  1. Kind of wish we had missed Fedde here, as the odds that he will be in another uniform by the trade deadline are high.
  2. And, separate and apart from the RH/LH stuff (which I agree with), sometimes a player needs to go down to get reset/restore their confidence/work on their swing. Sending someone down can actually yield a better result later. Fingers crossed that the same thing happens to Julien. If it does, then we'll REALLY have a roster crunch, which would be awesome.
  3. Wallner went down, got a reset, and has been a much better hitter since that time. Presumably part of the reset was playing every day. If he isn't sent down, or if he is called back up on May 31 and then relegated to playing part time, he may or may not have been able to reset and be hitting the way he has hit since that time. In other words: we wouldn't have necessarily gotten this Wallner if we had not sent him down/called him up on 5/31. Personally, I'm happy we have him now. And since June 1 the team has been 21-14 (.600 winning percentage) with basically the top offense in the AL.
  4. if you're the fastest guy on the team maybe bunt here?
  5. Love to see the pitcher turn in a quick inning after the batters take the lead. Keep the pressure on.
  6. and timely DPs go both ways I suppose. Sigh.
  7. Very impressed with the quick factoid there, USAFChief. Wonder how that compares to other teams? Thank you goes out to the Tigers.
  8. Given the Larnach HR, I suggest that Twins Daily continue to write articles about batters until someone doesn't hit a home run.
  9. Re: KC/Twins. Perhaps I expressed myself poorly. I am not arguing that they have a different method of building a team. Just that KC is far more top heavy. Here's the KC top five WAR list ATM (from Fangraphs): 1 Bobby Witt Jr. KCR 403 5.6 5.6 2 Cole Ragans KCR 109.2 0.0 3.1 3.1 3 Seth Lugo KCR 122.0 0.0 2.7 2.7 4 Salvador Perez KCR 359 1.8 1.8 5 Michael Wacha KCR 84.1 0.0 1.6 1.6 Whereas here is the Twins list: 1 Carlos Correa MIN 299 3.2 3.2 2 Willi Castro MIN 361 1.1 2.9 0.0 2.9 3 Joe Ryan MIN 109.1 0.0 2.5 2.5 4 Jose Miranda MIN 263 2.2 2.2 5 Byron Buxton MIN 254 2.1 2.1 The top three in KC combine for 11.5 WAR, while the top 3 Twins are 8.6. But the Twins have a lot more WAR below the top three.
  10. I certainly won't defend the selection of Holmes over Jax. You're absolutely correct that Jax has a better case. I would merely observe that the selections are a product of the focus on saves, not an example of anti-Twins bias. God, I just (sort of) defended a Yankee. Now I need a bath.
  11. Different teams are built in different ways. The Royals are built around a few stars who have played really well. The Twins are built around a lot of players who are playing well. Given that fact it is not surprising (and not unfair) that the Royals have more all-stars than the Twins. Personally, I prefer the Twins approach. I think it is more sustainable and more Minnesotan. But that's largely a matter of personal preference.
  12. Mrtwinsfan: you need to buy a lottery ticket, like immediately
  13. There are few things that irritate me more than a pitcher who gets offensive support and then immediately hands the runs back to the other team. In that regard SWR is to be commended for holding the line the last three innings and giving the offense the opportunity to chip away and tie it up. Very impressed by this performance.
  14. Astros entering their White Sox fielding era. Couldn't happen to a better team.
  15. I want to echo the sentiment: I really don't like the Astros, either.
  16. And Vazquez nudges the batting average above the Mendoza line . . .
  17. Really impressed with a ten pitch walk after starting the at bat down 0-2. If I were an Astros fan that would a gut punch.
  18. Alvarez still scares me. I think he'll scare me until the day he retires. And maybe after that.
  19. Thank you for the extra just for fun entry before I go out to stand in the rain to see a fourth of July parade.
  20. Buxton is the same as Taylor? Taylor's 2024 WAR is .1 Buxton's 2024 WAR is 1.6 (Fangraphs WAR, that is) WAR accounts for playing time, defense, strikeouts, etc. It's not perfect, but it's the best comprehensive measure of contributions I know of. Taylor's basically a replacement level player. That's worthwhile. But Buxton's been much, much better this year.
