Chargois leave was always going to be a risk, if someone could find a way to coax a run of health out of him. I'm not in the room, obviously, but I don't think the Twins ever doubted his talent, the question was, is he capable of staying healthy? So, for him, I'll have to see him stay healthy for a stretch before i second guess that one. As for Bard, those results probably won't continue if he doesn't straighten out that walk rate. At the time the 40 man was locked, i didn't think Bard would be taken, so i can't, myself blame them for that call.
  5. Knowing that they can't keep everyone, I'd probably just let Barr walk when he hits free agency. Reading between the lines, the sense is that Barr is a guy who constantly has to be motivated, and he's not consistent, and he has his own durability issues, so I'm not sure I want to give a huge multiyear contract a player like that.
  6. I'd add Diggs to that. Glad to see Kendricks will be around for a while.
  7. He had a league average ERA his rookie year. If he can learn how to go longer in games, he can easily be a #3 (league average, by definition), without much improvement. Mejia has both a higher floor and a higher ceiling than Jorge, IMO, not sure why he's even in the conversation for guys ahead of Mejia.
  8. I mean, the thread is clearly titled, and is in the Sports Bar. If a person wants to be left out of the discussion, why would they intentionally walk into it? Perhaps they really don't want the discussion to exist, with or without them?
  9. From the Sano threads, you'd never know that any other stats besides strikeouts exist.
  10. Mejia had 1 BB and 5 K's in his only career start vs. the Yankees. 5.1 IP, 1 R.
  11. In today's issue of Republicans saying things so absurd, they must be made up, we have this. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, on the teacher's walk out Friday, "I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today, a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them,” Bevin told reporters. “I guarantee you somewhere today, a child was physically harmed or ingested poison because they were left alone because a single parent didn’t have any money to take care of them. I’m offended by the idea that people so cavalierly and so flippantly disregarded what’s truly best for children.” He also dismissed the importance of the protest, saying teachers were hanging out with their shoes off, smoking, and “leaving trash around.” “Children were harmed—some physically, some sexually, some were introduced to drugs for the first time—because they were vulnerable and left alone,” he added.
  12. The venom and hyper criticism towards Sano, in some of these threads, certainly does seem to outweigh his flaws on the diamond.
  13. That might have been their plan in game 1. Game 2 they were just utterly dominated by Winnipeg. They didn't look like they belonged on the same ice.
  14. Fair point, but a few points on Banks. He had 21 more career WAR than Joe currently has. His peak was much better than Joe's. He had a 10+ WAR season (!!!), a 9+ WAR season, and 2 more 8+ WAR seasons. Joe's best was a 7.8 WAR season, so Banks had 4 seasons better than Joe's 2009 season, which is pretty insane. If Joe had a peak like that during his catching days, he'd be a 100% first ballot lock. As it stands now, I think it's a lot closer than you think. It's so close, IMO, I wouldn't bet even a single dollar on either side of the bet.
  15. Doesn't power typically progress later than other abilities? Brian Dozier hit 9 HR's as a 24 year old, 42 as a 29 year old. Also, Sano has 37 HR's per 162 games for his career. That happens to be the exact same rate as Hank Aaron. Harmon Killebrew had 38 per 162, Willie Mays had 36 per 162, Ken Griffey jr. had 38 per 162. That 36 to 39 per 162 range is where most of the all time HR leaders check in at, in fact. If you want to say he'll never be healthy enough to do it, ok fine, but to say he doesn't have the ability is just flat wrong.
  16. I'm saying that when they look at his numbers, they will take into account all of the following: the numbers he put up as a catcher, the numbers he put up post catching, and the numbers he was able to add while playing DH during his catching days, something that relevant historical catchers didn't have the opportunity to do. If DH'ing during his catching career didn't help limit wear and tear over the course of a season, the Twins wouldn't have put him at DH. The voters will look at all available information, I don't see why they'd choose to ignore any of it.
  17. It's not about wear and tear (that's an obviously legitimate, but separate discussion.), it's about positional value. In which case it wouldn't make sense to compare his 1B/DH numbers during those years to historical catchers, as the team still had to employ a catcher on those days.
  18. I think most people in that thread were willing to go well beyond $15 million per year for Dozier, they just don't want to go beyond 3 years.
  19. There is a minimum salary in baseball, so that would not be a legal contract.
  20. Barring injury, Joe at some point in August or September (457 more plate appearances), will no longer have been a catcher for the majority of his career.
  21. That's because we told Russia our targets, who in turn warned Syria. Supposedly they evacuated all the targets in time.
  22. The Wild are now 3-14 in their last 17 postseason games.
  23. Isn't there a way to ban an IP address, so they can't keep making new accounts?
  24. I'm aware that the unwritten rule exists. I was curious if you had specific reasons for agreeing with it.
