  1. Yeah, Andrus was asking for it the way he played that...he's lucky a fellow shortstop was running...
  2. You hit 28HR/100 RBI in 129 games and have an OPS around .900, you've dominated that league
  3. Plus, he's always been an error machine...and while I'm not a huge fan of judging fielders by errors and fielding %, his totals in the minors are hard to ignore.
  4. and how did he finish the season in Beloit?
  5. Have you ever criticized the President?
  6. I would have added that: He's the only catcher to ever lead the majors in BA for a season. He's the only catcher to ever lead his league in BA/OBP/SLG%. He's the only AL catcher to win a batting title. He's the only MLB catcher to ever win 3 batting titles. That's a lot of positive 'only'.
  7. The Twins are not the Angels. IMO, we shouldn't be figuring where our prospects will play based on what other teams do with their shining prospects. It's a fun exercise, but I don't think it means much.
  8. speaking of stats... Rotation ERA going into today was 26th...but let's talk about the strong pitching... Gardy is always so proud about how few walks his pitching staff. The obsession with that is practically cult-like with this club. How about batting average against, Gardy? 29th in baseball (30th if talking about rotation BAA). But hip-hip-horray, we don't walk people. Teams are too busy hitting the ball to walk...
  9. I went to those games and I met Brad Thomas (the starter for game 2). It was his first start and he and his lady were staying at the Holiday Inn Metrodome where I used to stay when I went to the Dome for games. My lady and I got into the shuttle to take us to the game and he got in right after. We headed out but we weren't taking the same route we normally take. Turns out we went to the players entrance first, dropped him off and then the shuttle took us where he normally took us. He didn't do so well, but Santana came in and did well. Team ended up winning.
  10. Imagine what they media would do to Gardy if he managed a NY team and had his postseason record...
  11. For his career, after getting himself an 0-2 count, he's batting .244. When attempting to put the ball in play on an 0-2 count, he's hit .236 for his career. I believe that's quite a bit better than the norm.
  12. Sabathia? Lee? Then again, there aren't too many to choose from...
  13. Seems Pelfrey goes inside way too much...he doesn't have the stuff to do that...
  14. For some, only HR and RBI make you elite...and taking into account position is irrelevant...
  15. I love watching the Clydesdales on the Budweiser commercials....
  16. I agree...and I think they should just play him, period.
  17. Of course we needed pitching...that's not in dispute...I also liked the trade, so that's not in dispute from my end...but Dave wrote: 'Keep in mind this is a rebuilding team, so hanging onto Revere or whatever would have been a mistake IMO'. That quote doesn't seem to reference the trade, but rather it seems to be a general statement about keeping him.
  18. Yes, in general, how would keeping someone like Revere hurt our rebuilding? I was fine with the trade and I was fine with what we got for him, cause we absolutely need pitching. However, keeping a player like Revere with his youth and contract situation doesn't hurt the rebuilding process. If you can get what we got for him it helps the rebuilding process, but if we weren't able to get that, keeping him sure wouldn't have hurt the rebuilding process.

  20. Did you not see the part where I said...I was fine with trading him? What's your 'really' all about? You should read and absorb posts before jumping the gun, dude.
  21. I'm not a big Revere fan and I was fine with trading him, but how would keeping a guy who still hasn't turned 25 years old hurt our rebuilding phase? He's young, can't be a FA until 2018, and he's a year and 5 months older than Hicks.
  22. I'm wondering how many games in a row Bert is gonna say something like: 'in today's game throwing 7 innings is like pitching a complete game in the old days'. He did it on the Fox Saturday broadcast, he did it Sunday and both games yesterday.
  23. what changed was 110 was his ERA- overall as a pitcher, 109 was when he was a starter. Additionally, of the 89 starters who pitched 160 or more inning, he ranked 64th. Additionally, like I wrote earlier, Fangraphs had his 2012 value at 2.6M. We will pay him almost double that in each of the next two seasons...and last year was his best season, by far, of his last three seasons (worth negative money in 2010 and 2011). By comparison, we're only paying Doumit half of what he was worth last year in each of the next two seasons. :-)
  24. I see....next question, does everyone know that with the stat ERA-, the lower the number, the better the pitcher did? ERA- of 86 good. ERA- of 110, bad.
