    Stewart is making a believer out of me. He has great stuff, and looks more relaxed with each start, well, primary appearance. Only 23, control getting better. He has upside.

    Pretty easy to imagine Cedar Rapids winning the Midwest with Lewis and Kiriloff. Glad to see these guys winning already. Hopefully irt will follow them around.

    So, are we excited about Jovani Moran? Don't know what he throws, but he kicked A ball's butt this year being 1-2 years younger that his competition. All told, 76IP, only 45 hits allowed, 107 Ks. 2.25 ERA. There are the 35 walks in 76 innings, but...impressive.

    Not sure about Rooker - he faded big time down the stretch. There are the 22 dingers, but his OPS was only .798. Far more Ks than hits, 150 vs. 128. Granted, it was his full first year of pro ball, and he played in AA almost a year younger than league average. Still, Kiriloff is a phenom. Rooker projects more as a Brunansky than a Puckett.

    Twins' biggest failure at this point is wasting space with guys like Belisle, Field, Petit when they could be letting some guys get their feet wet, like Gordon, Wade, Thorpe. Granted, I like that Stewart, Gonsalves, and Vasquez are here, but it should be all in at this point.

    E-Town - title #12. Second only to the Bluefield squad, which has served the Orioles, Dodgers and Blue Jays. All 12 if Elizabethton's titles have come as a Twins affiliate, 1978 to 2018, from Lenny Faedo and Jesse Orosco to Trevor Larnach and Gilberto Celestino. Hats off!

    Kohl Stewart vs. defending WS champs: 5IP, 3H 0R 1BB 3K For a guy that was rule 5 candidate at the start of the season, great joy supreme. There is hope for this 23 year old former 1st rounder.

    I'm excited about Ben Rortvedt - playing good catcher, and holding your own at the plate with good plate discipline when you are a full 2+ years younger than league average is pretty heady stuff. Kiriloff - what a season. Like pre-knee injury Kubel.

    After mulling this over for a minute or two, front office gets the win. IF Buxton is pissed off and gets an "I'll show you" attitude, they get and extra year. If he busts, sad story, but really this situation is not a make or break if Buxton is actually a MLB caliber player: a month of stat padding garbage time? Who cares? If he shrivels because of this, well, that isn't the make-up of a champion(using some sports lingo there folks). Also, what if they call him up and he fails miserably yet again? So much for momentum going into next season. If I were the Twins, I'd find a failed prospect righty pitcher who's only tool was either a killer slider or curve and hire them to throw to Buxton and Sano all winter until they could recognize those pitches in their sleep.

    Yet somehow, .135 hitting waiver castoff Johnny Field got a call up. If I were Buxton, I'd feel a tad insulted, especially if we are talking about meriting your promotion.

    Glad to see Gordon turning it around in Rochester: 7 for 17 over the last 4 games, raised the BA a whole 10 points. Hope it continues.

    It's like having your first full time job - he's probably losing a little focus now, feeling the grind. All part of the learning process. Manager should sit him a game or two.

    Baseball is great in that tanking for a pick is pretty much impossible. In hockey they often have slogans like"Fail for Nail, Play Bad for Ekblad, Fall for Hall," for the trophy players that often pop up at #1 overall (failing for Nail was a fail). There are so many ways to acquire players, and the learning curve can be long. You never know where a potential star may lurk. It can happen in hockey as well, but the odds are much more slim. Basketball, what do they have, 3 rounds or so? Development and good scouting are gold in MLB.

    Just the bad grades he alluded to in the previous question, or more?

    Dozier is gonna get a taste of real playoff baseball in the second city, home of stars. I don't believe he will be coming back, especially if he goes on one of his late season runs in one of the media capitals of the world.

    Dozier having a revival in LA. 3 run homer tonight. I think this revival was totally predictable. Playing on a new team, contender and all. Plus, he is surrounded by better payers in the lineup. He will probably go on the late season tear now. BD gets a chance to hit that jackpot if he keeps it up. Never was happening here.

    The only one I can remember is Midre Cummings and Denny Neagle for John Smiley, 1992. It is rare with this team.
