  1. When will Nick Gordon be major-league ready? By now the answer is, “Never.”
  2. I think the only thing you know is some troll named Diddly Squat.
  3. Sure, see what's he got. But someone better get some body armor for Mudonna.
  4. How many games did Donaldson and Buxton play last season? How many games were Polanco and Arraez affected by injury (almost all of them)? How much use were Gonzalez and Adrianza in plugging those gaps? The answers to those questions may explain a lot of those stats for a team that set a ML record for homeruns in 2019. You can't guarantee the health of everyone, of course, but there's more depth here now to cover for that.
  5. Baldelli has plenty to work with in mixing and matching late inning leverage situations. And a pitcher that induces "weak contact" will love having an upgraded defense behind him. The off-season wasn't flashy, but the Twins methodically checked off their shopping list, and may still add some filler. I suppose if you're on a trip, driving 90 mph is more exciting, but it's also satisfying to drive 60 mph and arrive safely.
  6. With that BABIP, was Rogers unlucky - or were the Twins positioning analytics really bad?
  7. As a Cardinals fan growing up, Arraez makes me think of Jose Oquendo who plugged in just about everywhere, and was a real headache at the plate for the other team. Arraez might not be quite as versatile (trusting to memory, here), but is a better hitter. I want him and Cruz on the team.
  8. What does Lewis have to do? How about have 600 more at-bats in St. Paul? Even greatly gifted players need experience, and Lewis has had a couple of minor league seasons and valuable at-bats wiped out by injuries and COVID. Just being older doesn’t help. And playing him part time behind Polanco isn’t going to help that. Let him get his experience and confidence - or be prepared for three more years of complaining about how he’ll never hit - you know, the way people did about Buxton.
  9. And the FO response is, "What was your name again?"
  10. I'm not interested in an impatient power hitter to replace Cruz. One of Cruz's trademarks is his unflappability at the plate, especially in crucial situations. Nunez might get his HRs, but I wonder how many will be in high-leverage at-bats. The Twins already have a free swinging right-hand power bat in Sano; I'm not keen on having two in the lineup.
  11. The issue with Javier is the same as it was last year: what team will draft an interesting but totally unproven player and keep him on the MLB roster? 2020 was "another lost season" for him, and he's barely seen any minor league pitching yet.
  12. The Twins have three inside options right now, vying for one rotation spot instead of two. They have more top prospects a year or two away - and that's not wishful thinking - but still need time to work their way up against tougher competition. They also have a team that won 101 games last year that should contend at the highest levels this season. Would you really be happier with a contending team looking to rookies to carry nearly half the rotation?
  13. Couldn't the Twins still make a deal with LA for Maeda? Not necessarily for Graterol, and I don't know that I'd be dipping too much into my top-10 prospect list, but there are likely some arms a couple years away that might interest the Dodgers, and they've already indicated that Maeda is expendable as far as this year is concerned.
  14. If it's the bottom of the 9th and the tying run is on 3rd and winning run is on 2nd with 2 outs and a chance to go to the WS on the line I don't want the season coming down to Raley, Rooker, Wade, or Cave IN THE OUTFIELD!
  15. I have to laugh at any sentence that includes Clevinger and “attractive”.
  16. We'll play about a dozen exhibition games with them, just to keep everyone sharp for the playoffs!
  17. At least you won't have to worry about Houston sniping someone you like early in the draft.
  18. I'm not worried about his hitting, and wouldn't be surprised if he adds power as he gets older and learns the pitchers even better. I would like to see a more clear-cut position for him if Polanco gets moved to 2B. I think he's barely adequate at 3B, and I don't think he's much of an outfielder and his arm doesn't look as if it would be respected by base-runners. I wonder if Arraez might gain some speed through a work-out regime that drops 10 pounds.
  19. As with Ryne Harper, when it was a new look for batters it caused them problems. Once the league had enough film and scouting reports on them, it was "good night."
  20. The robots won't eject you; they'll just go online and screw up your credit report.
  21. Are there links to the mash-ups? I'm not seeing any.
  22. Earlier in the season there was talk about how long we'd have to carry Adrianza once Sano came back. Most seemed to think he didn't add much value, especially with La Tortuga available. Forget about who goes if another reliever is added - who goes if/when Astudillo is ready?
