  1. Paul Molitor didn't seem to think it would be an issue going forward. He called it "dangerous" for a player as young as Miguel Sano is to be locked into a DH role.http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2015/10/04/twinsights-keeping-miguel-sano-at-dh-could-be-dangerous-paul-molitor-says/
  2. I totally agree. I also don't really see how just giving Sano occasional starts at third will help him improve his fielding in the long run. I think he needs to be penciled in as the everyday third basemen, and I'm sure he will settle in and be fine there.
  3. How is Sano going to improve his fielding if Plouffe is still on the team?
  4. Brian Navaretto throwing out well over 50% of base stealers is extremely impressive and seems near impossible after watching Kurt Suzuki throw out approximately 0% of base stealers over the last two years. And with that arm, Navaretto must almost have a floor of a backup big league catcher, right?
  5. Well hopefully Sam Gibbons figured something out down the stretch this year because it's hard to be too optimistic about a guy who posted a 6.8 K/9 and doesn't really throw all that hard.
  6. Trading Berrios for a number 2 like Sonny Gray would most likely end up being a terrible move. The Twins don't get any benefit from his first 3 years in the majors, and it's a decent bet that a guy who is much more highly regarded than Gray ever was will outproduce him from this point on anyways. I think the only time that it's right to trade for an ace is a situation like the Cole Hamels Rangers trade this year- controlled for four years and the Phillies didn't mind saving some money, so it doesn't cost you a borderline top-10 prospect in return.
  7. I sure didn't think anyone other than Brian Dozier would be team MVP at the All Star break, but congratulations to Miguel Sano on a great second half.
  8. At least their appears to be some talent at RB and WR for next year. Bench Liedner and get Demry Croft some experience.
  9. Kicking a field goal down by 16 in the 4th quarter is always smart.
  10. Even when Mitch Leidner is good... He's still not good. Might be time to try something new.
  11. Tanner English seems to be a guy who would be a solid 4th or 5th outfielder in a few years. I'm interested to see if he can keep up his hitting from the second half of this year next year in Ft. Myers.
  12. I think the Twins should just roll with what they have next year. A bounce-back from Hughes and a full year of Santana and a lot of Berrios should improve on this year's decent numbers. I also really liked watching Tyler Duffey pitch, I'm just worried that "the book is out on him" and his only above average pitch will simply be more takes instead of swings and misses. Hopefully that's not the case though.
  13. I think paying for a guy coming off of a career year and who is going to be 32 is probably not a good idea.
  14. Yeah, Pek's contract looks really bad in hindsight, but I thought it was definitely the right thing to do at the time. He's an easy guy to root for, and I think he will become a good veteran leader for the team.
  15. What are some record predictions? I'll be "optimistic" and say 31-51.
  16. I think the Wolves are going to attempt to trade Pek and/or Dieng. Pek isn't going to be back for quite a while too, and his days as a starter may be over anyways. His contract is pretty much unmoveable, so I think he could give some really solid minutes off the bench since he's shown that his body can't handle big minutes. Towns could probably play PF well, but he's probably best as a really athletic center. The 2 deep looks really good, it's just going to take time to get the young guys more experience.
  17. Go Mets!
  18. From watching the Bulls game and what I've read, Bjelica seems to have a high basketball IQ. If he isn't terrible on defense, he should get some solid playing time. He'll probably eventually start at the 4 when KG gets hurt and if Payne doesn't show some more improvement
  19. Well if the Twins do ever get an ace, I don't know why we should assume it would be someone other than you described- mediocre strikeout numbers and ground balls...yay!
  20. I like the drive and kick possibilities with Rubio to Lavine. He's got a nice enough shot as well as elite quickness to blow past guys closing out on him. I wonder if we're going to see more of Wiggins out near the three point line this year. I like the mid-post game, but I'm curious to see what he can expand to.
  21. I don't think I'd call Sonny Gray an ace. In the 2nd half this year, he had a 3.70 ERA and 6.5 SO/9
  22. No way. A SO/9 of 7.3 last year. He also only posted a 7.3 SO/9 in his entire minor league career. I wouldn't trade Berrios for him straight up, and I surely wouldn't throw in Max Kepler.
  23. He didn't get lucky that Arrieta became a good pitcher, he got lucky that Arrieta became one of the best pitchers in baseball, which no one could have expected. Terry Ryan did make a similar acquisition in Phil Hughes, and he got rewarded with Hughes become a solid starter, he just didn't get lucky by him becoming a Cy Young guy.
  24. Probably not, but they don't have to. I like the back end of the Twins rotation more than the Cubs right now. But after learning the genius of Theo Epstein, he'll probably sign Mike Pelfrey and teach him how to control his splitter, leading to an all star appearance and Cy Young run.
  25. Do you think he would've waived his no trade clause for the Twins though?
