  1. I could of posted this when there was only 2 replies, and probably should have. I'm not in the least upset with this move and happy for Joe. A fresh start is what he needs, he's grown stale here and now gets a new chance. I really don't think this had anything to do with attitude. I've watched him in the spring since he came here, and he always seemed like a good teammate and gave it his all. He kind of reminds me of Adam Johnson, and nothing like David McCarty. Joe's a good guy and I wish him the best. As far as all the whining about roster moves, ect, who cares? We just came off a 10 game losing streak, for crying out loud. If Joe passed thru waivers would we win 10 straight? Heck no! To hell with the 40 man. And he darn near made it thru, finally getting claimed by Texas, so he goes to a winning organization! Good for him, run with it Joe, run with it.
  2. I turned it off with a man on and an out. I think I've got this thing figured out!
  3. I agree, Oldgoat. Just to see new names was enough for a little optimism, but it's the same thing with a different song.
  4. Two things need to happen, decent starting pitching, and scoring some runs. Without both, we could hit double digits in this lossing string. This road trip is going to tell alot about the future for some of these guys. Posted that on the 19th. And now we're at 10. When will it end?
  5. I expected this and am fine with it. Arcia has had his taste, and knows now what he needs to work on as they pitch him differently lately. Play every day and work on those weaknesses, and then come back up for good. In the long run I think this is the way to go. It looks like they're going to stick with Hicks thru thick and thin. Two different approaches, we'll see which works out the best down the line.
  6. I wonder how hot Gardie's seat is, and Anderson better not even think of sitting down.
  7. What did I hear? Pelfrey on friday I believe. Anyway Kevin C. moves back a day.
  8. How long before some what to see Blackburn again?
  9. Yesterday I was thinking this could be Pelf's last chance. Saved by the rain! But his leash is very short also. Maybe we should just start Perkins or Burton, just to see if we could put a zero on the board in the first inning.
  10. I predict we won't see Worley for a good solid month, if ever again.
  11. I like it! Deduno is fun to watch, to say the least. I laugh out loud when he pitches. Gibson will be here soon enough, and come season's end, the beginning starting rotation will mostly be gone.
  12. Two things need to happen, decent starting pitching, and scoring some runs. Without both, we could hit double digits in this lossing string. This road trip is going to tell alot about the future for some of these guys.
  13. 10 minutes instead of 10 innings and this game has been decided already.
  14. Parmalee and Willingham, but we wouldn't get squat for them. We aren't getting squat from them now. Parmalee has proved he can't hit a fastball (everyone can hit a fastball), and needs to be sent down. Willingham is so confused he can't even swing the bat. He's killing us and has cost us some games, like last night. Bases loaded and takes a called 3rd strike when a fly ball wins the game. He needs bench time to get his head together.
  15. I go with Ruesse, hands down. I have no idea how to tweet or twitter, or whatever, so no opinion there. I still miss Scott Miller in the ppress.
  16. I'm in the I don't think he's ready camp. I'd like to see a couple of good starts back to back before thinking of bringing him up. If someone comes up now, I'd bring Deduno. At least you know what you're getting, and he'd give us a chance to win every time he throws. Actually, I'm not convinced Gibson ever will be MLB ready. He could be another Adam Johnson, Willie Banks type. Oh, he'll get his chance, but what he does with it is far from determined.
  17. I was glad Hicks came up out of spring training. I really didn't expect a hot start, but expected more than what he's done so far. I'm just about ready to jump sides and say maybe some time in AAA would be better for him. But, in the time he's been here, he's learned, alot. He's got to continue to learn and put that knowledge to use. He's certainly got a good command of the strike zone, and he's getting smoother on defense. His bat is improving little by little. He's at least hitting some balls with some authority now. Having Bruno there has to be a plus that he wouldn't have in Rochester. Last night I'd bet he was pretty surprised how far that first homer went with that short swing. File that one in the memory bank! And take it to the other side when hitting lefty. He seems alot more relaxed now, and playing with Arcia can't hurt that. I'll give another month and see what comes. Hopefully he'll keep improving, he's surely fun to watch, and could be a joy for years to come.
  18. I'll take the level of player that he currently is over anyone. If there was an ignore button to push on "trade Morneau", I'd be hammering on it.
  19. I didn't feel safe with a 6-0 lead last night, and certainly not now up 6-4. Who's going to finish this game?
  20. That's a double. What else could it possibly be, a single? Arcia, to me, looked like he thought it would come high off the wall and got into position for that, then figured he might have a chance and ran back and jumped for the ball. Almost got it too. I thought he put a pretty good effort on that ball.
  21. I'd give Gibson at least one more start in AAA. I too, feel a need for some consistency. Let's see how he responds after the last start with throwing so many pitches.
  22. I would have titled it "Are the M & M........"
  23. Another coaching mishap today when Willingham didn't see the stop sign. Granted, maybe he should have, but as it played out I can see how he missed it. Vavra was waving Mauer home as he came around 3rd and Hammer around 2nd. Vavra then threw up the stop sign which Joe saw and stopped. Willingham probably has eyes on the 3rd base bag and didn't see it. The thing here is, and Vavra's new at it, he has to realize that he's got two players that look to him, not just the one rounding 3rd. The coach's should talk to the players about that situation as you know it'll happen again and again.
  24. I agree. Joe's always had a good arm, but this year the pitchers are giving him at least a fair chance to gun 'em.
