  1. 2 Buxton cheap shots in 2 minutes? Why. One is fine.
  2. This new three hitter isn't any better
  3. 10 extra feet of carry in that first inning and we start the top of the second down 8-0
  4. Trust Falvey Buxton should be batting 3rd, he needs plate apperances
  5. As were those two first inning catches
  6. An extra at bat only 2 out of 3 games and an OBP difference of .209 from average , actually he is costing us a base runner 1 in every 7.17 games by not batting 9th. Now if you want him out of the game entirely that's different.
  7. Along with the 2nd highest strength or schedule in baseball based on record of opponents and opponents of opponents.
  8. If an extra at bat 2 of 3 nights can get him to figure it out a game or two quicker it ends up working in our favor. He's capable of doing big things on offense. No need to screw around. Given average on base percentage and his current #'s batting him 3rd as opposed to 9th cost us a base runner every 6th game.
  9. I'm such a non gambler, I was and am confident this is a minimum playoff contender but I just couldn't make that bet. That being said if you've taken the Twins at whatever odds they gave you since 1961 you're ahead of the game.
  10. Buxton would be batting 9th if batting him 9th would give us a meaningful advantage. As for the Grossman Park conversation, we didn't sign Chris Carter who represents the absolute most you could expect out of the almost 31 year old Park. The Homerun isn't that valuable without a decent on base percentage to go with it. Trust Falvey.
  11. While these #'s in the long run will give you a good indication of who the best pitch framers are this feels like as useful data as batting average pitcher wins or errors. You would have to know where the pitchers intended to put every pitch to really measure the impact. It really is a combination of pitch framing and game calling. I also think this is more important when dealing with average to below average pitchers then good to great pitchers, although it could just come down to how a pitcher pitches more so then how good he is. The key is knowing the advantage you have and using that knowledge to further benefit yourself.
  12. I never make the same people saying A are also saying B argument because it's often mostly different people, but if you argued for Park to be up and Buxton to be down I don't get it. Buxton's outfield defense is more valuable then Parks occasional Home run and Buxtons offense and Park's non home run offense are about equal with the difference being Buxton will improve.
  13. I'll watch sporting events I don't care about just to watch how bad officials and umpires can be. As for pitch framing I think it's a game changing skill that goes far beyond what we can measure as it allows the pitcher to expand everything he's doing. Suzuki is probably a below replacement level player when pitch framing is properly factored in, but Castro's WAS (wins over Suzuki) I figure to be a minimum of 20.
  14. Having a perfect bullpen through 6 innings maybe has tricked me into this thought, but I'd like to go the whole season with 13 pitchers. The same games where the bigger bench is needed are the extra inning games where the extra pitcher is an even bigger advantage. Why would you ever need to make more then 3 bench moves in a 9 inning game. You would make 6 or 7 if you could sometimes, but you sure don't need to.
  15. By adding a few more singles doubles and walks and cutting down on the strikeouts. If he's hitting .270 with the power numbers he usually puts up May 1st I imagine he will get the call.
  16. Good thing every game has a 3rd 4th and 7th inning. Sometimes the walk leads to 6 runs. Sometimes the 422 foot homerun leads to 1 run, and sometimes you score runs against good pitchers. Baseballs a crazy game. Santana had a great pitching performance mostly because he didn't walk guys. The homerun he gave up wasn't a problem. In the long run it appears on base percentage has more value then power.
  17. Or if that situation presented itself you could do what you had to to get through that game and call someone up the next game. Worst case Scenario it happens in a close game and a potential win turns into one loss. I'm waiting to see how they use the 13 man staff before I conclude extra bench bats are more important.
  18. I give Molitor a ton of credit for buying in. Of course the majority of people on this site understand this lineup and what the front office is trying to accomplish, but the average fan has no grasp of whats going on. If you play your best lineup and maximize your best players as opposed to the traditional lineup you improve your team greatly. I look forward to seeing what else they try that would shock traditionalist.
  19. You never know what you might get for even a Giminez or Escobar but you could only expect a meaningful return on 4 maybe 5 players. Lets make sure we're not 7-3 in two weeks before worrying about this stuff. Even if this is a well below average team again we're due for a decent start, and I actually don't think this team is that bad. Doesn't mean you don't still trade Doizer even if you are sort of in playoff contention, but it might not be as automatic as we make it out to be. Of course I understand I'm way to optimistic, but it's baseball let it play out. Not every smart young GM feels the need to destroy a roster to fix it despite that being a plan that has proven to work with the Cubs.
  20. While it seems clear to me that Trumps involvement with Russia is far more then he's willing to admit I'm still trying to figure out what the crime is. I'd like them to find it as soon as possible as he's proven to be ineffective and an enemy of my politics. Maybe the Democrats are delaying any major findings as they see he's ineffective and of course wouldn't prefer a more effective Republican in Pence without maximizing the political effect by having this all go on right before the midterms.
  21. Because until you're 3 games out you're in contention. I like a lot about this team and think it has a chance.
  22. Looks like I'm wrong Trump is doing everything he said and it sounds like the court nominee is also going to be great. I know part of the reason Democrats weren't worried the Garland nominee was ignored was because they assumed victory but it's crazy they didn't fight harder to at least make the Republican inaction an election issue. It still was crazy to reject Cruz Rubio and Walker for someone it didn't appear we could trust, but in hindsight I would have supported Trump from the start. His flaws are nothing but distractions in our favor. It might come back to burn Republicans in 2018 or 2020 but doing what you say you are going to do probably isn't gonna hurt you more then the typical Republican response of compromise.
  23. Could it be that the arbitration process over values Home Runs? Maybe he's an 8 million dollar player who would have been awarded 15 million. It's probably more then just that, but I would imagine if the Brewers didn't fear him being overpaid by a wide margin they would be willing to put up with his negatives.
  24. I'm hearing 2 of trumps finalist for the supreme court are horrible from a conservative standpoint, not John Roberts in hindsight a little to moderate, but almost want to confirm Obama's nominee bad. If the Democrats had somehow won both congress and the senate I would fear what we get next week as Trump has never in any meaningful way established he is a conservative other then things he's said in between known lies. I hope Republicans are letting him hang himself if he becomes the liberal that he's been the majority of his life. Make that nomination Donald it's time to show your true colors. As a politician I like his counter punch style even if it's a bit much at times (better to error on that side then to ever come up short) and to the extent that he worked for the inside straight he needed to be elected despite losing by 2.1% I give him credit for being able to do things others can't. Problem is when after the election and before any of his policy fights start he's still telling way to many provable lies and I just don't trust he's a conservative. He'll try to bully Republicans that disagree with him and will have success when he goes after the moderates, but good luck if Ted Cruz Mike Lee and Rand Paul start fighting him
