  1. [Walker, in particular, has some remedial things to work on] Just comparing Stats with some of the best in game: I always thought Walker was a mixture of both players. Power and Athletic Adam Brett Walker II K% 22.1% ISO .258 BABIP .316 OBP .332 SLG% .540 BA .282 wOBA .384 wRC+ 136 Ryan Braun K% 21.2 ISO .203 BABIP .363 OBP .380 SLG% .507 BA .304 wOBA .375 wRC+ 139 Josh Hamilton (2012) K% 25.5 ISO ..292 BABIP .320 OBP .354 SLG% .577 BA .285 wOBA .387 wRC+ 140 I'm just saying (K Rate way down) and he compares well with some of the best in the game at the stage he's at RIGHT now. Production is Production
  2. The question of the day becomes - Who will be the new 1st baseman in Cedar Rapids on a regular basis? *Kepler (that would waist his OF growth) *Goodrum (He needs reps at SS / 3B / & 2B) *Walker (College 2nd Team All American at 1B - But would waist his athleticism) I hope they don't go 1st Base by committee Do I see a Rory Rhodes sighting?
  3. Maybe Walker is too young to move at 21 years old? The other guys (promoted) ranged from 22 to 24 years old. Maybe the Twins have a plan and want Walker to move slowly through each phase. Regardles to whether he is tearing it up on the field (3 Player of the Week honors in the MWL). That's crazy considering they have almost 50 games left. He even started the first day of this week off with 2 HRs in 1 game. Walker just needs to keep his head up and continue to dominate until they feel fit to move him. Stay in Beast Mode
  4. Maybe he is too young for the move. Walker is still 21 years old and will be so until way after the season and instructional season are over. The other 4 guys however are: Gruever 24 Jones 23 Hicks 23 Williams 22 Maybe the Twins feel they don't need to rush Walker at 21? Just saying................. and I agree Buxton is Buxton (19). He is the exception and not the rule. I thought for sure Walker would go, but then started to think about the Twins as a whole. They prefer safe as opposed to sorry.
  5. Congrats to Adam Brett Walker II for being named MWL Player of the Week (July 8th - 14th) for the 3rd time this season. He celebrated by hitting 2 HRs today to start of the next week (July 15th - 21st). His 79 RBI are 2nd most in complete minor leagues next to teammate Dalton Hicks. GO Cedar Rapids
  6. Don't forget Adam Brett Walker II - High Upside starting to come into play
  7. WHO WOULD WIN? I'd love to see a HR derby between some of the Twins Top Prospects at Spring Training or upcoming Instructionals: I'm not sold that Sano runs away with it - I have my favorite! Sano Vargas Harrison D. HIcks AB Walker* Colabello
  8. 3 Words: Adam Brett Walker MWL HR Leader (16) again and 75 RBIs with 50+ games left 6 for 17 this week (.352 BA) with 2 DBLs / 3 HRs / 7 Runs / 8 RBI / 4 BBs / 4 Ks OK maybe more than 3 How about the wheels on Tyler Grimes inside the park HR
  9. I agree with Eades and Slegers. Limit thier innings so they can contribute in the playoffs for the Kernels. Maybe even Stewart if he happens to make it to E'Town and E'Town fails to make the playoffs (not likely with coach Smith). The Kernels have solid, but inconsistent pitching. When they are bad - they are bad. I agree with Coach Mauer when he questions thier ability to compete on a daily basis. Too many hitters counts for opposing hitters. Attack the Zone!!! On another note - I saw the Adam Brett Walker HR on Kernels Youtube Highlights and it was a missle. Got out Quick!! He also had three BB's - (Good for him). Announcer during game made it sound like he almost had another HR in his only out of the game. Harrison had 3 BBs as well.
  10. The whole team was a Bust on July 3rd (15K's). Hicks has hit for average this year and I bet most guys would take a player who hits near .300 and leads the league in RBIs. That's not Boom or Bust to me. He has argueably been the most consistent guy in the line up (on a team that leads the league in most offensive categories). Not fast maybe - but no where near a bust at this point in his career. All he does is produce............... Can't call that a Bust
  11. Kernels better come to play tomorrow. They better give Pelfrey some run support and remember that what they did to Estrada (Brewers pitcher on rehab start) can easily happen to them. Time to get out those hitting sticks early and often tomorrow.
  12. Kernels Highlight - fast forward to 2:57 minutes: Sportscast - June 29, 2013 - KGAN-TV CBS 2 Iowa - CBS 2 Local Sports
  13. Walker had a great game tonight. On base all 5 times and scored the winning run in extras. He stole a base and scored both runs in the 2-1 decision. Brett Lee was fantastic and is another guy who puts his team in position to win most nights. I saw Walker on the news highlight and he showed some excellent speed on the Kernels winning run (wild pitch).
  14. Walker is getting better in K Department: Strike out Rates in 2013 Josh Willingham @ 27% Chris Davis @ 26% Miguel Sano @ 26% - Same as 2012 Mike Stanton @ 25% Adam Walker @ 23% Starting to figure it out........... Adam Walker in 2012 @ 30% Would you take any of those above guys if they produced the Runs and RBIs needed to win? I would think yes. Plus Sano and Walker are winners
  15. Walker is 53 for 54 in stolen bases in his collegiate and professional career. That is crazy for a young man @ 6'4 230 lbs. He had another big SB today
  16. I would say that most viewers on this site were pleased with last years draft and the shape of the minor league system. That being said - maybe Ryan and his Scouts do know talent and how to build a franchise from the draft. The Twins problem for the past 30 years is that you can't get Top free agents to come here. Thus the need for a great farm system (which we have) - Have some faith in that portion of the organization at least. Great Draft in my eyes thus far. 1 Potential Ace and some quality upside pieces to fill in the roster down the line.
  17. Great Pick!! This kid was the "Pitcher of the Year" in the Summer League that is considered the best in baseball. A 0.83 ERA in any league is excellent, but in the Cape Cod is exceptional. I defer to the experts. The Twins brass was lights out in last years draft in terms of pitchers. I beleive they might know more than us in terms of potential. PITCHER OF THE YEAR people. PITCHER OF THE YEAR -- Oh yea - he also went 8-1 while pitching for argueably the best team in college baseball in the best conference. Great Pick
  18. What pitcher is leaving CR then? that would give them 14 pitchers? Someone going on DL or leaving?
  19. What are the odds of a team taking 2 kids from Minnesota with their 1st 2 picks andbeing from LA (Dodgers)? Chris Anderson 1st Round Tom Windle 2nd Round
  20. What are the odds of a team taking 2 kids from Minnesota with their 1st 2 picks andbeing from LA (Dodgers)? Chris Anderson 1st Round Tom Windle 2nd Round
  21. I loved the entire draft in 2012. My sleeper is still Adam Brett Walker II to be an impact player at the MLB level. Buxton is Buxton and there are no rivals, but Walker is also more than just power to me: 50 for 51 stolen bases (college and pro) / 12 DBLs / 5 Triples / 10 HRs This kid will has a chance to be special in 2 to 3 more years
  22. Board: 1) Appel 2) Gray 3) Stewart 4) Bryant 5) Ball Plays Out: 1) Colin Moran 2) Mark Appel 3) Domomick Smith 4) J. Gray 5) Bryant Twins select Sean Manaea with 2nd round pick (or) Windle
  23. Does that mean CR will have 3 guys from Milwaukee (Adam Brett Walker II & Tyler Jones & ____ Bernie _______)
  24. Duffy has been the best pitcher on the Kernels staff hands down with Berrios a close second. Congrats to Duffy. If he doesn't make it as a starter (which he has a chance) - he will surely be a solid reliever. Congrats to Soliman. He has pitched well lately as well.
  25. I think your right. He is deserving with his OPS and OB%
