  1. just to be clear, you know that wasn't MY argument, right? :-)
  2. Exactly...you can't cookie-cut a situation and say it applies the same to all pitchers across the board. In this situation you do this, period, regardless of the pitcher as if every pitcher is armed with the same stuff. You have to take all the stuff that doesn't apparently matter into account.
  3. Of course none of it matter...wouldn't want to factor everything in to decide the right course of action... He'll 'learn from it' as if he's some kid getting his feet wet. What lesson do you think he learned here, exactly?
  4. Well, it's only hindsight if you didn't say not to send him back out there before he went back out there. As far as the pinch hitter thing, I'd check on that but it's not like there aren't NL pitchers who go into the 8th and 9th... edit: of the 3 times he went 7 innings, once he was pulled for a pinch hitter. Only once of the 5 times he pitched more than 6 innings was he pulled for a pinch hitter. Of course, we could extend it out to how many times he didn't go out there for the 7th when he was pinch hit for, but that's really kind of stretching things when it comes to 'using a pinch hitter' being a legitimate reason he was pulled as opposed to him just needing to be pulled, right?
  5. Learn the game? Really? Does that apply to ANY TIME someone disagrees with you on something baseball related, or anything period? The issue this time is that you have a guy without any dominant stuff, with a one run lead, who has only completed three games ever in his career and, regardless of the PR stuff, is NOT an innings eater. Correia, last year, had his best year in three years. He NEVER pitched more than 7 innings last year and he only pitched 7 innings 3 times. AGAIN, NOT ONE TIME did he pitch past 7 innings. He only pitched more than 6 innings 5 times. That's it. Burton is our 8th inning guy. He should have been ready to start the inning and let him go do his thing. If he blows it, he blows it, but we've been told the 8th inning is his and there's little sense in letting Correia go back out there in that situation. But, of course, you're right. It was exactly the right thing to do...and it worked out so well... You remind me of Gardy when he chastises a person for daring to question his strategy during postgame...
  6. yes, I use maroons instead of morons...goes back to my days of watching a bunch of Bugs Bunny cartoons and, sorry, I don't take every slight against the fanbase on an individual basis. They are piling up fast. That's like saying, it's just a small leak, let's patch it up...all fine until all that's left of the boat is patches...
  7. 'Parmalee was not hurt by bouncing back and forth between AAA and the majors. Hendricks is not hurt by bouncing between AAA and the majors.' How do you know that?
  8. It seems the Twins announcers, manager, GM and everyone in Twins management act as if Twins fans are maroons....or at least the fans who questions the organizations actions. They can say whatever and we should just accept them at their word.
  9. Mauer has a grand total of TWO plate appearances with RISP this season. TWO!
  10. Easy...open the gates earlier...like all teams used to do. It's not a requirement to make a buck on everything, but they're going make money anyway if some of the concessions booths are open and a few of the shops..
  11. The issue this time is that you have a guy without any dominant stuff, with a one run lead, who has only completed three games ever in his career and, regardless of the PR stuff, is NOT an innings eater. It just didn't make much sense to me to have him even go out for the 8th with all those combined factors. Correia, last year, had his best year in three years. He NEVER pitched more than 7 innings last year and he only pitched 7 innings 3 times. He only pitched more than 6 innings 5 times. Burton is our 8th inning guy. He should have been ready to start the inning and let him go do his thing. Having said that, while I don't think it's unheard of to expect a shutout every once in awhile..to win the occasional 1-0, 2-0 game...but, it's true, the offense also didn't step up. That's not on Gardy. Oh, and why exactly don't you put the blame on Gardy for the bullpen warming up late? He tells the pitching coach to call down to the pen to get them warming up. It's directly on his shoulders. What kind of stuff DO you put on Gardy exactly? Cause that is directly his responsibility and yet he's guiltless?
  12. I've seen the Rockies have batting practice before, haven't been for a couple years to know if that is still allowed. Admittedly, I haven't gone early enough to most of the other ballparks I've been to in order to know if they open up early for BP.
  13. Yes, and you don't feel like you're being robbed at the same time.
  14. I used to watch Twins batting practice at the Dome. They may have stopped it in the late '00s, not sure (cause I was in Germany or on deployments for most of the mid-late '00s), but I used to make sure I went early to see batting practice at the dome often.
  15. It sure used to happen though. I used to go watch batting practice all the time (that being relative to the amount of games I went to, of course) at the Metrodome back in the late 90s/early-mid 00s. I didn't know that had stopped until I tried to get into Target for batting practice and they wouldn't let anyone in until, what was it, like an hour before game time? I forget. Anyone know the exact amount of time before the game starts before they open the gates?

  17. sorry, a little off topic...but had to let y'all know The MLB Tonight crew were just talking about Nathan...and the one guy said If he was pitching ANY PLACE OTHER THAN MINNESOTA...he got lost in the shuffle pitching for the Twins...if it had been in New York or Chicago or Boston, a team more the National stage, people would have seen him more. He's a terrific pitcher. Any place other than Minnesota...WOW!
  18. oh, you're from New York...
  19. I have zero problem with the length of baseball games. I do have issues with how easily a reliever can be 'unavailable'. The pitching pool is diluted. More teams, more starters per team, more relievers per team. I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1/3 of the pitchers in baseball have no business being major leaguers, but because of the volume of pitchers needed, they are.
  20. He never misses an opportunity to rip Slowey...which I'll never understand.
  21. a year or two ago, I remember listening to Mitch Williams and Bremer do a game. Now, let me say this, I'm not a fan of Williams when he's in studio chatting on a panel, but he's really quite good on Saturday Fox games. He comes prepared and really gives good info. anyway, he spent like half the game correcting Bremer's mistakes and did a very good job, overall, on the game itself. It was refreshing.
  22. Wow! Yeah, I'm not any kind of fan of Bremer. He's full of nonsense which I hope he just says as a PR man for the team. Hope he doesn't actually believe all the nonsense he spews. I think it's probably his way of backing the organization after their mess up. He likes to do that...even if it means slamming the fanbase, which he's done quite regularly over the past couple years.
  23. The could just skip the #5 guy and go back to Worley...he'd be on normal rest.
  24. Swarzak is out of options. That means, he can't stay in AAA...Roenicke is also out of options, he can't be sent down.
