  1. Spotrac has it worded incorrectly, I believe. The cost of the option goes up at those benchmarks, but doesn't become guaranteed until 600 PA's.
  2. Every player being rusty includes the pitchers. And of course it's a guess. I'm giving my opinion. From Santana to Mauer to Sano to Buxton, this FO has a laughable track record with their return timetables. I don't believe for a second that this won't delay his return. And again, yes that is just my opinion.
  3. Coming out of ST, everyone is equally rusty. Now he's being thrown in against everyone else who are in midseason form. I guess the max is actually 15 games, so IMO that is how many games he'll play.
  4. Not in a winnable game when they still think they are a playoff competitor. In that case you play to win, not for development.
  5. There is nothing magical about it. But 20 is the maximum that the rules allow, and he'll need as many as they can give him.
  6. And I'm saying that I don't believe them. Between Santana, Sano, and Mauer, they have a track record of publicly giving unrealistically optimistic return dates. Polanco is going to need the full 20 days to be ready to play in MLB games, IMO.
  7. It was enough to delay the start of his rehab assignment, which is going to delay his return to the MLB team.
  8. Yeah, that's my whole point. He will need those 20 games, which will now push him past July 2nd, because of the hand injury.
  9. Ok fair enough, but I don't consider extended ST games even remotely close to actual games that will get him up to speed. The team probably also thinks he needs real games in Rochester before he comes up.
  10. He wasn't eligible to play any games until 20 days before his reinstatement.
  11. Just like Santana would be back May 1st, Mauer needed a day or two off with a stiff neck, Sano was day to day with a little hamstring tightness, etc. July 2nd is 16 days away, of course this pushes back his return, and I don't get why the team continues to insist on unrealistic, best case timelines for every injury update.
  12. Duke has a career .699 OPS against vs. lefties, .808 vs. righties.
  13. Those numbers by themselves don't tell me much.Where do those rank among qualified starters? Berrios averaging over 6 per start actually seems to me would rank pretty high in the league. That is a 200 IP pace, and almost nobody pitches 200 innings anymore.
  14. I don't disagree with your philosophy. I'm just observing that I don't see anyone asking for a roster of 25 free agents. Also, building like Houston probably isn't a realistic model for us. They went the smart route and tanked for future assets. We'll never have the pure number of high end prospects that they did, though we have built solid depth of potential role players.
  15. It seems to me that Rooker is struggling mightily again, from the last few milb reports. EDIT: Just tallied them up. 3-25, 7K, 1 BB since his 4 walk game last week.
  16. To be fair, nobody is arguing for building entirely from FA and trades either.
  17. That's a nice little loophole that Christians gave themselves to justify anything they do. Very clever.
  18. You still aren't applying that to all 30 teams. You are just using a gut feeling of where they'd rank.
  19. Yes. Baseball America has Graterol ranked 92.
  20. I'd bet the breakouts of Kiriloff and Graterol, as well as Romero still technically being a prospect have more to do with our jump than our draft picks do.
  21. Well it's currently 21st in baseball, by ERA. Certainly a lot of room for improvement there, IMO.
  22. The rule is a 20% increase now? I could have swore it was 30%. If it drops anymore, guys will be getting their senior discount before they get back to full strength from TJ. His body will tell you when he's had enough, not some arbitrary number.
  23. Yeah every team has bad relievers that they've demoted or released. I'd imagine the removal of the dead weight mostly evens out across the league, and if re ranked for current personnel, the rankings would be roughly the same order.
  24. Fangraphs probably likes his chances of sticking at catcher much better than mlb.com. That would explain the delta, IMO.
  25. Where did you see Falvine quoted as saying what I responded to? My comment wasn't in reference to us signing him. It was in response to the theory that you have to be better to stick in an awful bullpen than you do to stick in a good bullpen.
