  1. Reason for concern yes - Big reason for concern no. I asked this question earlier - Who are you comparing his 20% K rate to? I need comps.......... Everybody talks about him being a college player and being old for Low A. I believe he was the second youngest college player in the entire 2012 draft. Let's start putting things in perspective folks. Every prospect doesn't need to be 22 years old when you bring him up to the MLB level. To the previous statement that he doesn't show the ability to improve: - I believe that he has shown the ability to work out kinks (Ex: 30% to 20% K Rate). His contact rate has improved as well. Great - No, But much better Yes. How much more does a player need to improve - to get some love? I want comps........... How is he not worthy of praise? League MVP - Top HR & RBI Leader - 2nd in League in Runs scored. Can't score unless you get on base - Intangibles matter too. The only reason for a concern about Walks (BB) is that you want him to improve his ability to help his teams score runs. Definitely would help! But............ when you lead your team every year in Runs scored and your team has the best record in their respective league every year. In this case - Best record in Minor leagues - What more do you want before you give him some credit? Give me comps as to who you know better? I guarentee they are Very High Prospects on their respective teams (as should he be).
  2. According to Fangraphs Statistics for Adam Brett Walker - He improved his K% rate from 30.2% (2012) to 20.8% (2013). Are you telling me that 20.8% is high for a slugger - even at Low A? I don't think so. That does not reflect huge contact issues. Work to be done - YES - "Huge" contact issues - No. Who in the world are you comparing him to? AdamBrettWalkerFangraphStats
  3. I believe Cano is going back too, but doesn't hurt to give the Yankees some alternatives. Pineda is a reach, but probably has better upside than Worley or May. Could be a great 2 or 3 if he can stay healthy. That can be said about every pitcher though. They are all one pitch away from.......... (Knock on wood)
  4. See some of the prospects you have written about in the Kernels Season Game Highlights [Polanco, Kepler, Walker, Goodrum, Harrison, Lee, Berrios, Melotakis, DJ HIcks, JD Williams, Duffy, Murphy, etc. ] KernelsHighlightsABW and KernelsPartyattheParkTeam/GameHIghlights
  5. 1) Buxton 2) Sano 3) Meyer 4) Rosario 5) Stewart 6) Pinto 7) Walker 8) Polanco 9) Berrios 10) Thorpe 11) May 12) Santana 13) Kepler 14) Harrison 15) Brett Lee (sleeper) 16) Jorge 17) Gonsalves 18) Rogers 19) Vargas 20) Melotakis
  6. Walker struck out at a 20% rate, which is great for a guy who led the league in HRs and RBIs. How many Top Prospects (nationally) can say they had a K rate of 20% or lower and led the league in HRs and RBI? I agree that he needs to take more walks (no arguement). That said however: Despite his low walk rate - He was on base enough to rank second in the entire league in runs scored. That means he scored more than Polanco, Harirson, & Goodrum - all of whom had higher OBP. That's not knocking those 3 (all great players) , but just signifying that your wants for Walker are based on hear say - not results from the here and now. Isn't the concern for a higher OBP to score more runs as a team. He seems to be doing his share of scoring & driving in runs, while also dropping his K rate over 10% in 1 season. I find more room for optimism than doubt if you ask me. Just saying ..
  7. Or throw in Willingham or Doumit too?
  8. The Yankees might be losing thier best player in Robinson Cano. That being said: They have no second basemen in their minor league system who are worthy of even playing 2nd base at the MLB level. Why not trade for Michael Pineda and give up one of our stud 2nd basemen and another prospect or prospects for a potential top pitcher? Does this sound possible? The Yankees can always pay for Top pitching to supplement this season and beyond. Not as easy to find a stud second baseman and we have 2-3. Thoughts..................
  9. No way Polanco rises above Stewart. The same way Rosario will never be number #1. A position player has to have some type of Power tool to make it to number #1 no matter how talented they may be. The rankers would rather put a Pitcher there before they would do that. If a team has a talented non power threat at number #1 - their farm system is not considered in high regards. My opinion. Harrison has too nice of a swing and is too young to fall off that quickly. The tools are there to deserve at least 2 more years on list. As far as Walker is concerned - His Power tool is too outstanding to drop that far. He has shown it works in games and would also deserve at least 2 more years to convince the Twins it was a fluke. Tools prevent those type of drop offs and Major Tools (Power; Defense; Speed; etc.) definitely prevent those type of drop offs. There is always the "We can fix it" menality when it comes to Major Tools (70-80 scale). Besides - If it aint broke don't fix it
  10. I would like to know who you think will be in Ft. Myers this Spring as part of the Miracle (from your 50 top prospects). 1) Who moves up from CR and 2) who stays from the Miracle and 3) Who by passes CR from the 2013 draft?
  11. AdamBrettWalkerKernelsHighlights youtube The first short clip is an advertisement for the Kernels (be patient) and then there are 29 short highlight clips (15 - 30 seconds each) of Adam Brett Walker at Cedar Rapids home games only. It played on my laptop, but didn't play on my ipad for some reason. I think this series of clips would give everyone a real idea of what Walker brings to the organization in terms of potential.
  12. Truly surprised by your selection of Rogers at 63. He just gets results as a pitcher and is a Lefty who throws 90. Why so low on your list?
  13. Adam Brett Walker wins Topps/MWL Player of the Year | Cedar Rapids Kernels News Adam Brett Walker - Topps Midwest League Player of the Year
  14. Good stuff Seth. I think your list (50 thru 6) is hard to argue with. I love the selection of Adam Brett Walker as the Topps Midwest League "Player of the Year". Although Buxton surely deserved Top Prospect of the Year in the MWL - It was my opinion that Walker deserved the MVP award given by the league itself. He played nearly twice as many games (129 to 68) as Buxton in the MWL league and helped Cedar Rapids to a better second half record than their first half record. He also helped CR to the best record in all of Minor League baseball. He just turned 22 and has a bright future ahead of him. I also like the fact that so many of my Cedar Rapids kids are represented on your list. Which of the Cedar Rapids players from throughout the year do you think will start together in Fort Myers next spring? Which of them also have a legitimate chance to move up to AA sometime next year?
  15. Gotta Love My Sleeper Adam Brett Walker wins Topps/MWL Player of the Year | Cedar Rapids Kernels News Midwest League Player of the Year Well deserved
  16. Top 5 not Top 6 I like your order thus far Seth. I think Pinto might be a Top 10 prospect as well though. Hard to find Catchers who can hit that well.

  18. A list of 2013 Minor League All Stars who are also Cape Cod Alumn Drafting at the college level not all bad............ http://www.rightfieldfog.com/?p=3135
  19. The below list is from the Twins 2013 Minor League All Stars. The question is: If the 2013 statistical numbers of the MiLB players on this list were projected to possible similar numbers in 2016 @ the MLB level - Would the Twins be in the World Series? Take into account that the MiLB players are probably 20 - 30+ games short of an official MLB season as it pertains to numbers. CF Byron Buxton SS Jorge Polanco 2B Eddie Rosario 3B Miguel Sano DH Chris Colabello C Josmil Pinto 1B Dalton Hicks RF Adam Walker LF JD Williams LH SP - Taylor Rogers RH SP - Alex Meyer LH RP - Edgar Ibarra RH RP - Zach Jones Closer - Tyler Jones Add in what ever extra players you want to make (26) and tell me if its probable? http://twinsdaily.com/2350-2013-twins-minor-league-all-star-team.html
  20. I'm curious as to what the Twins Daily Writers think of the highlight Homeruns? Mistake Hitter or Talent?
  21. It really was a Bomb, but I thought the HR on July 15th in which the LF never moved was possibly even longer. Even if it wasn't - I thought it hilarious how the entire defense never took one step during the entire play. He then hit another HR in that game in which the ball is seen being run over by a car as it hits the street 50 feet outside the stadium. Effortless swing on Fastballs - Curveballs - Sliders - Yet Powerful
  22. Good article by Conor Glassey. Good stuff
  23. Do and would you feel that way if Walker had a better K% than Harrison? Or is it simply OBP? You talked about plate discipline. Not balls in play right?
  24. I just saw a youtube highlight video of Adam Brett Walker with the Kernels. The first short clip is an advertisement for the Kernels (be patient) and then there are 27 or 29 short highlight clips (15 - 30 seconds each) from just the Kernels home games in CR. He truly does have incredible power. Each HR must have been over 400 feet. Must see TV. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=adam+brett+walker+kernel+highlights&oq=adam+brett+walker+kernel+highlights&gs_l=youtube.12...2822.13731.0.16116.35.28.0.7.7.0.227.2607.16j10j1.27.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.617kUQFl_FQ
