  1. Is Kornhaber the same guy as Carl Gerbschmidt? Has anyone seen them together?
  2. I don't think there's any reason that he won't be effective and be able to pitch a decent amount of innings. I'm optimistic he'll be as good as before. He's had more time to recover than the standard TJ surgeries usually have, and the brace surgery is/was supposed to shorten the recovery time. Maeda never was a guy to blow people away with his heat...he's crafty and needs to hit his spots. He should be fine.
  3. Really looking forward to seeing him make it to the bigs, and I don't think it'll be very long. He looks to be a good one.
  4. I'd sure take Hand over Megill and Santana. It's only ST, but Megill was brutal today. Hand might not blow it by you at 95+, but he's not gonna walk three guys and then give up a dinger. For some reason, we love projects.
  5. Imo...this is kind of an odd move to add Solano. Not saying it's necessarily bad, but just a little odd. Why? We have a lot of overlap position-wise. Some of that is definitely good. It just seems like it's overkill now. There has to be some more moves coming one way or another. Trades?
  6. I think that we're a better team than last season. Whether or not that translates to wins, I don't know. The pitching staff alone should be significantly better. Injuries could derail everything, just like with any team. Losing Arraez will hurt. Getting Gallo might hurt too. Can Buxton make it through a full season? Will Miranda hold his own in both hitting and fielding? Will Polanco rebound? Will Kirilloff's wrist be ok? Still a lot of questions. I'm much more optimistic going into this season, than I was last season, but we'll see what happens. Bring on the games!
  7. Yup...at one of the local fast food places.
  8. Imo...anything we can get from him would be a plus. I don't think he figures into any plans for this season. He's WAY down the list right now. I hope he can make it back from the finger injury, but I doubt he jumps any of the pitchers we already have.
  9. Mahle is one to watch closely. He supposedly just had "inflammation" in his shoulder last season. Well, Frankie Montas also had inflammation in his shoulder and was shut down last season. The Yankees just announced that Montas is going under the knife next week for shoulder surgery. No word yet as to exactly what the surgery is. Let's hope Mahle doesn't have the same result. Aside from that, Kirilloff's wrist is also a big concern, and of course we'll need to keep an eye on Buxton too.
  10. Saw a report from Doogie this morning, that the Twins are interested in Brad Hand. He wouldn't be too bad of an addition to the pen.
  11. Has anyone seen, or heard, anything about his shoulder? I don't recall seeing anything. For that matter, all I can remember reading, is that he was dealing with "inflammation". That's what the story was last season. If he's healthy, he could be a real big boost to the rotation.
  12. If they somehow use Pagan in anything other than mop up roles, in blow out games...then something is really wrong with whatever the master plan is.
  13. Sure hope he can come back at 100%, or as close as possible. We really could use him in the lineup. Didn't realize he had such an injury history.
  14. Both of these guys will be extremely valuable.
  15. Sure would be nice if he was finally healthy and we could see what he's capable of.
  16. In the traditional baseball sense...he's not an "ace". We don't have an "ace". We haven't had a pitcher that even remotely qualifies as an "ace", since Johan Santana was here.
  17. Sano is supposedly doing his workout showcase today down in Tampa. I'm sure we'll see something about how it went in the next day or two. If I was going to make a bet on either Sano or Vargas making it to a big league club, I'd pick Sano. I just hope it isn't with us.
  18. I'm in the camp that thinks Miranda is probably better suited to be at 1st, but time will tell. I also honestly don't believe Kirilloff will be able to recover from his wrist injury, and I hope I'm wrong. Miranda's certainly no Gio when he plays 3rd, but he'll improve with more experience. I'm sure we'll have to put up with some errors, but C4 will cover for some of Miranda's inexperience.
  19. I think one of the biggest keys to this, is that the infielders HAVE to play on the infield. No more 2nd or 3rd baseman playing in short RF. I'm sure that a SS will get as close to 2nd base as he can at times, but there still has to be two infielders on either side of 2nd base, on the infield. Can't wait to see these changes, and the others, in actual game situations. Should be very interesting.
  20. Tough to answer this question right now. We've got a lot of arms/bodies, and if they're all healthy for the most part, we've maybe got something decent going on depth-wise. I think everyone probably agrees that Cleveland's starters are probably better overall. Especially Bieber and McKenzie. We'll know more about our guys once the season gets under way. If we can dodge the injury bullet, I like our chances.
  21. Not overly interested in any of those guys. Maybe Moore, but that would be it.
  22. Something has to happen with Kep, or one of the other OF's. We have too many left handed hitting OF's. It kind of looks like our FO believes that Kep's trade value is worth more than potential interested teams do, and are asking too much for him. Still time to make moves. Waiting until the deadline is too late. They need to do something before the season starts.
  23. I'm old and old school...I do Baseball Reference.
  24. Never particularly liked the guy as a player, and I don't think signing him was necessarily a smart move, but if he can put 40 balls over the RF overhang and drive in 90+...well, I guess I can live with that and the low .200's avg.
