1. Chris Adnderson beat ECU 3-2 Friday night. ECU scored on a bunt play with runner on third and 2 outs. Only 5 Ks tonight. He was 2nd in country before game and now has 50 Ks in 38 2/3 innings with a 1.16 ERA. Still my sleeper - My apologies - Back to the tall lefty..................................How did Windle do following his No No? What was final score?
2. I heard games started yesterday. Does anyone have a schedule for the minor league games? Those are the games I would like to see if and when I make it down to Ft. Myers. Appreciate any help with planning my daily schedule down there.
3. I heard they started playing Minor League games yesterday vs the Sox. Why is there NO SCHEDULE POSTED???or updates?
4. How do they function? Do they decide if they are playing randomly verse other teams? How do fans get to plan for seeing minor league games? Don't games start this week? How far will I have to travel if going to away games? etc. etc.? Why so late when other teams are having their games posted? ASTROS / BRAVES / NATIONALS / TIGERS http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2013/2/22/4017944/astros-minor-league-spring-training-2013-reporting-dates-and-schedule

6. thrylos98;89276 - Really? Keep what up? Have you checked his numbers in college? If not, they are here. 4.50 ERA, 88 IP, 40 BB, 69 K, 1.5 WHIP in College. For me these are like 10th-15th round numbers. Maybe. These are Appel's numbers his first 3 seasons at Stanford - If your talking soley numbers - They don't scream 1st pick in the draft? 2-1, 5.92ERA, 38.0 IP, 26K, 19 BB, .295 opp/avg Freshman 6-7, 3.02ERA, 110.1 IP, 86 K, 29BB, .277 opp/avg Sophomore 10-2, 2.56 ERA, 123.0 IP, 130 K, 30 BB, .213 opp/avg Junior Anderson's Freshmen and Junior year numbers: 4-2, 3.91 ERA, 50.2 IP, 39 K, 34 BB, .217 opp/avg Freshman (All American as well) Bad Sophomore season statistically on a terrible team and as an everyday player (DH / 1B) 2-1, 0.87 ERA, 31.0 IP, 4 5 K, 5 BB, .139 opp/avg Junior (thru 4 games) Projectability and Pitchability - Bottom Line when it comes to Drafting Pitchers - He has it. Already drafted once out of high school.
7. I agree with your assessment [2 for 1 philosophy this year] - If he continues on same path?
8. As you use Garza as a Comp - Also know that Anderson's pitching coach was also Matt Garza's pitchig coach in college as well (Tim Montez). I looked up Montez and he also coached Cliff Lee - Doug Fister - Barry Zito - Russ Ortiz (retired) and current Twin minor leaguer Matt Tomshaw. There is something to say about each of these guys - They ALL know how to pitch and don't soley rely on thier velocity and arms. They all have multiple pitches in their arsonel. And you should know, that being rated 15th as a college prospect doesn't guarentee you first round money. With so many H.S. players being drafted in the 1st round - 15th could mean being drafted 35th or higher for a college player. Chris Beck was rated extremely high after Cape and dropped big time. Zimmer actually moved way up in terms of his college prospect ranking and was drafted as the 3rd college player selected. I'm not ready to sell our 5th pick either, but I'm getting awfully tempted based on his pitching coach's track record and Mr. Anderson's (Matrix Like) performances.
9. Food for thought: Kyle Zimmer was listed as a late 20+ pick in the first round during most February 2012 Mock Drafts. He eventually went #5 overall by Royals. Somebody is going to make a late push for an early pick selection. I'm feeling Chris Anderson right now as my possible big leap selection. Plenty of season left however.
10. Baseball America had Chris Anderson's weekend game against UCF as the #1 Marquee Mound Showdown in the country yesterday. Chris pitched against another Top Prospect in Ben Lively (LHP). BaseballAmerica.com: College: Weekend Preview: March 8-10 Chris is moving up like Kyle Zimmer did in last years draft. Zimmer became an eventual #5 pick in the first round by the Royals. Start counting him out - right now - as that second round option. He won't be there. I'd rather have a home town kid who probably always wanted to be a Twin, as opposed to an Appel who has shown to be money oriented and might jet for the west coast (free agency) as soon as his opportunity presents itself. Chris is our next Joe Mauer and has that Roger Clemens will to win on the mound. Not rushing to judgement with first round pick yet, but keep him in your radar................................................. maybeeee...........
11. Hey Nick: "Sano's prodigious frame paled in comparison to fellow bopper Kennys Vargas, who is an inch or two taller and has a sizable weight advantage on the Twins' top prospect" What are the sizes of Sano and Vargas - Height and Weight (estimate)? Are they still the biggest position players in camp or have others caught up? For example: How big are Kepler; DJ Hicks; Adam Walker; & Rory Rhodes since last year?
12. I like your assessment as to who the key players are and who might be the odd men out. I see Oswaldo a little different because I see him as the best hitter in the system, which outweights most other tools for me. I think his hits tool is that good. Kepler is similar to Oswaldo potentially, but not quite the hitter to me (So he's out or 3rd OFer). Hicks is Buxton without the power potential (So he's out & a quality trade piece). Walker although not the athlete of Benson; Roberts; Mastro; or even HIcks, has the most power potential desired for a corner outfielder in the system. He like Oswaldo is serviceable in OF too. 1 gold glover and plenty of runs and rbi's amongst the three. So many variables to choose from. Hate to be TR in 3 years, but great problem to have. I did forget Morales. I find him as an interesting fit as well. Wow......
13. If everyone performs as expected (maximizes potential), who will be the odd men out in 3 years? There will be no need for 8+ outfielders. Which guys have the max tools to solidify a roster spot in 2016? HIcks / Oswaldo / Mastroianni / Kepler / Buxton / Benson / Walker / Jimenez / Rodriguez / Roberts / JD Williams / Ortiz / Proctor? Which 4 do you keep based on output & production based on maximized tools? Which 4 or 5 do you trade for maximized return?
14. With Roberts out of service for a while - Do you see the Twins promoting one of the Low A guys (Kepler / Walker / Jimenez) and sending them back down (Low A) when Roberts is ready (just for a feel of the level)? They did that with Rory Rhodes last year. He was demoted to Elizabethton from Beloit and started Red hot for E'Town.
15. He has been mentioned both ways throughout his young career: Adam Brett Walker II - has never hit under .300 in (College / Jacksonville University nor Summer League / Licking County Settlers) when using 3 names. He actually hit over .400 one year when using the 3 names and was a Golden Spike Semi Finalist. Adam Walker - (however) has hit at or under .250 when using only 2 names (in the Cape / Harbor Hawks & Appy League / E'Town Twins). Although he still won 2 championships using 2 names, let's go back to Adam Brett Walker II and dominate again - Sounds better and names do matter..........................
16. When is the Minor League Spring Training Schedule for games being released: It would be nice to plan ahead to see those game (home and away), as opposed to showing up and hoping they are playing. I'm more excited about seeing minor league games during spring training. Does anybody know when & who they play this spring?
17. My Bad on the size and round. Bottom line is he made the right choice and should go very high this June. He has improved each year.
18. Jacksonville takes a 5-3 win over TCU | TCU 360 TCU article mentioning Anderson "Jacksonville starter Chris Anderson pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits and walking one. He struck out 13 Horned Frogs. TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle said Wednesday he thought Anderson might be the hardest thrower the team has seen this season."
19. Anderson had 13 K's yesterday vs TCU and threw 138 pitches. At 6'5 - 230 lbs. He is showing MLB scouts that his frame is built for durability. [1.17 ERA / 35 K's / 4 BB's this season] I heard teams didn't know whether to draft him (Anderson) as a pitcher or position player when he came out of high school - and that's part of why he slipped to 20th round. He hit .437 in high school with 6 HRs.
20. Does anybody know when the minor league spring training schedule is released? I was hoping to come down to Ft. Myers and see some of the lower prospects play. I can't plan my days if I don't know thier schedules? Best week with most home games, etc.?

22. I'd rather have Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, MN) via Jacksonville University. He was a 20th round pick out of high school and has stepped his game up this year as a proven strikeout pitcher. He was also named Mr. Baseball, Gatorade Player of the Year, and Louisville Slugger Player of the Year for the state of Minnesota in 2010. Hometown Product - He is my 2nd Round Player to Watch for Twins He has a 1.29 ERA and 22 Strikeouts in 14 innings to begin his junior season. 6'4 / 225 lbs

23. Sano is one big dude. Is he the biggest position prospect in the Twins minor league organization? He has to be the most athletic big man in the organization. Although not a prospect - I believe even Willingham is not as athletic as Sano in my opinion.
24. Oh yeah Seth - I don't see Buxton dropping to lower than 2 on anybodies board in 2014. Prospect list are built based on Tools and this kid blows away everyone in his path. His upside won't be tarnished in one season.
25. I like Vargas and Walker to make the list over May and Harrison. May should be at the MLB level by 2014 and Vargas and Walker have been run producers at every level they've played. I'm into guys who fill up the stat sheet (RBIs / HRs / Runs Scored / SLG% / OPS / Etc.). We have prospects who can get on base, now we need guys who have a history of bringing people in. These two will always have high K stats, but I believe they can get them down enough to be major factors (aka Sano) as they move thru system. I like Harrison, but I think he ends up at first base with Vargas being as / more productive with his stat line. Vargas can serve as a productive DH if 1st base was occupied. Walker is more athletic (Harrison), which brings greater versatility moving forward. He was also a first team All American at 1st Base in college (5 errors in a season / not bad) during his sophomore season. Polanco and Kepler belong right where you have them. They both have star potential.
