  1. This was an enjoyable game with some really good signs. First off, Plouffe put a good swing on one and gave us a lead. Pelfrey, I've figured, would be our best pitcher the second half, and he stepped up today very nicely. I didn't expect that so soon. That was a treat, and good confidence for him. Hit 95 a few times. And then there's Mauer's slump. What do you different? Well, I'd tell him to hit some of that meat that's served on the first pitch. After his initial strikeout, he came up every time after ready to take a hack on pitch number one. He keeps that up and he'll break out quickly. And, I've got to mention I really like watching Jamie Carroll play baseball.
  2. jokin hit it on the head. 4 pitchers in the spotlights. 2 could be up shortly, one next year and one the following. The minors are fun to watch this season!
  3. Gardy's got his eraser close by. Plouffe messed up, why not call him on it. It's a minor league mistake.
  4. Good for AJ, he's earned it. He brings alot of energy to the ballpark.
  5. And I thought this thread was about the weather!
  6. No hate involved, I just don't think he's a MLB player. I don't care who we put there, just get rid of him. He certainly doesn't have a future in this organization.
  7. Wish I could erase one name on that roster........rub, rub, rub, and plouffe! he gone!
  8. I played golf with Cuddy, and you'd never know it. He'd stand with his right side toward the speaker when talking and you wouldn't even notice. Years of practice probably made it automatic.
  9. Those guys have nothing to do with what this season is about. That's the future. This season is all about who we have on the team now and how they are competing. So far it ain't to bad!
  10. Ok, sounds good to me. And if he should play decent this year, I'll be very pleasantly surprised, so a win win for me!
  11. I agree, seriously. I doubt 4A Plouffe will last the season with us. He can take the route his buddy Luke Hughes did. He's just not good a 3rd, and that's my eye test if anyone really needs to know. Also, he's a flash in the pan in the box. If the pitch isn't in a 6" circle, he's an easy out. I'd trade him whenever I could if anyone would take him. 3rd base should of been addressed in the off season, but we still have Carroll. As far as Sano goes, he's improving. It'll take some time. Sometimes I wonder if he ever played with a glove in the DR, as he can get the ball to hit the pocket but doesn't squeeze and it pops out. He'll get there, but I can't see him on the Twins til maybe middle of next year if he keeps improving.
  12. And perhaps they did the best they could of at that. But not all fish take the bait.
  13. I agree sabr. And I thought it was an informative interview. Common sense would take one down the trail of what needed to be done in the off season. Nothing there that I wouldn't have tried, but one thing I would of done is shore up 3rd base. I've got huge doubts on that position. It was interesting that 4 teams stepped up and inquired about Revere. And I feel that was a very good trade for us. Oh ya, a little common sense also tells you not everyone would want to play for the Twins.
  14. Actually the Miracle score was 5-3. We had our chances, leaving the bases loaded in maybe the 7th, and then the dp to end the game. It's too bad Tim Wood needed work tonight, on rehab, and had a bad 8th inning, only getting a single out that came with sacks jammed on a grounder to first. Gonzales fielded and thought about going home for the force, but held on to tag out the runner. Woods got the hook. He's pitched twice now with no luck. He gave up the tying run a couple nights ago in an inning pitched. It looks like he'll need alot more work before he's ready to go. A nice crowd of over 1800 at the game tonight, which is a sign the Miracle are getting some interest. It was a nice run to start the season for a very talented team!
  15. It's only 90 here in Ft Myers, and I have to head back to Minnesota in a few days. They say spring travels north at 11 miles per day. If you see someone driving really slow on I75, give me a wave.
  16. Who says Morneau gets traded? He'll get the call either way.
  17. You just don't throw it down the middle with the sacks jammed and a one run lead to Miguel. So, 12-0! What a great time for Molitor to be here and watching. I'd like to hear his report to the FO.
  18. How far woud you go?
  19. I can't wish for that. Smurf's got the right idea, dh Hammer.
  20. Stuifbergen was really good last night. He just kept putting zero's up on the board in a tight game. We finally took the lead, and managed to hang on, and padded it in the 8th on a line drive triple by Goncalves that just got over the centerfielders glove by a foot. The lone error of course was by Sano. The batter laid down a nice bunt down the 3rd base line and Sano called off the pitcher, and made a barehanded pickup. He then threw 6 feet inside the bag and the ball rolled down the right field line. LOL, why not? The very next pitch the batter bunted again in nearly the same exact spot. Same play but with a strike to 1st this time. The runner taking 3rd and scoring on a sac fly. The Miracle lost the bunting competition tonight though. Wickens and Morales both failed on 2 attempts each, but Wickens did deliver an rbi single. Today's game will be hot, about 90 degrees.
  21. "I have no doubt that Gordon, Carneal, etc. regurgitated some one-sided front office gab back in the day -- I'd be surprised if there was ever an announcer who didn't do that. I'd guess they probably committed that act about as frequently as newspapers of the time, but there simply is no paper trail for the announcers." You never heard me talk about Calvin or Billy like that. Cough, cough cough........
  22. Early in spring training I gave Arcia the best chance to make the club, then he got injured. I'm glad he'll get a taste of it now, but it's only a couple of games, or possibly three. Everything I've read here is of the premise of "if he rakes, or tears it up". Most likely he won't. He's going to be in front of crowds never seen before, in lousy weather, excited and with the jitters, and possibly catching the "can't hit itis" from the rest of the squad. So if he goes 1-10 or so, at least he'll get a taste, and when he does come back in warmer weather in a couple months I think he'll be fine. I just don't expect much with all the pressure in this situation. I'm hoping though.
