  1. Based on some of the things she was called in HS, I wouldn't want my daughter to have that last name.
  2. Went to school with a girl named Jessica Sexe (pronounced Sexy). And yes, she was kind of hot.
  3. If Morneau tops 20 HR and 80 RBI by year's end does that impact our interest in re-signing him? Never mind, I just realized as I was typing it that I am beyond sick of talking about this.
  4. I missed that, but if true should earn him a day on the bench as well.
  5. Floriman tweaked something in BP, that's why Bernie is starting.
  6. Does seem a little odd. If you're going to bat Doumit so high then put him in the 3 hole and split up M and M. But I agree, I would have Arcia batting in the first half of the lineup and move Plouffe or Morneau down.
  7. REALLY hoping he gets a taste of high A this year so we feel comfortable starting him at AA next year. Very few guys are allowed to go right from low A to AA.
  8. I get the impression they were waiting for the deadline to pass to see who they could move. That way they could avoid any unnecessary or wasted moves. I have no problem with this mindset, and they certainly went quickly after the deadline passed.
  9. Apparently I was the only one who picked up on it, it was not subtle.
  10. I thought for sure Doumit would go at the deadline to make room for Hermann, but I suppose he can still move through waivers after a while. Excited to see Chris get more playing time.
  11. Based on past TD posts I'd say there will be no shortage of potential targets: Parm, Plouffe, Hammer, Dozier, Morny, Flori, Hicksie, and of course Mauer and his giant contract. At one time or another someone on here is lighting them up for something. Oh yeah, and our entire SP staff.
  12. Guthrie 47 pitches in 2 innings. I like.
  13. Not sure all time, but Silva had a year where he was one of the best ground ballers in all of baseball. Not one of the best pitchers overall, but his sinker induced GBs all night and all day.
  14. Valid point, but I think we'd all agree that it is much harder to replace an all-star caliber player than a guy like Carroll or Doumit. Not saying we can't, especially with our track record with the pen and the relative easy path to establishing a new closer, but I wonder about the mindset where we so casually assume we won't miss a beat after we unload Perk. That is by no means a foregone conclusion.
  15. Obviously Sano is the endgame we all want, but Plouffe can be a nice piece of our strong teams to come. No reason to dump him to make room for The Beast, just move him to 1st/DH/RF combo with Parm, Colaballo, and Herm.
  16. He had an All-star caliber stretch right up until 2 starts before he was traded last year, right?
  17. Agreed. Winning begets more winning, losing begets more losing. Play every game to win, draft status be damned. Play the next wave of talent if you want to maneuver for draft status, but still cherish every win you get in a losing season. I remember a couple years back when the TWolves had Mark Madsen take all those 3s in the last game of the year in order to purposely tank the game. I have never been so ashamed of or embarrassed by a Minnesota sports franchise. If I had been a paying customer at that game I would have thrown my beer onto the court and walked out.
  18. That's why long term Hicks and then Buxton will be leading off, while Dozier will bat in the 7 hole if he sticks with the team. He could be very valuable providing a little punch at the bottom of the order.
  19. If the Twins didn't give this same option to everyone down to the lowliest scrub in their lineup then I would simply stop being a fan of this team. When my daughter was born a month premature the entire world stopped and absolutely nothing else mattered except her and my wife. And that is the way it should be.
  20. I have to agree on this one. They will finish the season at AA. However, it would not surprise me at all if they both made the team out of ST next year. The Twins have proven they are willing to go that route several times in the recent past.
  21. I'd feel exactly the same way, the man deserves his time to be with his wife and new children, playoffs be damned.
  22. Spoken like someone who is either dead inside or has no kids or both.
  23. No offense intended, but I laughed out loud when I read this. 2B will feel crowded if and when Rosario, Polanco and Dozier all play well enough to demand playing time with the Twins. And if that happens, we will have an easy time trading one of them for nice prospects since good MIs are hard to come by.
  24. Interesting like something a hot girl just said to you on a first date? Or interesting like something weird growing on your ankle?
  25. Please, no more Swarzak or Duensing experiments. They have become fair MLB players out of the pen, don't mess with that progress.
