  1. The Twins have played 81 games out of 162, and won 43. Employing a bit of number fun, I extrapolate 86 wins on the season. Oh, and Mauer with double-digit homers. 11!1
  2. Pelfrey last five starts: 24.1IP, 8.50 ERA, 2.21WHIP, 4.1K/9. And that's with an 8IP, 1 run effort included.
  3. I probably see it and don't realize it....lil help?
  4. As a general principle, I am not sure this is true. But when it comes to international baseball prospects, I would agree.
  5. Forgive me for posting this without checking out his contract. Signed at $20mm through 2019 and anothe $14mm in 2020....that's pretty tough to swallow. I do feel like catcher and shortstop are the positions the Twins should be looking for long-term solutions at...and they have a deep farm.
  6. Would people want the Twins to trade for him, and if so, what would he cost to get? I would start a package with Arcia and...Tyler Duffey or Taylor Rodgers?
  7. 3.1 bullpen innings by the Twins yesterday, and 1 K. Meanwhile, Wade Davis gets the win for KC. Would have been nice to see Meyer in that game.
  8. Bullpen this year? Man it would have been nice to have Meyer come into the game yesterday. Twins need some help in the pen quick.
  9. Who had the Twins with 42 wins after Santana's suspension was over? Not me. What a nice surprise. Get him in the rotation and move Pelfrey to the pen.
  10. First MLB hits--Buxton triple; Sano infield hit. As expected.
  11. Baseball is a damn hard sport. Here is a guy who absolutely dominates as the best player at his position for years, and now- whether it is a result of concussions, defensive shifts, or just aging-he is working hard and struggling to find a fraction of the zoned-in hitter he was so consistently. He's not old--32 should mean he has plenty of almost-prime left. I think we haven't seen the last of Joe Mauer yet. He is going to be a big contributor on a winning Twins team - or teams - before his contract is up.
  12. As documented in the minor league write-up, Minier was honored in the player of day awards (honorable mention) for his exploits on July 1. Entering the game as a pinch hitter with one out in the bottom of the 9th with Elizabethton down 4-3, runners on 2nd and 3rd, Minier delivered a game-tying single. Unfortunately the runner from second wouldn't score, and Minier would run E-Town out of the inning on a grounder...runner held at third on the throw, but Minier, who was on second, did NOT hold up, and got tagged out needlessly at third. He would more than make up for it four innings later, when he came up with two men aboard in the 13th and delivered his second homerun of the season for the walk off. Couple of big-time hits for the young man.
  13. Trying to figure out the base running gaffe in ETown....2nd and 3rd, one out, ground ball...run doesn't score AND runner on second out at third?
  14. Minier started his season this year with a home run in his first day of play, while playing DH for Elizabethton on Sunday in the second game of a double header. He didn't play in E-town's first four games, and is now DH or 1B, so I'm guessing he has a minor injury he is working back from.
  15. Kerby Camacho is a fantastic awesome baseball name. And look, an Amaurys Minier sighting!
  16. We also will never know how many home runs were thwarted because of pitchers on steroids. Those extra ticks probably robbed Arod and Bonds of a bunch of homers.
  17. Amusing list of choices. I'm going with Greg Maddux, followed by Barry Bonds.
  18. Carlos Gomez...Bryce Harper...Byron Buxton...Andre Agassi.... Players who have a ton of natural talent and absolutely go for it at 100mph on every single play. Early in their career they can't harness that speed. But when they learn to control it, they become stars.
  19. I don't think that means what you think that means.
  20. Why did you say "recall," John? This is his first time up...right?
  21. I know that there was a big deal made about how good May was and how bad June was. Here is a slightly different way of looking at the season: 4-6 5-5 8-2 6-4 7-3 3-7 5-5 (1-1) Let's see if they can string together a few more 6s and 7s....
  22. Would have liked Hughes to finish the game.
  23. This thread about Buxton batting lead off, like FIP and ERA, sucks.
  24. Let's be honest, there is a LOT of death and destruction in Looney Tunes. Also, everything falls faster than an anvil.
