  1. He has had only four quality starts in his last 13 starts. He's not completed 7 innings since mid-May. I guess I'm being picky.
  2. Practically all stats are used to compare to other players. Their stats show us where they are ranked amongst others at their position.
  3. Who has been wrong about Correia. He had a very good April and that's it. There's still half a season left. I'll happily admit I was wrong about Correia if and when that is actually is true.
  4. I'm glad you guys like Correia. I guess I'm in the minority. I wanted Ryan to actual seriously improve the rotation, not have pitchers do well based on what they are being paid. How much is our current rotation getting paid? I guess I should be happy cause they're getting paid like 11M. Can't expect much for that. I guess I should be happy with his 4.23 season ERA, a WHIP over 1.400, and and ERA over 5.00 with only 4 quality starts over the last two months. And, again, I don't care what any player's paycheck is, that's a owner/FO issue. I care about having players with quality seasons.
  5. Not at all...in fact I gave him credit for April right away, didn't I? :-)
  6. I don't WANT him to fail, not at all, I'm saying what I think he does.
  7. I don't care what he's doing compared to his pay. As a fan, why would I? That's an owner/FO issue. I care about how the rotation is performing overall, and it's horrible and he's contributing to that. Just cause Ryan is, for now, getting his money's worth from Correia doesn't mean anything to me. Any bets on his ERA being closer to 5.00 than 4.50 at the end of the season (if not over 5.00)? His FIP is 4.70. I love it when people say, if you take this out and his or whatever, then it's a lot better than it looks as if it doesn't all count. BTW, why does his games at TF matter more than away from TF?
  8. Pelfrey has given us innings. Less than 5 1/3 over 16 starts. Hasn't had enough innings to even qualify for stats. Correia has held his own by having a great April. Worley came off injury, but Ryan is surprised he struggled to the point of having to go to AAA. Is this the worst rotation in baseball for quite some time? And, basically, Gardy isn't going anywhere.
  9. Well, he likely had about 20M available, so I don't think the Saunders contract would have put him up against the payroll available since he got less than 7M.
  10. My post wasn't a complaint. No complaint in there, whatsoever. My post was pointing out that building a team can be done by also getting some free agents in addition to drafting and developing....that it doesn't have to be draft and develop OR get free agents, it can be both...and that not one person in here has said the best way to build a team is through free agency. This to counter the notion that posters in here are disagreeing with his belief that the best way to rebuild is through smart drafting and development
  11. I doubt he cares what the Twins faithful think in regards to the moves he makes, to be perfectly blunt. Like Gardy and his in-game strategic moves, whether they work or not, they are the right call in his eyes and goodness forbid you question him. He's torn more than one reporter up for daring to questions him. And, of course, our announcers will set the fans straight if the complaints are too loud and public, let us know we mere mortals don't know anything.
  12. Gardy has put him in several positions, therefore, he's versatile. Much like Cuddy was 'versatile'
  13. Who disagrees that the best way to rebuild is through smart drafting and development? Wishing the team was more active in the FA market doesn't live separately from that belief. It doesn't have to be, nor should it be, one way or the other.
  14. Yeah, no. If Ryan made a trade like that, all evidence of him every being GM would be wiped from the Twins records and he'd be a punching bag from sport commentators for years. For good reason.
  15. My problem is when he tells the season ticket holders, and those looking to get season tickets, that he will do everything possible to significantly improve the rotation and then we get this rotation, is there something morally wrong in that situation with spouting off mistruths and can we seriously give him a pass on that? It's could be argued this is the worst rotation, overall, than any MLB rotation in over a decade when taking into account everything
  16. What has Mauer done lately? Hmmm, well, he's got a 3.8 WAR right now, 7th in the AL. 5th in the AL in runs created (even though he's batting 2nd)and throwing out 46% of would be base stealers. So, I guess, not much really.
  17. I don't think it's a huge jump at all...not in any way. I think it's a huge jump to assume all players won't come here unless we way overspend because a team that won with regularity for 10 years has a couple bad seasons. Those 'reports' that came out saying we couldn't give our money away were from Ryan. Whining about his woes. We don't know why we couldn't give our money away. You ASSUME it's because people wouldn't come here. As assumption based on nothing, just some convenient excuse. Why couldn't it be because he wasn't willing to spend what was needed?
  18. Problem is, that quality FAs are always going to require an 'overspend' which means it's no longer an overspend, but what the market actually is. If you wanna praise him for not 'overspending', either in years or money, you might as well say that you're happy if he never signs a true quality FA.
  19. I gotta be 100% honest here, I just can't get worked up about this.
  20. Iglesias, Franklin and three or four relievers have a pretty good jump on Hicks, IMO. I'm a big Hicks fan, but I think he'll have to really come on strong to win it. I imagine if he keeps improving he may get some votes, but right now he's clearly on the outside looking in.
  21. I believe you are mistaken, because I've seen plenty of people throughout different forums, to include here, who blame the Pohlads for not giving Ryan the money to spend. That Ryan is basically building a team with the orders to continue to cut payroll. Of course, not all Ryan defenders do, but I'm not saying all do.
  22. If Manuel stays the manager of the Phillies after this year, we have to try and get Ryne Sandberg.
  23. Isn't it better to have your best players approaching 30 then to have them getting farther and farther away from 30? :-)
  24. There's nothing to surprising about that. Seemed to be fairly common knowledge, but it is nice to see a refresher as some Ryan defenders continue to deflect 'blame' (whether or not blame needs to be assigned) from Ryan to the Pohlads when it comes to payroll.
  25. Exactly, not only that but if one had looked a month ago, they would have seen much better numbers. I imagine he'll be back to normal at season's end.
