  1. The kid is only 21 years old. He won't be 22 until late October. What's the rush. If he makes it to the Show at 25 instead of 24 will that be so bad. He was one of the 5 youngest college players in the whole draft last year. Let him get there and stay there. NO RUSH
  2. Isn't Cedar Rapids off today? I think you meant someone else from Miracle (Not Hicks = CR)
  3. I agree with Harrison. Everyone talked about his power potential and he has made me a believer. He should have 6 HRs. Polanco was always a star in waiting for me. So smooth. If those guys move up - who moves out or up from A+
  4. Seth Great article and excellent assessments. Which 3 of the prospects has surprised you the most so far this year (positive or negative) and which 3 prospects have the greatest chance to move up a level at / by the All Star break?
  5. How about those Kernels as far as prospects are concerned. Travis Harrison with his 5th HR (should be 6 with grand slam / single )and 3 RBIs - Dalton HIcks (underrated) went 4 for 5 - and Adam Brett Walker II continues to put up RBI numbers with 5 tonight (including his 2nd Grand Slam of year). He now has Twins minor league high of 32 RBI through 29 games (batting .303 too). Oh yeah Buxton only reached base again to extend his streak. "He's a Baaaaaad Man"
  6. I would like: Manaea (LHP) 1st Round Anderson (RHP) 2nd Round That would provide possibly 2 starting pitchers for the future or some needed trade bait if we need a middle infielder or catcher in the near future. Both are big kids and should be quality arms sooner than later. I would load up on high school position players after the 2nd round or go the college reliever route again to solidify the bullpen in near future.
  7. Who are our steals in the draft? or International signees? Who are some of the other prospects who aren't (your usual suspects / Top Signees) that round out this amazing jump in the system? (example - Tyler Duffy; Kyle Knudson; ____; etc.)
  8. He was the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) District Player of the Year Award in 2011. He won over college players from the following states: District III: Kentucky, Tennessee,Mississippi, Alabama, and yes Florida; The writers must have thought enough of his performance to warrant his play, Big Time. It is true that he played in a lesser conference, but he did play the Florida States 5 games(.400+ BA with 2 HRs and 4 Doubles) and Floridas 3 games (defeated them when they were number #1 in country) and numerous other ranked teams, to name a few. The question is how did he do against Top competition. He did well become a Semi Finalist for the Golden Spike and Howser Award. Just glad the Twins took a chance on him and could see the upside. I'm a believer - Dude performs his best against the best..........: Baseball America | Blog | Baseball America Draft Blog | Stats For Top 200 College Hitters On Friday Nights
  9. No Doubt, but I think he has a little more versatility than Ortiz. A better athlete and better looking speciman at same age. As far as levels and expectations (That's up to management - not fans) Most people evaluate players - By production and consistency. Success in the minors is about dominating your currrent level and improving in areas your organization expects you to. Walker has cut down his strike out rate to 22% as of todays game. Last year he was at 33%. The kid deserves credit for that (for now). His average has also improved by 40+ points in the process. It's all about development and he seems to be working in right direction.
  10. Production wins championships & make up
  11. kab21 - I agree that Walker is not worthy of Top 10 Prospect status. I also don't care if a prospect makes his MLB debut at 23 or 25 years old. However long it takes to get the job done once you arrive. If I asked you to tell me the debut age for Albert Pujols; Josh Hamilton; Prince Fielder; Ryan Braun; or Tori Hunter; - could you without looking it up? Some maybe, but probably not, because all that matters is that you produce once you get there. If Walker spent each year in his respective levels - he would be only 25 in his debut. Most 25 year olds should be able to play at least 7-10 more years at a productive level. My point is "age only becomes an issue - when it becomes an issue" Profound I know - All that matters is working at being the best at each level you arrive at (A-A+-AA-AAA-MLB). If you do that regardless of age - You will be productive and fans should / will forget about age.
  12. Walker was one of the youngest college players in the draft last year, so I wouldn't be in a rush to promote him. The average age for the MWL is 21 anyway. He won't be 21 until after instructionals / Fall ball. Besides its a long season. I believe he can keep it up, but we will see?
  13. As you look at the video - Hicks and Walker touch home before Harrison. Hicks leaves the base path (split second ), but Walker waits for Hicks before he touches home. Walker then touches home after Hicks and before Harrison. With only 1 out prior - Maybe HR should have counted. I'm petitioning to get Harrison his HR back. Your thoughts Jerry................ Watch video Hicks #36 & Walker #38
  14. Sano Stats over last 10 games: BA .289 / 38 AB / 11 R / 11 H / 1 2B / 0 3B / 5 HR / 11 RBI / 4 BB / 13 SO / .357 OBP / .711 SLUG Walker Stats over last 10 games: BA .385 / 39 AB / 12 R / 15 H / 1 2B / 1 3B / 5 HR / 18 RBI / 5 BB / 10 SO / .467 OBP / .846 SLUG That's alot of production in the power category - I'll take Sano 9 times out of 10, but Walker should get the edge this week for Twins Minor League player of the week. I'm just saying............. 15. Josh Burris last game experience involved a game tying HR in the bottom of the 9th and an extra inning Walk Off Grand Slam (Elizabethton 2012 Championship Game). In his first game of the 2013 season - Burris experiences a game with a crazy and similar ending. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130427&content_id=45998386&fext=.jsp&vkey=recap&sid=t492

  17. 2 HRs and 7 RBI yesterday for Walker and a replay of 2012 Elizabethton Championship game tonight --- Walker hits a game tying 3 Run HR in the bottom of the 9th and this time Travis Harrison hit the Grand Slam for the Walk Off in the 11th. UnReal !!!
  18. Adam Brett Walker - Over the last 10 games he has 5 HRs / 16 RBI / and a .386 BA. If not for Sano, he has to be the hotest power prospect in the system during that span. All Jorge Polanco does is hit for .300 and play solid defense. He is a special player as well. Excited to see Josh Burris join the Kernels. He was argueably the best pitcher on the Elizabethton Twins last year (7-0). He has best curve in system.
  19. Finally, as noted above, Walker's hot streak continued into the post-season where he batted .375/.483/.792, 6 G, 9-for-24, 1 2B, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 5 R, 3 SB and was named the MVP. TRex The ball just jumps off this kids bat. He's my sleeper prospect in this system. AND All the kid does is win!! GLSCL - Licking County Settlers (Champions / 1st time ever) in 2010 Cape Cod - Hyanis Harbor Hawks (Champions / 1st time in 20+ years) in 2011 Appalachain League (MILB) - Elizabethton Twins (Champions) in 2012 He has won a championship in each of the last 3 summer seasons. He was the Top player in 2 of the 3 championships as well. Everyone wants to know if he will be able to figure it out? I'm betting on his record!! Adam Brett Walker = Winner Oh yeah - the Kernels are in first place this season (2013) too --- just saying...........
  20. Sano Goes Yard and Buxton Goes Yard - These two are going to be very special players for the MN Twins in 2+ years. Buxton is a very special talent. Can't wait to get to CR and watch his rise.
  21. Talk about Adopting a Prospect: Berrios Lucky Charm In Berrios 2 regular season starts (Elizabethton) and 2 Playoff starts (Elizabethton) in 2012 - Adam Brett Walker has batted 7-15 with 3 HR / 1 Triple / 1 Double / 6 Runs / & 8 RBI In Berrios lone start in 2013 - Adam Brett Walker hit 2-4 with 1 Triple / 1 HR / 2 Runs / & 2 RBI THAT'S MY E'TOWN - KERNELS FOR YOU
  22. Great game for Adam Brett Walker. 1 Triple and a HR that was crushed according to announcer. Kernels win another one 8-4. He is starting to find his groove during the last 10 games. Hitting over .333 during that span (10 games).
  23. I agree to move JD Williams 1st - I like the idea of keeping Kepler (LF) - Buxton (CF) - Walker (RF) - Jimenez (OF) together for the next few years. They have played well together and there is something to be said about building a winning attitude at the lower levels. I would move Bux quickly from High A to AA next year as opposed to his first full season. You also have Nate Roberts coming off DL soon and he might start in High A before moving to AA. We also don't know what the daft might bring us as it relates to OF movement post MLB Draft? Let's see them (Kep & Bux) DOMINATE for a full season before rushing things - (ala Mauer)
  24. Does Sano's HR count as a HR if he is thrown out before he reaches home plate (ala DJ Hicks getting mobbed at 2B in walk off grand slam)? Does that run count? and is that why they had to go to extras instead of winning that game after 9? Oh yeah - Good for Sano!!! Head shots are unexceptable in this game. If your pitcher has control issues - don't have him throw at people!!
  25. If Berrios meets the Kernels in Peoria - Who is getting released or placed on DL or Sent to Ft. Myers? Isn't roster at capacity?
