I'd like to see Bazz start for a while at SF to see what he can do in extended minutes. I know he is an awful defender for some reason, but his offensive skill and energy could provide some life to the starting unit.
The Royals signed Ian Kennedy for 5 years $70M. What? A good strikeout rate, but a 4.28 ERA pitching in San Diego last year and giving up 31 HRs gets you $70 million I guess. Plus he costs a draft pick.
I think free agency is going to be huge this offseason. I'm looking at one of Al Horford, Ryan Anderson, Nic Batum, or Luol Deng. Also, one restricted free agent who I am a huge fan of is Terrance Jones, but I doubt Houston will let him get away.
This surprises me too as I didn't really think of him having that strong of an arm from the outfield. That's an interesting point about him being a reliever and a pinch runner. Based on 2014, I thought that he was up there with the best base stealers that I have watched.
i really like Henry Ellenson or Jaylen Brown with the top pick, Hield would be interesting too. A second round target could be the B10's leading scorer and shot blocker Jarrod Uthoff.
It's disappointing the way things played out with Mauer in regards to injuries, but I think the three batting titles as a catcher, the MVP, and the possibility of getting 2500 hits will be enough to get him in.
He's also 5th in assists, 1st in assist/turnover rate, 2nd in steals, with the highest PER of his career. I also can't understand how someone who is so good at so many things is as bad a shooter and finisher as he is, but he's still the team's second best player and probably their most important.
He better be able to stick at catcher, because that's his only chance to make it. He's got decent hitting numbers, but not anywhere close to be able to profile at another position.
I'm a little worried about regression for Duffey, but looking at the minor league numbers, he put up better numbers the higher up the ladder he went. Hopefully that continues. Not sure about Kahrl's Justin Verlander pick though.
I don't understand the doubts about Buxton. The only thing that has slowed him down are somewhat fluke injuries. A career minor league .301/.383/.489 from a high school guy from rural Georgia seems pretty good to me, especially with elite defense and speed. There's a reason he's been a top 3 prospect for years now.
There's about a 95% chance Leidner begins the season as the starter. A little disappointing, but at least it looks like he can be mediocre instead of really bad.
