  1. 23rd in rotation ERA, 29th in BAA, 27th in WHIP, last in Ks, and one team has less quality starts. If that's not sucking, then my dictionary needs a re-write :-)
  2. I've been watching as many postgame interviews as I can for years and reading all the articles about the Twins. I remember Gardy claiming responsibility for a mistake once....that's it...once. I don't even remember what it was about anymore just that I couldn't believe my freakin ears that he actually, FINALLY, admitted he made a mistake. I remember Gardy belittling a reporter for twice daring to question a ridiculous strategic move he made in a game...one that he had made quite a few times and never worked. He was convinced it was the right move and couldn't even consider that hey, maybe it's the wrong call. In an interview with ESPN1500 at the end of the 2011 season Gardy said that some players were defensive with him, not wanting to listen and upset he throws them under the bus whatever that means (as if he doesn't know what that means and that he does it...all the time). He dismissed all of that as the PLAYERS' problem, nothing HE was doing wrong.
  3. Not Army... He's a retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant.
  4. I thought your question was: Was this really the worst trade ever, or did the organization just not have the patience it needed? Isn't 'not having patience' considered a slam of sorts? Isn't that one of the choices and the view you seem to be leaning towards?
  5. This is season six since that trade. If you have to wait five or six years for a player you get in a trade to develop into at least an okay player to be called a patient ball club, especially when that player already had MLB experience, then I'd rather the Twins not be called a patient ball club. On top of that, part of the attraction was having him for quite some time at a reasonable rate. He didn't develop into an okay player until his last season before being able to become a FA.
  6. Yes, we did not have had the best record in 2006... Yankees won a whopping one more game than we did. Thing is, we played in a division that had three teams win 90 or more games, while the AL East's 2nd place team only won 87. It was a rare year that the AL Central was the toughest division in baseball. Some might look at the whole picture and say that even though we didn't have the best record, we likely had the best team....especially considering the talent. MVP, batting champ, CY Young winner, top 3 closer, power hitting gold glove CF, 100+RBI RF... Not unreasonable to think we shouldn't have gotten swept in the first round...
  7. I wanted Gausmann or Zimmer...either one...Gausmann was my first choice.
  8. 22 Starts...Hendriks has 22 MLB starts. Does this close the book on this 24 year old?
  9. That's very funny!
  10. I'd like the Twins to pry Ryne Sandberg from the Phillies before he replaces Manuel
  11. maybe, though I've never lived in Minnesota, myself.
  12. Don't you need to send his resume somewhere? :-)
  13. I thought it was commonly known as well.
  14. who was the scorer on the Plouffe error that wasn't scored an error on, I believe , Friday night? The one where it was hit to him and he did a bull fighter move on the ball instead of getting in front of it. Blatant over the top error called a hit.
  15. Correia only has 5 starts, how could he have 7 QS?
  16. I like Arcia as much as the next guy, in fact he was the prospect I was most looking forward to seeing, but how has he proven he can hit MLB pitching? Is it his 2 HR? Cause he's batting under .200 and his OBP is mid .200s
  17. Yes, she's a great athlete. She going to the Olympics?
  18. perfect description. Ridiculously gorgeous.
  19. Never under-estimate a person's ability to complain...
  20. Well, we'll already have him till he's 32, at least. If he's worth keeping, we can extend him with one contract and he'll already be in his mid-late 30s. If he's not worth keeping, we already have all of his prime years and found him not worth keeping... service time issues are extremely important to true low budget teams which we aren't....teams that force themselves to be low budget don't count, they aren't low budget because they HAVE to be. With how our team is going to be budgeted in the next 4-6 years, we hardly need to worry about gaining one more year from a 25 year old pitcher who hasn't even started his MLB career yet.
  21. there is an unhealthy obsession with service time around here.
  22. He also got on base at a very decent clip, regardless of BA or Ks.
