  1. Hmmm, doesn't seem fair to ask for the perfect trade, because from a Twins perspective, a perfect trade would involve a team giving the Twins all of their top prospects for Dozier. For example, my perfect Dozier trade might be JP Crawford and Mark Appel for Dozier. But since Crawford is likely not coming back....how about Appel and Aaron Nola?
  2. Can I just point out that I can't remember the Twins involved in a serious trade drama since...Johan? Terry Ryan simply never was willing to consider trading sell-high guys, let alone build a market for those guys. It really is the dawn of a new era.
  3. "The LA #Dodgers are the most aggressive team in trade talks with the #Twins for 2B Brian Dozier, and have now piqued Minnesota's interest." A rumor, yes...but doesn't that sound like they are willing to offer a player that Minnesota was requiring?
  4. Very much in favor. Here's my suggestion for a high-upside guy: Angel Perdomo, LHP, Blue Jays: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa658084&position=P He started at high A last year, struck out 11+ hitters per inning. Here's the fangraphs writeup last year, when he was the Blue Jays #9 prospect...and he made real strides in 2016, including better walk rates (under 4 per 9): Perdomo’s story is still relatively unchanged: he’s a hard-throwing left-hander with command issues and physical projection left in his 6-foot-6 frame. He continues to pile up strikeouts at lower levels, but the command hasn’t stepped forward yet, and it’s looking more likely it moves him out of the rotation. Both his slider and changeup could be average offerings, but it’s his fastball that’s going to keep him moving forward. There’s interesting upside here in the almost 22-year-old that will start to flesh out more over this season and next. Some big-framed pitchers take a bit longer to control their bodies, but he has a ways to go before looking like a big-league starter.
  5. Are we getting DSpan back? Or...Meyer? Or were you talking about JJ Hardy?
  6. Good, I am looking forward to whoever they pick for the Rule 5. Bet they have already decide who it is.
  7. I know this isn't really too related, but reading that capsule (and wow that was a good move by the Twins), for some reason makes me think Lewis Thorpe is going to be drafted in the Rule 5.
  8. I also assumed that all would be offered arbitration once Plouffe was cut. But isn't the 40-man full, and don't they need to drop one in order to pick up a Rule 5 pick? Also, the Winter Meetings are in DC at the National Harbor, not Houston.
  9. Can you imagine Terry Ryan cutting Plouffe and actively shopping their best sell-high candidate/face of the team, Dozier? It's a new day. I would love to see Dozier get shipped to the Dodgers for a nice package of players. For me, De Leon, Barnes, and either Buehler/Sheffield sounds like a deal. Although I would prefer they sign Jason Castro than count on Barnes.
  10. It's going to be nice to see the Twins start to reap the benefits of having the #1 pick. Do teams ever select more than one player in the Rule 5 draft?
  11. Hopefully there is a '43' linked to this 103 thread.
  12. Sano and Polanco each with matching homers and errors. Game thread for "stave off 100 losses" pub crawl game almost reaches third page...
  13. I don't know, it seems like a fitting way to end this season is on an 8-game win streak to avoid 100 losses, while Atlanta loses their final 8, and sneaks off with the #1 pick in the tiebreak.
  14. I was following the game on gameday, and after Light had thrown something like 13 balls and 2 strikes, and then wild pitches the runners to second and third, I thought to myself, I wonder if a game has ever been lost on a wild pitch intentional pitch? Gameday then froze and it was at least a minute or two before it became clear that is what happened. Anyhow, the two low points of the season for me remain: 1. The Arcia bicycle kick 2. Going ahead in the 15th inning in Washington, having two outs in the bottom of the 15th, and the Nats down to pitchers on their bench, and Oliver Perez come on to pinch hit, (Molitor brings in Tonkin for O'Rourke to face the lefty pitcher Perez), Perez tries to bunt for a hit (with two outs). John Ryan Murphy throws the ball away down the right field line, and the tying run scores from second.
  15. This is pure parenting genius, right there.
  16. Five games up with 11 to play. I think the magic number is 7. If the Twins lose their next 7 games, they would be at a minimum up 5 with 4 games to play. (Atlanta holds the tiebreaker).
  17. If the Twins new GM or POBO can manage to trade two years of Brian Dozier for six years of Jose DeLeon, Austin Barnes, and a lottery pick or two (maybe Grant Holmes?), I would very much be in favor of this trade and hope that s/he does it. Filling a void(s) in the rotation and one behind the plate, while allowing for an out of options youngster to move into 2B full time. This could be a franchise-altering move that wouldn't have even been remotely feasible at the end of July.
  18. If the Twins go 9-9 down the stretch, they will finish 62-100, right? Therefore they need to go 10-8 to avoid 100. I'd vote for 18: Race for #1 pick. 2.5 game lead with 18 to go. Getting the first pick could have a very big impact on the organization.
  19. True story. About those daycare costs. True story.
  20. Was just going to ask the same thing.
  21. Maybe Buxton should have tried to bunt for a hit there?
