  1. This is Jonathon Mayo's updated list from MLB.com Most people on this site respect Mayo's views and use his opinions as (somewhat) law. (Not that I agree with his opinons and/or list). He is a MLB insider who gets first hand info from GMs and other front office people. All I'm saying is it makes you wonder what he really knows?
  2. How does Walker drop out of the Twins Prospect Rankings? Leads the Midwest League or Top 3 Ranking in: HRs / RBIs / Slg% / OPS% / TBs / & Runs. Walker gets jumped over by this years 3rd rounder who is only 2 months younger (Turner) and in Rookie ball. He is the 7th ranked guy on his own on team? and still behind 2 guys who have yet to pitch this season (Bard & Chargois)? Am I the only one who finds this just wrong? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/news/prospects/index.jsp?c_id=min

  4. Based on his dropping out of the New Twins Prospect Pipeline Rankings - The Twins think like you do too. (SD Buhr) This years 3rd round pick (Turner) has bypassed last years 3rd round pick (Walker). How does a guy who leads or ranks Top 3 in the league in HRs / RBIs / TBs / Runs / Slug% / & OPS% get jumped over by a guy who is only 2 months younger and still in rookie ball. Help me understand????????????????????????? Teammates & Position Players Ranked ahead of Walker: Harrison 22.7% (K Rate) / .210 ISO Goodrum 22.4% (K Rate) / .097 ISO Kepler 19.7% (K Rate) / .184 ISO Polanco 11% (K Rate) / .143 ISO Walker 22.3% (K Rate) / .267 ISO Not only did he not get promoted this season, Walker got demoted on his Teams Prospect List for his exceptional season. Am I the only one who finds this hard to understand? MLBPipeline.com | MLB Prospect Central | twinsbaseball.com: News
  5. I agree he pulls too much and is something he will have to work on. That being said: If anyone followed his college career - Half of his HRs were to the opposite field. (That is when he was considered one of the top power hitters in college baseball) AGREED - although his K Rate has improved drastically. Note however - Walker hits the elite pitching prospects in the league probably better than he does the marginal pitcher. Elite players produce.
  6. If we have to wait until the MLB team gets on the winning track, to be enthusiastic - It might be 2015? I'd rather get excited about the up and coming. Not like I can't handle disappointment if the prospects don't meet expectations. Been there Done that
  7. He definitely has things to work on. I am, however, impressed by his improved K rate (30% to 22%). That's what the minors is all about. Improving at each level and making adjustments. He has shown that he can make some adjustments and only needs to continue improving as he moves up the system. If he can lead the league in HRs at each level like he's shown and improve his K rate along the way like he's shown - Why not get Enthusiastic?
  8. Although I believe that there are times, players should be moved quickly as college draftees - Walker was one of the youngest college players in last years draft. If you are at age average for a league - there is no way you can be too old or experienced for that league (by definition of "average"). He will make it to the MLB at 24 if he progresses as is (A / A+ / AA / MLB): Does KLaw consider that damaged goods or too old to make your debut. KLaw is stuck in his categorical mind set of judging generalities. "This is how things should be done". GM's judge based on what they see from each player and how that particular player fits into thier long term goals. Although I want Walker to move up as well - I respect their plan. He's dominating and obviously learning at a productive pace. His K Rate is 22%. How is that too high at any level for a HR hitter?
  9. ABW's HRs against the Eastern Division in 2nd Half: Dayton Dragons Guillion #19 prospect in (Reds) System Travieso #5 prospect in (Reds) System Bowling Green Speer (Rays) Spann (Rays) Garton (Rays) Lake County Sisco #17 prospect in (Clevelands) System Brown Fort Wayne Ross (1st Rounder) #15 prospect in (Padres) System Weikel (Supplemental Rd) #11 prospect *He also hit a HR against All Star and former Kernel Ryan Crowley (current Bees) for the 2nd time this year (2nd Half) *He also broke up Jeff Ames 23 scoreless inning streak with a Double He has done well against the better pitchers on opposing teams. That's what's important to me. 6 of those 12 - 2nd Half HRs have come against opposing teams Top Pitching Prospects as well. Just saying............................
  10. I would agree with that view point if I thought that the Eastern Division scouting departments weren't aware of the Kernel players. There were Eastern Division teams that put on shifts for Dalton Hicks which indicates they had a legitimate scouting report as to how to pitch our players. Peoria put a shift on for Gonzo tonight and this was his first game against them. Scouting reports are important, but Pitchers have to still hit there spots (1st time around or second time around).
  11. 3 Years from Now: The Twins will lead the American League in HRs and RBIs and send 4 people to the All Star game. I said to have faithand that Correia wouldn't suck and would adapt to AL enough to eat up innings and (I was right). Never said he would be star, but he definitely was worth the money. Now I'm saying we (Twins) will be a vastly improved team in 2016 (Have Faith). YOUNG GUNS on the WAY
  12. Great read by the way.........
  13. The addition of Murphy, Kepler, and Licon to the position player roster has proven to be a great move. They are all gritty players who know how to play the game the right way (winners). The Kernels also had some players not promoted who were pretty damn good as well. Youth (age) was probably a key factor in keeping them in CR as well as possible position blockage ahead of them. Can't wait to see how Palanco; Harrison; Walker; and Goodrum finish this impressive second half start? Either way - I agree that the fans of Cedar Rapids are probably glad they still have some familiar faces to cheer on, throughout the season. The pitchers have been pretty solid as well. Hope to see some of the other Top pitching draft choices join the club soon too. Although that would mean somebody has got to go (release / promoted / demoted).
  14. 88 RBI in 91 Games is incredible production. 22 HRs isn't bad either. Walker at 21.6 years old in the Midwest League (A). He was projected as a possible 1st rounder at one point in the 2012 draft. He slipped for contact concerns. If the Twins would have taken him in the supplemental round that year and he was producing as he is now - Would he be a Top 10 prospect in the system following this year? or is it his draft round (3rd) concerns that continues to be a red flag?
  15. The Kernels just keep on rolling. Will some of the Top College draftees move up to CR as they reach playoff time - If E'Town is struggling?
  16. 3 Words "Adam Brett Walker" The man is on fire. Can he get 100 RBI before August?
  17. Is Walker the 11th best prospect on his own team? Where would you rank him amongst the below list? Why or Why Not? That being said: Where would you rank Dalton Hicks and his 80+ RBI's? The following players would have or have already played in Cedar Rapids this year: PROSPECT RANKINGS on TWINS SITE - MLBPipeline.com | MLB Prospect Central | twinsbaseball.com: News 1. Byron Buxton (2nd) - 2. Jose Berrios (7th) - 3. Max Kepler (8th) - 4. J.T. Chargois (9th) - 5. Luke Bard (11th) - 6. Travis Harrison (12th) - 7. Mason Melotakis (14th) - 8. Hudson Boyd (15th) - 9. Niko Goodrum (16th) - 10. Jorge Polanco (17th) - 11. Adam Brett Walker (18th) 12. Dalton Hicks (NR)
  18. Cedar Rapids wins 2-1 behind great pitching (Melotakis / Hulbert) and 2 Run HR by Adam Brett Walker II. Can Walker win Midwest League Player of the Week 4X? For the Week: 5 HR / 9 RBI / 5 Runs / 1 DBL / .310 BA (6 games) Team won 5 of 6 He won last week and only had 4 HRs
  19. Adam Brett Walker II and Jonathan Murphy played next to each other in the OF @ Jacksonville University (FL) but came up short in terms of an ASUN title. The duo is definitely doing thier part to lead the CR Kernels to a second half divisional title. Murphy is also an exceptional outfielder (possibly best) according to manager Jake Mauer. Murphy .350+ BA Walker 21 HRs and 85 RBI
  20. Adam Brett Walker II and Jonathan Murphy played next to each other in the OF @ Jacksonville University (FL) but came up short in terms of an ASUN title. 21. Oh yeah - I read that Walker was 40 for 41 in stolen bases in College and is 100% as a professional. He can always repeat High A again next year.
  22. I do understand that promotions sometimes call for untimely movement. That beings said: Walker leads the MW League or is in Top 3 of the league in: *Home Runs 1st (20) - leads by 5 HRs *RBI's 1st (83) - leads by 12 (with Hicks gone) *Slug% 1st (.543) *Total Bases 2nd *OPS% 3rd (with players still in league) *Runs 3rd (with players still in league) What does Walker have to do to "dominate that much" in your mind? I agree he has things to work on as do all prospects, but the above stat line is more than impressive in my mind and justifies some possible re shuffling. He is on pace for 25+ HRs and 100+ RBI. How many prospects in the entire minor leagues will have those stats by years end?
  23. Don't count Hicks short. All he has done is lead "All of minor league baseball in RBIs"!!! Production is production no matter what round you were drafted. He is a .300 hitter and has had success at every level he has played. Judge his results until they don't work for you. Right now he is a steal and deserves every opportunity to be "a" guy in the prospect race.
  24. Makes good sense what you wrote. Plus Kvasnicka is a 1st rounder and the Twins probably want to see what he has left in his tank (even @ 24 in A ball / 25 in December). He is beginning to play well lately. I like your points though.
  25. I"m reaching in my comparisons to Braun and Hamilton - but my point is statistically he is probably where the Twins want him to be. Kind of hard to think they expect much more. I think a 22% strike out rate for a power hitter is probably pretty good and better than most MLB Power Stars. Everybody needs command of the strike zone. What makes you say Walkers discipline is so bad to warrant staying in CR. Hicks led the team in K's (Just saying) . I need more remedial reasoning.......................
