  1. Brian Dozier has a .197 BABIP so far this year. That should come up some eventually, but he's always been a low BABIP guy in the .260 range. Can any of you recall many other "power" hitters who hit so many weak fly balls and easy grounders when they don't connect for a HR? It's basically all or nothing with Dozier.
  2. Detroit can hit... 2016 AL Central champs.
  3. Wow these offensive performances are rough. Byron Buxton with another 2 strikeouts. Max Kepler is hitting .185. Things are pretty bleak in all things Twins right now.
  4. I actually think Polanco might be an upgrade or at least a wash defensively when compared to Dozier. Brian's defense is on the decline, at least that's what I think, and I think last year's numbers may back that up.
  5. So Nunez's awful fielding yesterday keeps him in the lineup instead of sticking Polanco in to possibly provide a spark to the lineup... Whatever I guess.
  6. So glad April is done. It's time for another May run.
  7. His favorite position when he was younger was catcher...
  8. Yeah, last night was probably for the best. It seemed like Molitor was trusting putting Fien in late in close games again. Hopefully this puts him back into mop-up duty. Also, 13.5 H/9. Yikes.
  9. A system like that would be much easier to abuse, I'm sure.
  10. Speeding isn't fraudulently taking money away from clean players. Not that I want to see steroid users go to jail or anything, just saying.
  11. So some players should be able to use a banned substance to get back on the field quicker, while the ones who heal without it and are forced to stay out longer is fair to you?
  12. It looks like the Twins tried to acquire Justin Wilson, and were surprised when the Yankees accepted the Tigers offer instead of their "aggressive" offer. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/04/al-pitcher-notes-wilson-skaggs-greene.html That would have been a nice get, although I definitely can't complain with the way Fernando Abad has been pitching.
  13. I think Meyer could be a case in command vs. control. He's got a lower minor league BB/9 than Trevor May, for example, but I would guess that Meyer just pitches in the general area of the strike zone, where May appears to be able to actually locate the ball where he wants (generally speaking, I'm not saying that Trevor May has great command). It'll be interesting to see how Alex Meyer fares when he gets at least 5 innings (hopefully), as opposed to the 1 inning stints that he's been given so far.
  14. Also, I was hoping Jermaine Palacios would just come in and tear up Low-A as a 19 year old, but that hasn't happened yet, as he's hitting just .186. The good news is that he still isn't striking out much, as he's only got 10 strikeouts in 79 PA, to go along with 7 walks. Hopefully some of those hits start falling in and he gets going soon.
  15. Another really disappointing start to a season by Jake Reed. He's been great everywhere he's pitched, besides in AA.
  16. I like it that he got some pitches in before he makes the start. He would've had to do some throwing between now and Tuesday anyway. Also, if he's not ready now, are you thinking his age 27 or maybe his age 28 season would be better?
  17. I didn't know Mike Aviles still played SS. Or that he was still in the majors.
  18. Everything is coming together in the rotation. Hopefully the three young guys (kinda young in Meyer's case) pitch well and force some decisions when Gibson and Santana are healthy.
  19. Even if he's got an over .400 BABIP? I'm hoping we're seeing a Giants/Danny-Santana-crazy-BABIP every other year thing.
  20. Santana Dozier Mauer Sano - RF Park - DH Arcia Nunez Escobar Suzuki Another day for Jorge Polanco to sit on the bench.
  21. He's also a .276 career minor league hitter with speed and positional flexibility. He's got too much value to just be optioned and lost to another team.
  22. I like Danny Santana as a super utility guy who can hit .270. He can also be a good pinch running option late in games.
  23. Training improvements and taking drugs to dramatically change your body are two totally different things. Why is it banned? Because it's an illegal drug that can have adverse side effects. Players would be forced out of the game if they wanted to play on their own natural talent.
  24. That's all true, and I probably get caught up in strikeout numbers a little too much, but Darnell is averaging 2.4 K/9 this year... I don't think that's going to work, especially if we're thinking about how he would perform in the MLB if he gets another chance.
