  1. I'd like to know of another player with 50+ SBs in college and pro career with a better success rate (98%)? --- And that is funny Oldgoat - lol
  2. I was just discussung this with friends in regards to - Adam Brett Walker II: Through college and his professional career - he is 51 for 52 in stolen bases. College - 40 for 41 SBs (Division 1 Jacksonville University) Professional - 4 for 4 (Elizabethton 2012 regular season) / 3 for 3 (6 playoff games) / 4 for 4 (Cedar Rapids 2013 regular season). That's a 98% success rate in Stolen Bases over the last 5 years. That's right: I said 98% success rate . Let this man Run Not just a power hitter (.264 ISO in 2013 and 51 for 52 in SBs over 5 years) - High Baseball IQ - WINNER -- Let this man Run. He would have to get thrown out an awful lot to bring down his success rate. 100% as a pro

  4. I agree that it should be banned as well. I also think it should be considered interference if at 1B - 2B or 3B the defender uses his leg to make it impossible to slide into the base. I've seen so many MLB player called out this year because the leg of the defender prevents them from reaching the base as they slide back in. That's going to make the issue of spiking a defender more real in games to come. IMO
  5. I saw Chris Anderson going to St. Louis in a few Mock Drafts. St. Louis always drafts well and especially with pitchers. He should go in the mid teens of draft anyways. That being said - With no clear cut #4 out there - Draft Chris Anderson at #4 and use that saved money to over pay every remaining draft pick in the top 10 rounds. A local kid who bleeds MN and would not look to bolt from MN in later years. As well as a Big kid who has quality stuff. That is my reach for the day. Who can tell me that there is not another player in draft at our spot (#4) who doesn't have significant flaws. Stewart even has health concerns now. After #3 - everybody is a reach / stretch.
  6. I love that 6 of the Top 15 prospects on this list are from Cedar Rapids. You also have to love the depth in the outfield with Buxton; Arcia; Kepler; Walker; & Ortiz; (not to mention Hicks already there). There are even more guys who I didn't mention who have a solid chance. Between that group - That OF position looks to be high quality for years to come. DO NOT take an outfielder in draft - No one is Buxton worthy in this years draft and we could use help in so many other position areas first. There are some sleeper Pitchers and Catchers on the board too.
  7. Does the higher level prospect have to be expendable before they promote from below? or do you see some upcoming scenerio where some higher level prospects might hinder the promotion of lower level guys? Will some draft choices be made just to fill roster spots at lower levels, becasue of projected promotions?
  8. This is a very well done Kernels Promo. It would make me want to go to a game or two. That being said - I wondered what are some of the other affiliate promos out there? Post your teams promo link and lets see what affiliate does the best job of creating a buzz. What are your opinions on the following promos? Come Out and See the Kernels

  10. Who do you see leaving (promoted) at each respective level? and what happens to those individuals they replace? (cut / promoted as well)? Position players mainly?
  11. He is definitely a line drive hitter (sqaures ball up) who seems to have very good power. His hits on the radio sound loud off his bat every time.
  12. I like this kid more and more each time. The future is bright. Adam Brett Walker II - Minneapolis TV News Interview Byron Buxton's Promising, But Don't Forget Adam Brett Walker | Watch the video - Yahoo! Screen What a great CR team - all around.
  13. That being said: The Kernels would have 5 guys with over 100+ RBI and 20+ HRs with the above rationale: Harrison 27 HRs & 101 RBI Polanco 40 Doubles & 131 RBI Buxton (See above) Hicks 20 HRs / 48 Doubles / 131 RBI Walker 37 HRs / 39 Doubles / 15 Triples / 170 RBI They also have 6 guys targeting the 100+ Runs scored marker!! Most people probably believe that something has to give. But - even if the Kernels statistically start to level off - These above guys are each looking at one special season.
  14. I agree with every point you made and could not say it better myself. With the proper instruction - This kid will be the steal of the draft. Take a chance and draft him. He might even take a tad bit less to go number #4 as well - opening possibilities to taking another chance on high end second round pick. This is a draft that is built on High Risk prospects. Take a chance Twins - I Trust Terry Ryan and his scouting department.
  15. FYI According to the Kernels website: Duffy pitches tonight (Friday) and Berrios pitches tomorrow (Saturday) and Tomshaw pitches on Sunday - with Lee again Monday. That seems to be the correct order. OFF TUESDAY and Then they go with Boyd and Meloatakis to start Beloit series next Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
  16. Romy was lights out last year in ETown. He was hands down the leading MVP candidate for the league before his injury in July. He has the "it" for sure and just needs to find it. I wouldn't give up on him so quickly. He was leading the Appy league in almost every offensive category last year on a very talented ETown team. He just needs some one on one help with his mechanics or something.
  17. For those of you who didn't know - Adam Brett Walker II was a 2nd Team All American at 1B in several (4+) major publications (including Baseball America). I believe he is destined for RF in his early career, but I have no doubt he could play 1B later on in his career. BTW - He hit his 10th HR (Grand Slam) today and now has 44 RBI in 35 Games. And he is buildt like a LB. Not worried about weight issues for some years. Walker receives first team All-America honors from Perfect Game USA - Jacksonville University Official Athletic Site
  18. I like your thinking. How about an outfield of Walker RF - Buxton CF - and JU teammate Murphy in LF in Ft. Myers for the rest of 2013 or J.D. Williams in LF with Murphy as 4th outfielder. I'm talking strickly speed. Buxton is fastest in system with Williams 2nd. Murphy was 2nd in NCAA in stolen bases during his final collegiate season. Walker was 40 for 41 in stolen bases in college. That would be a very speedy OF as it was in Cedar Rapids. I like the thought of moving guys up with familiar faces though. Good idea.......
  19. We are roughly quarter of the way thru the season (34 games in). If Walker were to stay in Cedar Rapids and produce as he is, for an entire season: 36 HRs / 40 DBLs / 16 Triples / 160 RBI / .300+ BA / 348 Total Bases / (adjusted stats for full season x4) - Would he still be the 4th - 5th best prospect on this team in your opinion? Let's just say: we said his current stats were for a third of the season and adjusted them accordingly (x3) = 27 HRs / 30 DBLs / 12 Triples / 120 RBI / .300+ BA / 261 Total Bases - Would he still be the 4th or 5th best prospect on this team in your opinion? Just Curious Miguel Sano in 2012: 28 HRs / 28 DBLs / 4 Triples / 100 RBI / .258 BA / 238 Total Bases - Granted Sano is 1 1/2 years younger than Walker. So I ask again does that make Walker still the 4th to 5th ranked prospect on his team when you compare seasons?
  20. I agree with Seth. No rush and he needs to just stay consistent until it's time. My question is who will they move throughout system? Especially with the draft approaching prior to all star games. How many drafted position players will shift the balance of the minor league system?
  21. There are just so many quality hitting prospects on that Cedar Rapids team. My favorite as always, and pre-season surprise / sleeper prospect is still Adam Brett Walker: Midwest League Rankings: Home Runs = 1st with 9 RBIs = 1st with 40 (by 9) Slug% = 1st with .664% (by .58 points) Total Bases = 1st with 87 (by 11) Runs = 2nd with 26 Triples - 2nd with 4 OPS % = 4th with 1.033 To go along with a .321 BA These are the kind of numbers he put up in college (@ Jacksonville University). He put up these numbers against the Florida States - Oklahomas - Florida's - etc. - (Top Competition) as well. Great vision by the Twins brass in trusting their gut. They drafted a first round talent in the 3rd round. Can't wait to see him join Ft. Myers this year. Will be 21 years old all season too. Young & Beastly
  22. Adam Brett Walker II - Leads the Kernels & Midwest League in Home Runs (7) & RBIs (33). But did you know that he leads the Kernels in Triples (4) and is 2nd in the Midwest League in Triples as well. A Complete Athlete!! Also batting .314 as of May 10th. 31 Games: 7 HRs / 4 Triples / 8 Doubles / 33 RBI - If you multilpy for full season (x4) .... 124 Games: 28 HRs / 16 Triples / 32 Doubles / 132 RBI - Now thats a season! Keep Grinding Kid
  23. This is the kind of thinking that got people Correia bashing this winter. I want to say for the record: I liked the signing and told everyone to give him a chance. 12 wins last year is 12 wins. NL vs AL hitting = hogwash ---- Either you can pitch and eat up innings or you can't. Correia does just that. That extra hitter in the DH doesn't seem to be that big of a difference does it? AL Fans . Let's enjoy the now and just say you might have been wrong . ENJOY the NOW --- and CHEER for CORREIA
  24. I believe that our coaches at the minor league level are excellent and can do wonders with Manaea (Meyer is now considered the future ACE). He had flaws coming out of college and went in 20th+ round. Either you have the STUFF or you don't. He may just need better mentoring moving forward. Manaea will be that ACE for us from the left side in a few years. Can't deny what he's done in the past. It's there - Just get it back. Worth the risk. Anderson would be great back up plan, if not better in long term. Meyer Manaea (he's at least a #4 or #5) Gipson Diamond Berrios Wow.........
