  1. You have to think that next offseason some of the prospect lists are going to have them 1-2.
  2. I suppose even post-hype John Lamb would be a pipedream? How about Christian Colon...is that feasible?
  3. I would happily take a Sulbaranesque return for Morneau.
  4. I looked it up...26,175 instances of a SP going at least 8.3 innings with no earned runs, and the team lost 750 times. 2.8%.
  5. Hmmm...what percentage of MLB games are lost in which the SP goes at least 8.3 IP with no ER allowed?
  6. Extrapolated over a full season, Albers would have a....0.00 ERA. He would also pitch 275 innings, post a 0.40 WHIP, strike out 63 and walk 16. He likely would be projected to go 33-0, although the Twins could easily lose some of those games.
  7. Is there a "guess the Caroll return" thread? Because Dayton Moore is another GM that I'm happy to have TR working with.
  8. I certainly hope that Dozier keeps this up. That catch he made last night was spectacular. If Rosario keeps coming, they might have a trade possibility in 12 or 16 months.
  9. Love the tweet Stephen! And the performance. Hope the Twins don't bench hhim for three starts for showing up the other 29 starts/complimenting the Twins scouts/draft.
  10. Having spotted the Twins Jose Abreu in a GCL box score last night, I get this now. No wonder the name sounded familiar. Anyhow, what is the old saying? You can never have enough Jose Abreu?
  11. I think Albers should be allowed to try to finish the game tonight. Just my two cents.
  12. I must be living in the past, but the idea of getting Tim Lincecum or Josh Johnson on three year deals for affordable rates seems too good to be true. Sign me up, even if they have struggles in the recent past. Johnson, with the MN connection, seems like the more likely scenario. Both have strong previous track records. Good chance we will see both return to their former success. I'd like to see a Phil Hughes signing, but would like that to not be the Twins only move, but more of a supplementary move. I suppose I am with mike wants wins, though...it seems silly to hope for more than one FA starter...when zero impact arms is what our realistic expectations should be.
  13. I don't doubt that Abreu will probably sign wherever the highest contract appears. The chance of this being Minnesota seems almost certainly less than 1%. Would really love to be surprised, as this would only cost money, but my hopes are extremely low.
  14. I'd like to see him pitch in Bowie at the end of the month. Great to see him back on the mound, I was starting to worry this would be a longer thing.
  15. It's been a few years, but I recall reading some research on the reason 100 pitches has become the new vogue. There was pretty clear evidence that after hitting that count, in general, as you are more fatigued, your mechanics are more likely to break down. It is poor mechanics that lead to injury, when you do something that is slightly off from your repeatable motion. This is very intuitive. And while it would have been great for Albers to get the CGSO, the fact that he issued his first walk and a four-pitch one to boot shows he was tiring and may have been losing his mechanics a bit. Add to that the adrenaline of trying to finish off his major league debut, it is very reasonable to suspect he could have easily tweaked something in the effort to get those last couple outs. Is it likely? No. Was there some sort of guarantee that since he was over 100 pitches his arm was going to explode? Of course not. Could he have finished the game? Undoubtedly, even quite possibly with a shutout. Would it have been fun, and a bit historic? Sure. But I don't think it was a terrible decision. I'm glad to have another player to root for these next couple months. Here's hoping there are a few more chances to debate a 9th-inning hook this year. Let's go AA!
  16. You have to imagine the players love this and a bunch eagerly volunteer. Easily the most entertaining thing to happen with the big club in the past month. (Or past three years?)
  17. Great write-up. In particular, I like the next day's pitching matchup. Walker is having a great season.
  18. At some point, in some thread, in May...I speculated on how long Correia would keep his ERA below 5. He's made it into August, but he's closing fast.
  19. Well, he has value for this year...every start helps the Twins improve their draft position.
  20. Minier was back in the lineup tonight after what appears to be about a week missed with a quad strain. He DHed, and went 1-4, with his sixth homer. His average is now .222, and his triple slash lines are 222/250/485, with 12 of his 22 hits on the year going for extra bases. He has an ugly 26/4 strikeout to walk ratio through 99 ABs on the season. Not a sizzling start for the kid, but not terrible.
  21. I agree with all of the parts of your plan. However, if Gardy is extended, will he be advocating for Sano and Rosario to start next year with the big league club?
  22. Gibson, Deduno and Colabello....and now Arcia again...are my current reasons on the big league club.
  23. I was just lamenting the uprooted firs the other day. Great piece. Haven't they play 105 games, though?
  24. My completely poorly informed list goes like this: Stewart Meyer Gibson Berrios Hendriks May Gonsalves Wimmers Thorpe Baxendale
