  1. Pay the man. If you can dump Sano and Kepler you have around $50-$60 million in spending money this off-season, and oddly enough you’ve got a 6-man rotation with serious depth (Gray, Mahle, Ryan, Ober, Maeda, Winder; Dobnak, Varland, Smeltzer and SWR as depth starters) and could save serious money there. You need a SS, a solid catcher, righty outfield help and another bullpen arm. You can still pay Correa $30m this year on a lengthy contract and have enough to bolster the rest of the regime. As for the future at SS, Lewis, Lee and Martin could scoot over to 2B/3B, Julien and future SS can be used as trade bait. Then you have serious depth around the infield AND premium players
  2. Eat 1/2 of his contract and dump him to the Rays and see what you can get for him, he’s just a placeholder for Wallner and the Twins don’t need this many Lefties manning the corners (I think they should dump Larnach too, Gordon and Kirilloff seem capable enough and he could have some serious trade value). As for OF, I’d acquire Ramon Laureano: a decent hitter and fielder who can play all 3 OF positions. He serves as both a Wallner placeholder and Buxton replacement while being cheaper than Kepler and a righty with more control
  3. I doubt Correa will be back, so what’s the plan if he opts out? Extend Correa—not likely, this organization doesn’t want another Joe Mauer. Sign another SS free agent—the other top 3 SS on the market are Turner, Bogaerts, and Swanson. Swanson offers a fantastic glove with a lot of power, and the average has come up this year. Don’t know how consistent that will be though. Swanson will likely get a smaller deal, but it still could be lengthy. Bogaerts has a fantastic bat but dwindling defense. He’s gonna probably get 5-8 years but around $30m each year, so probably a $150-$250 contract. Turner’s the best SS on the market and will probably get a contract bigger than Corey Seager’s last year. Outside of that it’s just Jose Iglesias, who seems like another Andrelton Simmons in the making. Trade for a SS—Not any star-studded options, but names pop up. Ha-Seong Kim from the Padres is alright and can play the entire infield, Amed Rosario only has a year left in Cleveland (although they might extend him), Brandon Crawford has struggled so far in SF but seems…suspicious; might be good in a platoon, and Miguel Rojas from the Marlins, maybe his bat could heat up after a change of location cuz his defense is there. If I were the Twins: Acquire Kim from the Padres for Trevor Larnach and use the FA money to fix the rest of the team
  4. I just hope this team to be good in 2023. I honestly prefer if Correa left, I don’t wanna lock up a SS for 10 years if your top 2 prospects are both shortstops that can mash and Will both be up around 2024. If The Twins don’t sign back Bundy, Archer, Sano, or Correa and can Trade away Kepler you’ve got a good $60m or so in FA money, don’t go and play the same game as last year and try to “manufacture” a pitching staff. Get an Ace in the rotation (COUGH COUGH CARLOS RODON) and a high-tier CF so we don’t have to see the Celestino-Gordon show for half the season, fill patches in the reliever core and find a good Catcher. Oh yeah and fix the management altogether. Let’s see how Falvey fares.
  5. Maybe, but that’s at the majors, and after not that much time at AAA. I’d rather have a guy with potential at AAA than 2 guys hitting for sub-.700 OPS’s in Wichita. This might’ve been the best time to trade Austin Martin
  6. I still don’t like Spencer steer being a red. He’s a quality bat and the Twins could’ve used Mahle’s injury problem to use instead say…Austin Martin and Aaron Sabato? I would’ve been much more okay with that package.
  7. Bad baserunning, terrible relief in the first half, A lack of quality starts from Archer and whoever we threw out as our 5th man, a lack of quality at-bats from the bats, too many players on the 60-day, and what pisses me off is a lack of outfield help at the deadline. We’ve been throwing out Jake cave and Billy Hamilton regularly and it’s been a huge problem
  8. Dyson-no comment Maeda-didn’t show issues early on, still a very good steal from the very weird Mookie Betts Trade. I would still take Maeda over Graterol and Raley. Paddack-bad trade, especially considering the pieces you got back with him. Mahle-trade irritates me. You knew of his injury issues and still gave up serious prospects for him, Steer already looks solid in Cincinnati and I think CES and Hajjar can be something big as well. They weren’t worth what we got back, and getting almost anyone else would’ve Been better.
  9. With Archer it’s completely acceptable, he can’t go far into games and it’s plain as day to see. Bundy maybe, although he’s been looking better as of recent and has been doing his job. If you have to pitch Smeltzer or Sanchez yes, but with Ryan and Gray I draw the line. Ryan’s success in a day is usually decided in the first 4 innings, he’s either great or being blown up. If he’s succeeded, keep him in. As for Gray, pitch him at least 6 innings. He wants to go deeper and he’s clearly had enough success overall, you acquired him to be good so let him lead you for most of the game. Only take them out if they’ve thrown 90+ Pitches. Same with Varland, his debut was ruined because they took him out in the 6th. Let him pitch if he’s having success
  10. I trust Canterino will make it, he has the stuff of a big-leaguer, he just needs to stay on the field. I think Balazovic has potential to be a great major leaguer but needs to mature at AAA, maybe try a relief role in September. Martin Worries me, both with his incredibly questionable defense and struggling offense, I think the T’s should dump him.
  11. The Twins should pick up Urshela’s 2023 option. Miranda and Arraez aren’t good enough defenders at the hot corner and belong more at first or second, and Lewis isn’t supposed to be back until at least a month or two into the season. As for the open market, Brandon Drury, Joey Wendle, and Justin Turner seem to be the only valuable options; Drury is just a copy-paste 1B/2B/3B of Arraez and Miranda and the other two are both on club options. Turner’s too old to invest in and while I like Joey Wendle he doesn’t seem to bring enough to the table to want him over Urshela. As for trades, nothing jaw-dropping looks available and you should probably hold on to your top prospects for now.
  12. IF SWR is as good as Berrios was in his stretch with the Twins, there needs to be 2 changes that happen with SWR: support and control. Berrios was great but outside of 2020 Maeda he had practically no pitching help and sat alone atop the rotation. Get quality guys behind SWR and see what happens. Then, lock him up if he is really looking that good. The Twins should’ve extended Berrios and offered it to him in 2018-2020, if you have a guy like that in your rotation pay him.
  13. The Twins should spend most of their budget in 2023 on new stars, solidify that group. After 2023 get into extension talks, as you have a lot of contracts off your books and a lot of cheap rookies (hopefully) coming in and being capable to cover their role
  14. This’ll be another interesting offseason. The Twin’s needs aren’t as monumental as last year, but they still exist. If Correa opts out they’ll need an SS, they need a long-term catcher, and this team is still without a true Ace in a market about to be full of Ace-Caliber starters, but lacks the roster space to hold any new starters.
  15. I highly doubt they’ll accept Bundy’s club option, the Twins already have a lot of pitchers better than him for next year. Mahle, Ryan, Gray (if he returns), Ober, Maeda, Winder, Dobnak, Smeltzer, as well as prospects like SWR, Varland, Sands, Balazovic etc.
  16. If the Twins want to seal the Central for next year they’ll have to have enough strong Veterans ahead of these Rookies. Don’t count on Kirilloff or Larnach to be healthy all year, have serious reinforcements in the pitching staff, and be ready to sign a serious Catcher and Shortstop in Free Agency. Learn from Andrelton Simmons and chase after guys who you can seriously trust.
  17. If the Twins can get Maeda, Ober, Thielbar, and Alcala back this rotation looks really good. One of the problems I saw was execution. Tonight for example, they threw Megill an extra inning and he got shelled. Then Duffey came in and let up just as many though 1.2. You have 8 bullpen arms so use them.
  18. I think the Twins should target Anthony Bass as another reliever, also get Mahle and probably another starter, then likely some buy-low placeholder OFs and an ok catcher
  19. The Twins will have to pull a 2021 Atlanta Braves and reshape the outfield at the deadline. Kepler, Larnach, and Kirilloff are all injured and have questionable return times, so the Twins will be throwing out an outfield of Gordon, Buxton, and Garlick for probably 2+ Weeks (barring trades). The Twins will need at the very least 1, hopefully 2 corner outfielders to bolster the lineup, while finding a decent backup catcher (Hamilton isn’t working out), 2 starters, and 2 relievers in…18 hours. God bless this organization.
  20. Twins/Red Sox: Twins get SP Nathan Eovaldi and UT Kike Hernandez for RF Max Kepler, 1B Miguel Sano, RHP Blayne Enlow #17p. Twins get 2 guys that have been very dominant in the postseason and off Miguel Sano, Red Sox get pieces that will benefit them sooner than later. Wallner looks about major-league ready and can put faith into him starting next year. Twins/Reds: Twins get OF Tyler Naquin for SP Chris Archer, OF Jake Cave, and RHP Sean Mooney #30p. Twins get a decent RF in the absence of Kepler and shave off Chris Archer. Twins/Marlins: Twins get RP Anthony Bass and C Jacob Stallings for 1B Aaron Sabato #13p, RHP Cole Sands #14p and C Caleb Hamilton. Twins get a strong high-end reliever and a quality backup catcher for prospects of mediocre interest. Twins/Diamondbacks: Twins get SP Merrill Kelly for OF Misael Urbina #9p and RHP Casey Legumina #25p. Kelly honestly sounds like a twins starter and would strengthen the rotation in comparison to Archer. Urbina has upside but is struggling. Twins/Rockies: Twins get RP Daniel Bard for SS Keoni Cavaco #19p and RP Joe Smith. I honestly don’t know what the Rockies want and hope this would be enough. Total Off-season: SP Nathan Eovaldi, SP Merrill Kelly, RP Anthony Bass, RP Daniel Bard, OF Tyler Naquin, U Kike Hernandez, C Jacob Stallings For: RF Max Kepler, 1B Miguel Sano, SP Chris Archer, RP Joe Smith, C Caleb Hamilton, OF Jake Cave, Misael Urbina #9p, Aaron Sabato #13p, Cole Sands #14p, Blayne Enlow #17p, Keoni Cavaco #19p, Casey Legumina #25p, Sean Mooney #30p. Outcome: Twins still retain all highly-touted players and look good enough for the postseason.
  21. 2 more catchers available would be Omar Narvaez and Christian Vasquez. The Brewers seem alright with Caratini and Severino in a platoon role and the Red Sox are falling farther out of the playoff race. Both are on expiring contracts and would be solid improvements to Gary Sanchez.
  22. If they send enough to San Diego (A.K.A. Max Kepler or Trevor Larnach) and eat Blake Snell’s contract that seems possible
  23. This bullpen needs 2, maybe 3 more improvements. Duffey has been better, Jax, Megill, and Moran have been reliable, and Duran still is phenomenal. But Cotton and Smith are struggling and Thielbar just got injured. Alcala could be back soon but you still have glaring holes in high-end situations.
  24. The Twins should use Ober in a long-relief role. He’s been consistently solid through 2 years but never goes more than 4-5 Innings. Considering how long we throw Archer, Bundy, and even Ryan recently, the Twins should set up someone in this role. Winder works in this role too, if he gets another likely call up.
  25. Extra sleeper target: Ian Happ. Incredibly consistent switch-hitting bat, can play both Center and Left at a high level and allows for Larnach and Celestino to become trade candidates.
