  1. That guy killed us. I know it was a long time ago, but…
  2. I’m in New York and not ready to say that, but it’s not just Trevor May: there’s an inordinately large number of Twins who have been Mets (and vice versa) over the years. It makes for a great trivia question.
  3. Yikes, really? I got a phone call and have been spared much of this. Now I’m off the phone and have to decide whether to continue listening. But I don’t think I can listen to Sterling and Waldman at this point (but I agree that they are not homers as much as claimed).
  4. “Sorry about that, Chief.” We should have paid attention, there.
  5. People forget how bad the Twins were against the Yankees in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. Those were the games I saw the most, and I really suffered. Things evened out a bit in the Tom Kelly years (Kelly as a manager, not as a player ?)
  6. Yankee broadcaster John Sterling says “the Yankees have the slimmest of leads.” Creating drama when there is none…
  7. Just heard Yankee broadcaster Suzyn Waldman briefly interview Cory Provus. I was impressed with him. I should find ways to listen to the Twins radio broadcasts here in NYC.
  8. Just tuned in. I expected to be losing, but this is way beyond that. I’ll just read your comments, but I can’t watch, I admit it.
  9. Yeah, I heard that, too. I was pretty shocked they actually had that as a statistic!
  10. Yeah, I’m old and really like unwritten rules in sports—what would hockey be without traditions? But I also think it’s fine to swing on 3 and 0 in any case. And surely one wants to move the game along in this kind of blowout. But ignoring your coach’s sign or manager’s verbal instruction? There really is nothing “unwritten” about that; it’s considered wrong in any line of work or play.
  11. Kind of you folks not to mention how Trevor May blew a save for the Mets in his debut yesterday...
  12. I, too grew up listening to Herb Carneal in the 1970s, in New Jersey, no less. I could often get WCCO on clear nights but only after the local public station signed off at 11:00 Eastern time (just in time for the relievers to blow the game, I used to lament). I had to go to my older brothers' attic bedroom to get reception, and they were very accommodating to my sitting in a corner of their room in the late hours. The activity was known to us as "listening to Herb."
  13. Just started getting Twins broadcasts in the last year. I’m not yet sure about Bremer, but I agree about the pleasure of listening to former Twins players.
  14. Pretty ugly right now. My first view of the Twins this year. But, hey, only ST, and just a sad, sad day overall to put things in perspective.
  15. Charley Pride’s death prompted me to watch the Letterman segment for the first time. I really came to appreciate Letterman for doing it in his way. Still I felt some sadness, knowing that suffering was ahead for Allison and that Harmon’s life was actually going to pieces at that time. Sorry to be a downer...
  16. Things seemed either easy or really hard. I did pretty badly. Loved the questions about the 1991 World Series. Ideal trivia!!
