  1. I suppose Arcia needs a day off once in a while, but....BOO! He's got to learn to hit lefty pitching sometime. Oh well, this smells like a series win for the good guys... ...That's the Twins, for all you negative posters on this board
  2. I wish I could like this 5 times and "dislike" the thread 5 times.
  3. Only shell out big money if it is going to be for the piece(s) that complete(s) your team. There will be pitchers of similar calibur available almost every year, so it makes sense to wait until we are acutally in that position.
  4. Wish we'd get to the point where we know exactly what Floriman is. Then Carroll and Dozier can start every game and Flori can be in someone else's AAA affiliate.
  5. I'll give you maybe Gibson should be up already, but why would you want a spendy free agent this year? Complain in 2 years if they don't go out and spend for that 5th guy to make us a contender, not this year when we either should be looking at our young guys or getting by on the cheap.
  6. Everyday Jaime set to lead us off to victory yet again.
  7. I liked this because my brother lives in Fertile, pop. 87 or so. Also, the headline was actually printed Brian.
  8. I liked this because my brother lives in Fertile, pop. 84 or so. And the headline was true, Brian.
  9. I laughed out loud when I read this. And I've only had 3 beers.
  10. My first heavy crush was on Ariel in that movie. True story.
  11. You say that like it's a bad thing. Also, I'm not sure they need it?
  12. And FINALLY the Mary Ann vs. Ginger debate is laid to rest. Well done, Sir.
  13. Come on man, guys need to play to stay sharp. Wilkin has played less than most. Don't begrudge him a start to give our regular CF a break (or a lesson).
  14. Doesn't Diamond throw 91-93? He's sitting at 88 right now.
  15. One of my buddies is a Dodges fan, and I think he was bad for a few years there, although I could be mistaken.
  16. Otherwise the player gets dull. If I didn't do my job for 10 days, I'd be rusty. I'd imagine professional ball players suffer from this even more so, since it's much harder to play MLB than to manage a retail store.
  17. I don't think I'm acquainted with your opinions of Gardy? And with that I believe I've won the sarcasm contest for the evening. No one else even try.
  18. The wind always blows west in Boston, because New York sucks. Is there ever a bad time for a joke at the Yankees expense?
  19. We'll hit well tonight. There's a reason my buddies and I call him "The Dumpster," even though it's way too obvious for a good nickname.
  20. I like sitting Hicks for that mistake. His defense has been C- so far. And I think Gardy's doghouse has evolved into a short-term stay type of establishment.
  21. If he gets hurt playing independent ball he gets zero. For a kid just starting out in his career, I would call that a dumb move. Going back to college is another story, getting an education and paving the way for a non-baseball career is a smart move. But to turn down 2.6M, an amount of money many people will not earn over their entire working lives, seems to speak of a level of entitlement that rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Drew and I'm glad it worked out for him. But dumb move.
  22. I've always thought that the strategy for drafting should be very similar to going after big name free agents. About 95% of the time in the draft you should pick the best available in the draft, and only if you are very stocked overall and have a glaring need should you steer the pick into that "need" area and sacrifice some overall talent. Similarly with free agents, I think it makes more sense to build from within 95% of the time, and only when you are a piece or two away from a championship do you take a leap and invest heavy dollars.
  23. I also am not in love with the way the "closers" are used in today's game. When did it start? Eckersly? I think it takes away some of the creativity and options from managers, but if I'm being honest, they all do it because it works most of the time.
  24. I disagree. I figured it out just by looking at it and remembering my (too) many mental images of Delmon staggering around our outfield like a drunk sailer. It captured the gestult to perfection
