  1. To update, he has indeed been arraigned on attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charges. And his recording doorbell captured the incident, so they should have a pretty strong case.
  2. Close is a relative term. If he's still a starter, sure 2600 is fairly close- though that would still require 3 more seasons, which would put him at 40. If he's a part time player, which isn't far fetched, considering the offensive standards of first base, combined with his age by then, then it's not really close. He'd need another 6 or 7 years to get those last 400 hits. It's really a long shot at this point.
  3. I wasn't asking you to defend anything. I was asking you to expand on your position. Surely you have reasons why you don't think players should bunt if a pitcher has a no hitter. I'm curious what those reasons are.
  4. I'd assume that if they planned on doing it anyway, they probably save a couple thousand dollars by doing it now. Not sure if this happens often in baseball, with no salary cap, but you see it often in the NHL, as the cap is calculated daily.
  5. I'm thrilled with the Whalen hire. I've always been a huge fan of hers, and I think she'll do really well at this job.
  6. Why should a team accommodate the opposing teams attempt to get a no hitter? If it's a close, and a player thinks his best chance to get on base is with a bunt, he should do it. I can see it being cheap if it's 9-0 or something.
  7. But affiliated minor leagues ARE for development. If the local fans don't realize that, then that's on them.
  8. Morrison was signed for what he can contribute in 2018, not 2017, as that is the past. Clearly the market doesn't think he can come close to repeating his 2017 numbers, which is understandable in his case.
  9. It doesn't meet mlb standards. Specifically, down the right field line is too short.
  10. Well that is an opinion, not fact. I don't believe that to always be the case, in fact I think it would be a sad and pathetic world where nobody celebrated their accomplishments. I certainly don't mind at all when someone celebrates a victory over me, unless they are trying to rub it in.
  11. Because the average player at any milb level is not a legit prospect, and will never sniff the major leagues. Therefore, legit prospects should hopefully move along faster than an average player at each level. It's certainly not a deal breaker , but it's a legitimate point of data to consider.
  12. Disturbing story out of a Detroit suburb. 14 year old black boy misses his school bus, knocks on a neighborhood door to ask for directions. Homeowner assumes that the only reason a black kid would be at his door, is to rob him, so he shoots at him with a shotgun. Thankfully, he missed, and the boy is okay.
  13. But he's not an all or nothing hitter with no positional value, which is why his OPS and WAR are so much higher than someone like Chris Carter, who is those things.
  14. Miguel Sano, has a career OPS 100 points higher than Carter. He also has already compiled more than twice as many bWAR (5.8 to 2.5) as Carter, in 431 less games. So, even if Sano never improves at all, he's a much, much better and more valuable player than Chris Carter.
  15. I'm happy they got in, of course. But had they decided to actually show up at home versus Memphis a couple weeks ago, they might be playing Portland instead of Houston. I hope that they use it as a learning experience, that you can't take nights off in the regular season.
  16. Wouldn't he have to be in the top 180 to be a one percenter?
  17. Molitor is no longer the guy they got stuck with though. They chose to continue with him, even with a track record of refusing to use LOOGY's properly.
  18. IMO he'd have to get one down more often than that (1 in 3 is only a .666 OPS, if my math is correct), but otherwise agree totally.
  19. Yes we did. We have their entire career body of work, which is a pretty large sample size.
  20. I don't think we have a large enough sampleb size to know anything about this bullpen yet.
  21. Well I, for one, don't think he'll be the same after the surgery. I have no medical data to back that up, but i just feel like that finger is too important to the delivery of his slider, and I don't think he'll be able to throw it effectively anymore.
  22. All fair points, but it's not like this is out of character for Rosario. Personally, I can live with the mental mistakes ams and the below average defense and baserunning if he rakes like he did last year. But I'm not going to pretend those issues don't exist.
  23. They knew about at the end of the year and went with the rest and rehab approach.
  24. Well, I'm 99.99% sure that SpoTrac is wrong. MLBTraderumors, Cot's Contracts, and Twinkie Town all report that it's AND 200 IP in 2018. The writers on this site have also previously confirmed that it's AND 200 IP in 2018. With a Google search of Ervin Santana contract, SpoTrac is the only place reporting it as OR 200 IP in 2018, so I don't know where they are sourcing that from.
