  1. Last thing I wanted to hear is Rocco back. How many times will we see like this year over and over a starter doing real well, pitch count good or excellent, doing real well but suddenly in inning 5 or 6 or 7 he starts an inning with a hit or walk and Rocco wants to make it about him and knowing the perfect time to bring in a lefty to face a lefty. Then right down the tubes. Again and again. Oh but he was a lefty. Then also there’s the getting stuck on the lefty righty thing regarding pinch hitting. To wit, Margo in to face a lefty and going 0 for 28. Like a collective Larnac, Wallner and Julien would have done that? I doubt it. All you can say if he is back let’s hope he learns and can keep his head should we say where the sun does shine.
  2. I’ve been a Twins fan a long time. Who else remembers Bombo Rivera? I’ve never wanted a manager out before including when they probably needed it and my fellow fans were crying for it. That precedent is out the window. In spades. But I don’t know if I agree with others here calling for whole staff to go including the FO.. I think it’s the manager and his need to make it about him.
  3. No. The team (and injury) are responsible for not winning the division. Rocco did more than enough personally to collapse right out of the wild card. Over the year how many times at the drop of a hat has he taken out a pitcher doing excellent to put in a failure because he was a lefty or whatever. He seems to think it’s the only consideration. Tonight Zebby gave up his second (?) hit in 4 2/3. One more batter to go 5 innings. So get him out of there and put in the unknown lefty. This has happened over and over again.. He wants to make it about him. If the lefty comes through (usually he didn’t) oh boy Rocco knew just when to take out the pitcher doing well.
  4. Hey that guy they took out Zebby (doing excellent) out for WAS a lefty.. That makes all the difference for Rocco. Even though this same thing from today has happened again and again and again.

  8. How about just against the lefties for Margot? Apparently Wallner, Larnac and Julien never get hits against lefties.
  9. Is there any way Rocco could bat Margot in all 9 spots tomorrow?
  10. Okay going back a couple innings in the first Boston game. Why did Lewis not score from third ona dropped infield pop up? His fault or third base coach? He stands there a foot off third dreaming when he should have been crow hopping. I don’t know exactly how far but maybe a third of the way. Easy score. Typical second half.
  11. Someone tell Rocco that Nolan Ryan averaged 107 pitches over a 27 year career. He once pitched 235 pitches in a 13 inning game. But the game has these babied arms that still blow out. Maybe if they’re bound to they’re bound to. Tonight Ober had 80 through 7 innings. He was practically untouched. Had one I think 6 pitch inning. He could have had a 15 pitch 8th and still been good for the 9th. But Rocco once again wants part of the action and come in with the big move that wins it only for the umpteenth time the opposite happened.
  12. How many pitches did Ober have? He was way low number and I’m sure ended that way. Seems like the 10th time we’ve had a starter mowing them down with no real reason for removal. But Rocco takes them out like he needs to be the hero with the big move and then the new guy blows it. Once we got the no 1-2-3 inning ever Duran out Jax almost saved it but it took bad luck and decision making by Brooks Lee. Hopefully he will start playing with his head in the sunshine at some point.
  13. Long as I’m riled I’ll continue. What’s with this oh so rarely green light 3-0? I’m with Trevor Plouffe in the booth.. Repeatedly I scream at the screen as they watch the fattest pitch imaginable go by and then strike 2 on a pitcher’s pitch and strike 3 completely out of the zone. Green light should be more the default rather than a rarity.
  14. What October with Rocco? How many pitches did Jax have tonight? Not many right. So why in a big spot and big game not run him back out. Saving him for tomorrow or the next day or so when there may well be no big spot. Put in Okert to sidle slatternly around the mound blowing it as could be expected. Rocco likes to pitch these guys one inning whether they throw 6 or 26 pitches and act like he’s the genius rather than let the players win or lose the game. Did anyone ever tell him how many pitches Nolan Ryan threw for what 25 years? Oh and Okert is a lefty though . Rocco ever think they might put in a PH better than the lefty batter. Oh and another lefty coming up. Arraez. Geez who’d ever think he could hit a lefty pitcher? Who would you rather have pitch to him Okert or Jax?
  15. I no longer trust Thielbar in big spots. I wish Rocco wouldn’t. In spite of that it took bad luck to lose. One inch from a homer. A base hit with a guy on third and no score. Even the last batter Larnac hits a sharp grounder that could have tied it. But an at ‘em ball for a DP.
  16. The TV crew loves tradition. Good. So they should know the age old saying is “a guy makes a great play and bats first in the next inning.” Not just bats anywhere in the inning. I heard Curt Gowdy and many others say it a million times.
  17. Last night Okert almost got in the way and stopped Santana from making a key unassisted play at first. Later he ran over and spooked Lee at third and a pop bunt drops as the biggest reason for the loss. That said maybe Lee should have been more aggressive calling for it. It was his play. Lee seems to have a little mental block since he stopped hitting so well. And for the love of all that’s holy, get Lee a helmet that doesn’t slide down when he swings hard.
  18. While not as egregious as the Toronto manager the other day, Rocco messed up with the quick hook on Ober. Should have let him start another inning and if he gave up one or two hits more remove him. I think Rocco lost a few games this year with a quick hook. On Julien, I like him. Good hitter. Good eye. Needs a little work on defense. Lot of work on base running as we see today. But for heaven’s sake get a different helmet or hairdo so the helmet doesn’t go sideways as you’re trying to swing the bat.
  19. No Buxton? What’s he, a pinch runner now? DH isn’t working out. Maybe he has to play in the field to be Buxton. What a concept huh? Seriously I don’t know if there is a physical or sensible based reason to keep a player like that non contributing, but how about getting him in center field if physical able. If he gets injured he gets injured. It wouldn’t be worse than the current contribution. Taylor could play some games out there and I would love to see both at once in the outfield. Kepler at this point anyway could be a defensive replacement for AK. Let’s get this team’s head right and with their starting pitching (if they’re allowed to pitch) go in for the kill in this division and then see what happens.
  20. Beyond last night, our manager has hurt the team bad several times with a quick hook. And at the drop of a hat. Guy’s mowing ‘em down multiple innings would seem to have multiple pitches left and he’s jerked after one walk or two hits. It’s like our manager wants to be part of the action and play the part of the just at the right time genius only it hasn’t been repeatedly. Last night Sonny did lose control bad but got out with minimum damage and should have been allowed to come back out and settle down and qualify for the win.
  21. He could have broke his neck on that play. Another example of the “non contact “ sport of baseball.
  22. I hate to say this because he’s one of my favorites and because of his defense but I’m starting to agree with others that maybe Kepler is done. With Larnac and maybe even more Wallner in the wings. But no St. Paul option undoubtedly for Kep. I wish there was.
  23. Another quick hook as far as I’m concerned.
  24. I meant to quote Squerill. No my saying so called stomach problems I was not suggesting AK did not have that. I was trying to avoid saying the D word, the quick step. In case that wasn’t allowed.
  25. Geez I wish we had our A lineup. Sick guy too. So called stomach problems again? They need a guy to teach them something about germ theory. And now Carlos planter fasciitis (sp). Remember the year and I think it was a World Series year when Shannon Stewart came over mid year and had that but was key in Twins success.. So there’s that.
