KernelsGuy1's Achievements

  1. Mauer went to Cedar Rapids because there is more media coverage there. Getting exposure for when he goes further up in the system, evidence that he is on track to get to the major league level with the Twins. Does interviews before and after every game, akin to the major league level. Not many minor league managers have that experience.
  2. There's been a quite a bit of discussion over the last week on here and amongst affiliate areas about full-season managerial posts in 2014. I think we could see some changes next year. Overall, there are some pretty good coaching candidates in the Twins system. Like the players, the system is becoming deep with managers and coaches. These projections also stem from the idea that Gene Glynn will be on the Twins or some other MLB bench in 2014. Triple-A Rochester: Jake Mauer Double-A New Britain: Tim Doherty (or maybe Ramon Borrego, who is currently managing the GCL Twins) High-A Fort Myers: Doug Mientkiewicz Single-A Cedar Rapids: Tommy Watkins
  3. Why not? This isn't high school baseball. Joe is in the lineup everyday anyway.
  4. Jairo Rodriguez has been promoted from Cedar Rapids to Triple-A Rochester. And no one on the planet understands why (even if Rochester needed to fill Drew Butera's spot, come on). Rodriguez was 7-for-47 with 4 RBI for the Kernels this season. Played all of 2012 in Beloit.
  5. Caleb Brewer has retired from pro ball. Pitcher Brian Gilbert promoted from Elizabethton to the Kernels. Gilbert is the first pick from this year's draft to move up to Class-A.
  6. Dalton Hicks, J.D. Williams, Steve Gruver, and Tyler Jones all headed to Fort Myers, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Dallas Gallant and Tim Shibuya promoted from Elizabethton to Cedar Rapids. Jairo Rodriguez back to CR from FM. Last roster spot likely to be filled by the Fort Wayne series on Saturday. Huge news.
  7. If the Twins want to line up a manager with the talent that will be arriving at the major league level in 2014-16, etc., there are two clear options within the organization: Doug Mientkiewicz and Jake Mauer. It would be a a leap for both, but Terry Ryan shouldn't put it past himself making the change. Mauer would be more ready, IMO.
  8. Tim Atherton moving in to the Kernels starting rotation beginning Sunday.
  9. Max Kepler hitting 6th and playing LF for the Kernels tonight.
  10. Any idea of who could possibly reach CR this season or we'll see as the summer goes along?
  11. Kernels actually have 5 outfielders right now, including Jeremias Pineda. I'm guessing there will be some roster movement again before next home stand (Tuesday afternoon).
  12. Max Kepler has officially been added to the Kernels roster. Interesting considering no outfielders have been consequently promoted (I still think J.D. Williams gets the call to Ft. Meyers before Buxton, by the way). Also, Josue Montanez has been added to the Kernels starting rotation.
  13. Official release from the Cedar Rapids Ball Club also acknowledges the TWO players on the DL: Peoria scores five in ninth to stun Kernels | Cedar Rapids Kernels News Maybe Hurlbut will be activated. He's still been with the team since being placed on the DL. Mazza has been in EST.
  14. There are two pitchers on the DL (also the only two DL players) on the Kernels roster: Chris Mazza and David Hurlbut. Surely SD Buhr can confirm this. The official roster in the press box the other day also consisted of this information. There are a couple of other names on the roster on kernels.com, but that one is incorrect. Those players have never played this season or have been Kernels.
  15. Jeremy, I have to hold you accountable for this. Have seen some of your tweets as well. Just got bad information or what?
