  1. Fangraphs had Correia's value for 2012 at 2.6M....by FAR his best in three years. He was worth 1.3M over the last three seasons going into this season...so, yeah, negative dollars in 2010 and 2011.
  2. They were showing a Bremer interview before this game and he said if the Twins were still reasonably in it in July he'd be surprised if the Twins didn't trade for a pitcher to seriously bolster the team. Oh, Richard...
  3. Didn't Arcia hit that homerun TODAY, not yesterday, and he's batting 3rd tonite? :-)
  4. Fangraphs attempts to put a value on a players season based on performance and comparing that performance to other players' performance and what they get paid. Doumit, according to Fangraphs, was worth more than twice what he was paid last year.
  5. You don't think two of those would be too much? :-)
  6. We're not getting anywhere, so I'm done with it. Enjoyed the debate
  7. Dude had an OPS in the high .700s with 18HR and 75 RBI. He's getting paid 3.5M a year...that's it. That's nothing. He was a bargain last year and likely will be this season and next.
  8. Expensive? Are you kidding? He's getting paid relative peanuts for a veteran and he's a starting major leaguer. And, you know, his salary is hardly pushing our budget over the top, stopping us from getting other players...
  9. Rockies are my second favorite ball club. They have my favorite ballplayer as well, Tulo.
  10. I already said I want Escobar starting, what do you want from me Brock :-)
  11. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of giving up outs either... As far as how much Scioscia sees him, I guess it depends on how much film he watches. I'm guessing he's seen a lot of the last few years, but that's just a guess. I haven't seen Scioscia give up much praise for catching defense over the years though...I do remember not so long ago him talking about the decline of catching skills overall. In any event, he had no reason to praise Mauer's defense in this case. Could have stuck with just praising his offense.
  12. Scioscia just got done saying Mauer is a fantastic defensive catcher...and the man knows something about being a very good defensive catcher.
  13. I seem to remember a World Series championship team recently that allowed the 4th most walks in baseball with only one team allowing more total runs. They also had the best ERA in baseball. Last year the Dodgers were 7th in walks allowed, but only three teams gave up less runs....Nats were 12th in walks allowed, only two teams gave up less runs. I'm not a big fan of walks, one reason our team gives up so few walks over the last two seasons, is that our opponents are too busy beating the carp out of the ball instead.
  14. Drafted as a shortstop, played shortstop in the minors for 680 games (as opposed to 78 at 3B), came up as a shortstop. But yes, I should have said he WAS a shortstop moved to 3B.
  15. Plouffe is a shortstop moved to 3B who really isn't a 3B yet either. Because he mans the position doesn't mean he should.
  16. This...especially the last sentence. I've read the TD policy a bunch of times, and I've yet to see in the TD policy that posters can't talk about what was said by themselves, or other posters, in the past. Yet that road got closed in the last couple days. Thing is, it's sometimes closed, sometimes not. Is this going to be added to the TD policy, along with no rooting for an ex-Twin to do well against the Twins? (which I would never do, but see no reason why that's a problem). What would be so wrong for a Slowey fan to hope he does well against the Twins but the Twins still win? Telling people who they can and can root for seems fundamentally wrong. It's to the point where a debate that gets even slightly heated gets shut down...and sometimes even before it gets to that point...
  17. I'm guessing this is sarcasm...I hope so anyway.
  18. One is 24 and one is 26...and Florimon hasn't played enough in the majors yet to say he is who he is...he hasn't had enough time to adjust to the majors yet. That's the problem with promoting people so late...they are almost in their prime years when they get promoted and they spend some of their prime years adjusting to the major leagues.
  19. I'm all for Escobar over Florimon, but there's only a 2 year age difference.
  20. Plouffe, unfortunately, will never be able to play the shortstop position anywhere near as well as Hardy. Hardy is a top notch defender.
  21. 'Please refrain from any squabble about what is or is not in the archives -- if it can easily be found then please post it, but let's not have post after post arguing about what might have been said. ' are we being told we can't talk about past debates now? Are the rules in here going to be consistently made up as we go along? Is someone being disrespectful while doing it, and if so, shouldn't that be the point addressed not telling people that they can't bring up what they said in the past in here?
  22. So, you think we'll trade him or just release him?
