  1. From the ESPN1500 article 'It's still unclear how long Arcia will be with the team. Paternity list rules state the player must miss the first game immediately after being placed on the list and is allowed to miss up to three games before he must be reinstated onto the roster.'
  2. And which military person said they couldn't admit the were wrong or did something wrong? What Chief and I said wasn't anything like. We said real leaders don't do what Gardy did concerning Hicks. I'm not what Hicks did was even wrong, but since Gardy thinks he did (and he's the boss), that little outburst to the media should have been done it private...or at least in private first. Certainly not how he handled it. And why project that on the player, you ask? Because Gardy himself has said the players have complained about him doing that in the past...and those are just the ones who had the nads to tell him it bothered them...and yet he continues to do it.
  3. Chief, he only brought up the military thing cause I did when I talked about the leadership courses and what the prevailing themes were. He wants to say it's different, but those leadership principals are recommended and used across all areas of professional fields including sports. I also mentioned how Vince Lombardi was know for saying the same thing. about not criticizing in public...there's a great story about him and Bart Starr concerning this very topic. Gardy has been puling this stuff for years...it has NEVER been a good idea and people aren't just pointing it now or over the last two years.
  4. Gardy was just asked if he was gonna move Hicks down in the lineup and he said 'no'...then he said, 'I'll let you know when I'm gonna do it so you don't have to keep asking every day.' Classy...
  5. and how was Clayton a lesser receiver than Duper?
  6. My issue with Marino is that he didn't seem to trust the rest of his team. Seemed every time he audibled it was to change a rushing play to a passing play. Just seemed to me he was more worried about stats than the overall result.
  7. Montana didn't start his career with much offensive help either though. Rice didn't show up until after Montana led them to two Super Bowls Championships. 9ers had 1,000 yard receiver in '81, but the most rushing yards was 549. In '84, they didn't have a 1,000 receiver (not even 900 yard receiver) but they did have a 1,000 yard rusher in '84. I despised the 9ers. I grew up a Rams fan and then we moved from Southern California to Northern California and my parents became traitors (became 9ers fans). I had the 'joy' of watching all their games. Used to drive me crazy when he'd lead the team out onto the field with two minutes left and down...he was always smiling like it was no biggy...and then he'd lead them down the field and win.
  8. Wait, Marino was a better QB than Montana?
  9. ' Probably not unprecedented for a manager to mention to the media an aspect of a young players game that might need improvement.' Is THAT how you describe what he said to the media about Hicks? Gardy mentioned after the 2011 season that players were tuning him out and were defensive when he talked to them. He even said they mentioned how they didn't like him, 'throwing them under the bus'. I think it clearly does bother the players. I was in the military for 23 years...I went to three different formal leadership schools while I was in (not to mention a couple week long refreshers here and there)...and one of the common themes was: Praise in public, criticize in private (a saying Vince Lombardi used to say as well). Followed closely by take none of the credit and all of the blame.
  10. Revere isn't exactly tearing it up either...I mean, compared to Hicks he is, but still... 211/.268/.211 Nothing to write home about... Span is doing well...
  11. doh! P.S., for the record, I was talking about the 2nd game of the KC series. I didn't even watch last night's game, went to the movies with my son.
  12. Wasn't hard to tell that game...it was clearly pouring.
  13. "'But I'll talk to you media guys about it cause I know he couldn't possibly be watching...'
  14. Without trying to offend anyone... That can be said about many a Twins ballplayer over the year...and the announcers are like, 'he can play here and he can play there' and so on. I'm like, 'just cause Gardy puts him there doesn't mean he should be playing there.' Respectfully.
  15. Most of the time I do, I don't think it's needed to be done every time I directly speak to a poster, nor is it a requirement that I know of. So, respectfully, I'll use my own judgement when to quote and when to just address the poster in the manner I did.
  16. Physics Guy, Respectfully, I live in N Dakota. I have only gone to weekend games at Target Field. I have been there for gates opening almost every time. I've never seen the Twins do BP. Respectfully.
  17. 'Every quality start from Correia is another slap in the face of people like ThePuck.' 'Finally, if Burton had blow it in the 8th, ThePuck would be ranting about "80 pitches" and "this is a veteran who we're paying big money to" and "Fire Gardy". Some people just wanna watch the world burn. ' These are, apparently, NOT unprovoked personal attacks on me...they're okay.
  18. It happens. The thing that tipped me off is that I remembered Punto had like the worst OPS (.562) for an AL regular in like 20 something years back in 2007 (up to that point in time...not sure if someone has had a worse one since) and even his OPS+ was in the 50s. An OPS+ of 12 is just not gonna happen for a position player over the course of a full season
  19. That was 2005. He only had a OPS+ of 12 when he was with us that year. He wasn't just with us that year, he was with Seattle too. Overall that year he had an OPS+ of 73. The 85 OPS+ you quoted was the OPS+ he had with Seattle in that year. It's also not the time frame he went from a WAR in the 7s to 1.1. Thta was 2003 to 2004.
  20. I'm sorry, are you saying Boone had an OPS+ of 12 in a season?
  21. Because it's a season with no real expectations and that's the best time to see what the young guys can do.
  22. excuse me? I NEVER hope a Twin fails. That comment is way out of line..but then again, that's what you do... The funny part is you think this is about Correia...who did nothing but pitch well and go back out there like he was told.
