  1. As he should. Maybe higher prospects on team at pitcher - but he is this teams Ace. He should start game one and get Kernels that 1st win on the road. Lee as the table setter in 2 of 3 series. Melo as the key mid-reliever should be lights out this post season. Boer and Gilbert as the key closers. Who knows who else they may bring up by next week [pitchers 2013 draft ]. Lee - Shibuya - Atherton (if needed) for 1st series Atherton or Berrios (game 1 and / or 2) - Sulbaran - Montanez - for second series (Lee possible game 5 starter) Lee - Shibuya - Atherton - Berrios - (Sulbaran game 5 if needed) for championship series
  2. Tough loss for the Kernels and Hudson Boyd. He pitched a solid game. Adam Brett Walker was 3-4 with his 31st double. His speed is underrated - He went 1st to 3rd on a wild pitch. That is impressive. I hope the Kernels start a new win streak with this home series this weekend. They have a shot at some attendance records if they keep winning.
  3. I agree with Buxton and Sano being premier players and thier accomplishments are excellent for any level. Walker however keeps getting judged as if he was 23 or 24 years old. He is 21 years old. That could put him in the league at age 24 if he progresses at current pace. I just love how he sits at the top of so many categories in the MWL on a team that lost so many players to promotions.
  4. My arguement for Adam Brett Walker II is that although he didn't play at 2 levels - He did most of his damage after Buxton and Hicks left Cedar Rapids. He is a huge reason that the CR Kernels are 30 games above .500 and have sported a better record during the second half of the season as opposed to the first half. The Kernels are still loaded but no one would deny that they were more loaded during the 1st half of season. Great season either way. He is ranked in the Midwest League in several categories: 2nd - Runs / 1st - HRs / 1st - RBI / 1st - SLG% / 1st - Total Bases / 3rd - OPS / 62 XBH / Never caught stealing as a pro!! A much improved 21.2% K Rate for a Slugger type player. As good an upside as any one in the system not name Buxton or Sano - based on impact this season and teams winning percentage.
  5. Metro Sports link: Walker cracks the 100-RBI mark in win
  6. Adam Brett Walker II is the first player in the MiLB this season to reach 100 RBI. After his sac fly on Monday - he stands at 103 RBI. The question is: Can he break the CR Kernels Franchise record with 20 games remaining? Where will his potential record setting season rank in terms of Twins prospect performances over the years?
  7. Would love to see Buxton and Walker paired in OF together again. Use both sub AA spots on these two guys. You can always monitor workload with Taxi squad roster fillers. Who cares about any possible failure? Both are strong enough to bounce back and grow from the experience. Congrats to ABW on his 100 RBIs and 26th HR. Walker is Minors' first to century mark | MiLB.com News | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball
  8. I agreed with that thought process for a long time and now have changed my position. Walker is only 21 and will be 22 all of next season. Let him do like Sano and Rasorio did this year (next year) - 1/2 a year at High A and 1/2 a year at AA. He will still be much younger than the guys they have in High A this year. If he produces on his steady pace year in and year out - He will be a 23 year old spring training camp invitee. From there who knows?????????? Big year for the young guy - 25 HRs & 99 RBI with 23 games left. I would love for the Kernels to win the MWL championship. ETown champs last year and MWL champs this year? The Twins are producing a winning mentality at the lower levels that will pay off for the MLB Twins in years to come.
  9. I wrote this on April 2nd. I'm just saying........................
  10. I wrote this in a Twins Daily forum on April 4th. Don't make me into a liar Kernels. Time to get that SWAGGER back.
  11. Walkers pushing the 25+ HR and 100+ RBI statline. Most of that came after Buxton left for Ft. Myers too. Where would that put him in terms of prospect rankings for you @ the end of 2013?
  12. The Kernels picked a bad day to bring thier "C" game. I read Terry Ryan was in Cedar Rapids tonight. Big night tomorrow to remain in first place. 1/2 game up I believe.
  13. Are you kidding me? Top Hitter = Milwaukee born Adam Brett Walker Top Reliever = Milwaukee born Tyler Jones The Twins better start drafting more kids out of the Brew City
  14. Certain foriegn players are "protected" and can't play in the league. Not sure which players are protected? Each team gets 7 spots and a Taxi Squad of players. Must be at AA or above - with 2 exemptions below AA. My List of 7 Twins Players P Alex Wimmers (needs the work) AA P Luke Bard (A+ / AA) I would add several pitchers (2012 draft arms) on the Taxi Squad as extras in case innings get too high for above players. Wouldn't mind seeing Tomshaw as well to see what he really has. 1B Kenny Vargas (possible protected?) AA 2B Eddie Rosario (possible protected?) AA or James Beresford AAA 3B Miguel Sano (possible protected?) AA or C Kyle Knudson AA RF Adam Brett Walker (A) or Mike Kvasnicka (A+) CF Byron Buxton (A+) or LF JD Williams (A+) I would pay to see this lineup together just once. It would give a glimpse of the future for the Twins fans for at least one month . They could get to know each other as well on a personal level.
  15. Regular season ends in a month and AFL Rosters will be announced. Who would you send?

  17. Oh yeah - I forgot about Matt Tomshaw (P) for the Ft. Myer Miracle. He's from JU too. He was an honorable mention for the July Pitcher of the month. Go JU
  18. It will be fun to see Adam Brett Walker (RF) - Jonathan Murphy (CF) of the Kernels and Dan Gulbransen (LF) of the Quad City Bandits play against each other this Saturday. The 3 of them formed the entire outfield for Jacksonville University in 2012. For a small school like (JU / Jacksonville University) - they did a great job of turning out pro prospects. 2 guys on the hitter of the month squad (#5 & #1) for the Twins organization and the guy who was argueably the best hitter of the 3 in Dan Gulbransen for the Astros. Should be fun watching them play against each other for the first time. I read that Walker and Gulbransen were roommates in college too.
  19. I know I'm a huge Adam Brett Walker fan, but am I the only one who finds it amazing that he has 3 years of DI College ball and 2 years of Pro ball under his belt at the young age of 21. He accomplished alot in college as a young player (19 years old) in obtaining [Perfect Game 1st Team All American; NCBWA District Player of the Year; Golden Spike Semi Finalist; & Dick Howser Semi Finalist]. I agree - His Future is Bright
  20. As well as he's playing in CR - I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an invite to instructionals this Fall. Might have to change your wedding plans Mr. Murphy ?
  21. The question is do you stack a couple of teams for the playoffs or trust that the teams you have out there now, can carry you to the Championship. Will guys move up from ETown to CR or Guys move up from CR to Ft. Myers or Guys move up from NB to Rochester? What will happen in the next few weeks? Especially if ETown and NB don't make playoffs?
  22. I'm just trying to get a grip on this plate discipline thing. Are we talking lack of Walks? Are we talking strike outs? He doesn't walk much and I agree with that being concerning. Yet his OPS is best in the league (.881)! His OBP is a quality (.330)! His SLG% is best in the league (.551)! He does strike out at a 22.3% rate, but that is not that bad for a slugger at any level. He improved that from 30% to 22% in one season. Why are people still overly concerned with his plate discipline when he has shown Major improvements in that area? What are you basing this poor plate discipline on? Are you comparing him with other sluggers in the minor leagues or non sluggers?
  23. I'm more concerned with him becoming a great MLB player. If he arrives at 25 and bas a great 10 year career - Beautiful. If a young prospect arrives at age 23 and struggles for a few years and then has a great career - Beautiful. The key is what do you do when you get there? Right now he is dominating at his current level. How many of you can rattle off the age of each MLB All Star when they began thier MLB careers. Guarrentee you will be off by 1 to 2 years on most. Point: No one cares about your age until you turn 30 in the MLB. What matters is production. And Adam Brett Walker is getting it done (Right Now)!!
  24. He is actually at league average (21) and strikes out less than Harrison and Goodrum. Not a "premium position" is the only thing I can understand. His strike out rate is better than Chris Davis (29%) - Willingham (25.8%) - Stanton (26% - & Stanton was 28.5% last year when he was an All Star). A 22% strike out rate is generally not considered alarming for a power hitter who produces at the rate he is. Why are people calling a 21 year old "old" for A ball? By mathematics that puts him in the Show at 24 years old. This years 3rd round pick (Turner) is 21 and will be 22 this year. Thier other Catching draft pick (Garver) is already 22 years old. Oh yeah and they both are in Rookie Ball. Turner Catches and can play defense, but he went in the 3rd round just like Walker (because he had flaws). I love Harrison and Goodrum and believe they both will make it to MLB someday. I just think Walker is visibly the best player on the CR field not named Buxton. IMO
  25. These Rankings are from Jonathon Mayo and on MLB site
