  1. No offense to Carroll, but I'd play my outfielders hella shallow too.
  2. Not loving Carroll in the leadoff spot. I'd rather have... Ok, let Carroll bat leadoff.
  3. I will just add a simple "Thank You."
  4. Come on man, do you really think Rochester is mad at us for dumping Slama? Former fan favorite or not, he has been awful this year. Rochester wants wins, just like we do. No one needs mollifying over this. And for the record, I do not get or approve of the Eppley signing, and we should care about our affiliates concerns.
  5. This, however, I couldn't agree more with. Bring up someone deserving, someone with a ton of talent, or just someone. Don't go sign Slama2.0.
  6. No, our bullpen has been the strength of those two teams. We didn't need a reliever who couldn't keep his MLB ERA under 5. Slama was the exact definition of AAAA. He would not have had success in the majors. The Twins got this one right.
  7. I really enjoy the storyline with a disgruntled Perk struggling as a starter, rededicating himself to being a shut-down reliever, and finishing his career with the Twins. Unless he would fetch someone's best pitching prospect or better, I say no. Give him a nice multi-year deal and let him be your closer for the next 6-8 years. In the world of closers, he's not Rivera (A+), but he's definitely a B+/A-. More than enough to contend for a championship with.
  8. I thought, boy, that's a rough bottom 3rd of our lineup tonight. Then I saw the Phillies were batting Delmon 6th and I thought, hey, could be worse.
  9. Let's remember though, we play in a very flawed division. If the 2013 Twins go on a tear they could easily win the Central this year. Of course they would most likely get crushed in the playoffs with our starting rotation, but it's fun to realize that it's very possible. I'd say no worse than 20% chance we win the division this year.
  10. As has been pointed out by many others, not all of these prospects will pan out. Some won't be as good as we hope, and others will not even be viable major league caliber players. That being said, is anyone else worried that we'll get a uneven mix of success between hitters and pitchers? It would be crazy to have Buxton, Sano, Arcia, Hicks, Pinto, et al pan out, while our pitching prospects have much less success. It just looks to me like it could actually go this way, with our hitters seeming like much surer bets. That leaves free agency or trades as the only options for fielding a quality rotation, something even a Ryan backer like myself would say is not Terry's strong suit.
  11. Well, you'd be just as annoyed if Mauer had bunted him over though, right?
  12. Nah, I just don't share Chief's disdain for small ball.
  13. I look for him to make whatever play his coach asks him to make based on the field situation. Although it's unlikely Gardy put the sign on there anyway.
  14. None of which really counters any of my points. Of course it is possible to promote Sano to the majors right now. Is that best for the Twins, Rock Cats, Red Wings, and Sano himself? I do not believe so. For every Harper and Trout how many failed rush experiments are there? 5? 10? Doesn't this just boil down to impatience? Take a deep breath and wait for next All-Star break/September and we'll probably see them both at Target field. Faster is not always better, and this is coming from someone who firmly believes these kids need to be challenged and challenged hard.
  15. I'd like to add a few points. First, every championship one of our affiliates brings home adds to the prestige of the organization. Don't belittle minor league ball just because you prefer to only care about the major league team. Second, playoff experience is valuable at whatever level you can get it. I would take 2 weeks of playoff A ball over 2 weeks of regular season A+ ball for a player's development any day. Lastly, the exact times that we move Buxton up are probably irrelevant to his actual major league debut time. Whether he was moved up to A+ a month ago, or in another month, he will probably be in a Twins uni either next September or the following spring. A month here or there now will not likely change the ultimate timeline.
  16. He could certainly hold his own talent wise I'd think, but rookie ball is where you learn how to be a professional. Pretty sure even Mauer didn't skip rookie ball, and he was hitting like .900 his last year of HS.
  17. Not so far-fetched. Of course you need to believe that Escobar is the new Carroll, otherwise you might as well drop Escobar and keep Jaime while you look for his replacement. I think we could get a C+ prospect for Carroll?
  18. My favorite part of this story is how EVERY Twin fan was bashing Gardy for leaving Nathan in...and I mean EVERY Twins fan across the nation. Then Joe Torre gets the question in his postgame and he says, "I would have done the same thing, that's the right move." And all we hear is crickets across Twins country. Whenever the negative posters on this board get to me I think back to that moment and feel better.
  19. I went back and read this and it came off pretty jack-assy. I am just very burnt out on all the blind Gardy haters that frequent this message board. Truth be told I have noticed the phenomenon you mentioned of the starters getting very weak after 5-6 innings, and it frustrates me to no end. But honestly, if I went to work and did a great job for 5-6 hours and then slacked off and then was worthless for 3 more hours, would expect my boss to let me go home early every day just to save productivity? Or would you expect him to hold me accountable for the rest of my shift? In conclusion, if you were offended by my original post, please accept my apology.
  20. Sure, you can do this...for about 2 weeks. Then your bullpen ERA skyrockets because they are all super overworked. Why can't anyone understand that Gardy leaves in his starters that extra inning because that is what the team (or any team for that matter) needs the starters to do. I have actually noticed Gardy has been pulling guys a little earlier than a month ago, something he can't get away with for long. Don't blame Gardy, blame the starters who tire too quickly and can't pitch well all the way up to 100+ pitches. I repeat, don't blame Gardy, blame the starters. One more time? Don't blame Gardy, blame the starters. Sinking in yet?
  21. Alright, a HS pitcher. Bring it on (sweating bullets for the next 3 years...).
  22. Gray. Gray. Gray. Gray. Gray...
  23. Arbitration clock won't be a problem, and why not put some fans in the seats. Plus, you get to see a very good pitcher with huge upside in your rotation...man I want to see Gibson with the Twins...
  24. He certainly could. Should might be another story.
  25. Everyone with As! Twins get Grey, Appell, AND Stewert!
